[Archived] Liverpool 1-0 Rovers
BlueMonday replied to roversWASmylife's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Rovers to win 1-0, Freidel to score from a corner in the last minute. -
I have to admit I'm starting to warm to Savage. He'll never set the world on fire and would be more effective without the needless bookings. But he works hard for the team and seems to build confidence and as time goes on is settling in at Rovers.

[Archived] Poll - Falling Attendances.
BlueMonday replied to Tris's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Sorry to Quote myself(and re-quote Philipl), but yesterdays gate -20,731, backs the above sentiments up. Even just 2 weeks ago we could have expected only 16-17.000, excellent result at OT and we see an immediate improvement. Lets hope we can maintain this good form and see where it takes us. -

Thats it in a nut shell really. If for any given season we finished in the same league position, the supporters would talk more avidly about the season in which we won more games or saw more entertaining football. Ticket pricing at Ewood isn't the reall problem imo -

DOH ! -
On the back of the OT result, if we can put some wins together and get a run going, we might just see our attendence figures improving. This might give us an answer as to why they have been falling.

8 000 in total, or 8,000 Rovers tickets. Would imagine Hudders' would bring a good following at those prices?

If we adopt a 5-5-(0) formation I'll back us for 0-1 win. Friedel to score from an injury time corner.

[Archived] Rovers 0 Newcastle 3
BlueMonday replied to American's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Worrying result and worrying performance. Loosing 0-3 to a team who's own form has been poor and who we dominated for an hour, needs addressing. We will more or less have had our strongest team out on Sunday, no aces up the sleeves, or transfers until JAN. The solution therefore lies in Hughes' man management and coaching skills. On the whole we all back Hughes and therefore must trust him to turn it round. We, the supporters, can also play a part by being positive and giving the team full backing. Despite reduced numbers this season, the support has been good, made plenty of noise and got behind the team. So lets keep it up. When the going gets tough, and all that -

No! They will listen to the KERCHING! of the cash register. When profits start to seriously fall the fun will start Football as we know it is teetering on the edge of oblivion. When the next round of TV rights bargening comes round, there is going to be a fundamental shift in how football is financed IMO. Its going to hit us big time ! -

1985, away to Everton in the FA cup, must have been 5-6,000 Rovers on. Remember being crambed into the lower tier, cracking atmosphere and I was hooked. Went home in a fleet of double decker corporation buses. Even having Everton fans smashed our bus up didn't put me off ! -
Were Rovers well supported on the trip? And have you any news on this alleged Rovers and Dingle meet up?

[Archived] Boardroom Restructure At Ewood
BlueMonday replied to doctorryan's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Some excellent debate here, with some well informed opinions, that raise some questions. 1. If Flybe is deemed as being 'to big' for the trust fund to support is it possible that Rovers could be seen this way by the trustees. We are not a successful expanding buisness, but our need for ever greater transfer fees could be viewed this way. 2. If Flybe is sold off, does that mean Rovers will get a share of a bigger pot, as there is one less snout in the trough. 3. With the appointment David Brown, is it conceivable that a long term plan is being drawn up to sell off Rovers. Thus severing ties with the trustees and ultimately the Walkers. 4. Leaving all conspiracy theories aside, is this the best possible way of restructuring the board to ensure success for Rovers. -
[Archived] 2005/6 Season Ticket Sales
BlueMonday replied to Mike Graham's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
I'm considering buying a season ticket for the first time in ten years. Only problem is I now live in Paisley, Scotland. I would be interested in hearing from anyone north of the boarder who thinks they will be attending games on a fairly regular basis ,or, even better with a season ticket. I'm not aware of any supporters associations up here, but do know there are Rovers supporters this side of the wall. So to discuss the possibility of car sharing, or ways to keep travel costs down PM me please. Thanks -

Booked my tickets over the phone this morning, no queue straight through. No £25 or £35 tickets left. Bought 2 £45 tickets for the North Stand, wouldn't miss it for the world. Lets be 'avin you !!

Burnleh is a tax haven as well... In the sense that everyone there is on income support and doesn't pay tax ! Come to think, its not part of the British Isles either. Jack could have just moved down the M65 instead. Ok, OK I went too far there didn't I

Cheers guys, thats great. Rover groo, I've still to book the ferry ect, but if I'm in the area for that week( and Mrs. Bluemonday will let me out for the day !!) your bus sounds like a good idea. Keep me informed ! By the way I've just found out the Bushmills distillary is just down the road so I might be A.W.O.L. for the week

Its on the coast, north of belfast.

I'll be staying in Ballycastle in the north that week, so I'm considering driving down. Its hard to judge looking at a map how long a drive it will be. Can any of the irish rovers help me on this ?
