He will be unhappy with the lingering doubts any player would in his position. Thankfully though he’s just getting on with what he’s paid to do that’s the main thing for us at the minute. He hasn’t done a Rowe and just doing his talking on the pitch all we can ask on a seperate note regardless of opposition in the first two games (tonight was a free one) it’s great that all of the attacking players are off the mark sammy 3 goals and an assist ohashi 2 goals 2 assists gueye 1 goal 1 assist weimann 2 goals Dolan 1 goal Vale 1 goal sigurdsson an assist Buckley an assist more just for confidence can only help going forward still need a bit more pace in the team

I think it is the case szmodics regardless of club at his age would like the opportunity to play in the prem Iv no doubt about that. It prob took him couple of weeks in pre season to get his head around the fact Ipswich may not meet his valuation. So he’s just put the head down and is getting on with it. It’s def refreshing look at rowe at Norwich pulling out hours before their first match. It’s not a good look

Great to start with a win bonus points for Eustace with the subs travis excellent tonight New signings good start going to add something more/different to the team szmodics what a guy will be sad to see him go seems to be the link for this team but can’t deny him a move to the prem set pieces need addressed - again need more pace in the team 3 points on the board let’s hope we can get the signings over the line and they can have the same impact as the ones already here

Your missing the point I’m making entirely did we need to shore up absolutely but we pretty much abandoned any attacking threat in ‘most’ games my point has always been there needed to have been a better balance and for a couple of months we simply just stopped attacking draws near sent us down all irrelevant now but my point still stand jury is still out - no home wins and only 4 altogether New season home game tonight against newly promoted side great chance to start well - no excuses

Again under JDT with a very similar team/squad he barely played Wharton for long periods in the season we came 7th. It’s about coaching obviously having certain players help but if you go back and look Wharton wasn’t an ever present in that team that missed out on goal difference. my point really is I thought we shifted from a certain style to the polar opposite with no balance at all and for a good 6-8 weeks we really struggled with it

See I look at it differently (again probably not JE fault as it’s his way boards fault for selecting him) from playing open possession based football to go to complete opposite to me at the time was madness did we need a change in manager absolutely JDT had burnt all bridges had to go but we needed a manager who could shore up the defence whilst still have the attacking threat we last season under JE didn’t have that so I think his selection near relegated is due to his style - matter of opinion of course thankfully we did stay up and il reserve judgement on his season starting tomorrow

Yes Iv corrected myself re goal difference I got that wrong - the Stoke game Iv added to his stats 4 wins in 18 league games 1 win in 8 league games at ewood heaviest defeat of the season away to Bristol Leeds and Sunderland excellent results Leicester game needs context but as a rovers fan I don’t care as we stayed up - but when analysing you don’t just look at the win the context and scenario is required The narrative that he did this immense job is simply false

Don’t want to completely bash him as the circus behind the scenes last season was beyond laughable and add to that the players meeting with fans about the atmosphere etc it wasn’t a great place to be having said that this narrative that Eustace kept us up I don’t quite follow we weren’t in relegation zone or within 3 games of it when he took over - granted our form was on a slippery slope but it’s being made out that we were in the relegation zone and he battled his way out that’s not how it went I wish him well though and will properly judge him this season

Eustace has proven nothing of the sort. 18 games on record 4 wins (1 not in the dugout v Stoke - DJ took training and match that week) 9 points clear of relegation before he came in we stayed up on goal difference Did he have a lot to contend with behind the scenes and off the field noise - yes absolutely but the stats speak for themselves so the jury is still out he’s now got a full pre season behind him so I’m intrigued to see how he gets on
