Give some of the fringe players and kids a chance to shine. Boro will be looking to avenge our recent win at their place, and we don't have the resources for any kind of additional campaign outside the league. If a scratch team produces the goods then maybe that will be a way of strengthening the overall squad for the league challenge. If we never blood them, we will be forever in the dark about their potential.

I see Chris McGuire is still stateside, despite having been touted as the next big thing for Rovers this time last year. If he was really all that great, surely there'd have been a queue of clubs clamouring for his signature in the wake of the Rovers debacle. Just goes to show what a bunch of clowns we have behind the scenes at our once proud club. Come on somebody, give us something to hang on to... ANYTHING? -

Good to see Sammie still doing his thing in the Prem - just scored at Fulham. Why can't we find someone with his work ethic - surely there are players with the same engine and energy elsewhere in the Football League? -

It is the same amount, adjusted for headline inflation at the time. It is fairly clear that any speculation about funds is pointless, as nobody outside of the inner clique has a cuckoo's clue what is available (or not). This thread would be better served if folk stuck to information about players who are a) available and b) a reasonable shout for an outfit with our characteristics (I know, that is likely to be a shallow pool! 😞 ) Is there ANY rumour worth discussing, about potential incomings or outgoings? Can't get a stream as away today - how has JE set the team up?

Dingle Derby Day Dawns... Whilst I feel we have made massive progress under JE, I still can't shake off the feeling that the Dingles will have too much about them to allow us to restore our pride in the way we most surely all hope we will one day. Football is tidal, tribal and terrible for letting fans down at crucial moments, and we had many years of similar financial, tactical, professional and performative superiority that our six fingered 'cuzzins' down the road had to endure in the way we have been force fed by the Venky era. We'd all love it if it was a level playing field again, or even better if the odds were stacked in the Blue and White favour... It is a game of football. We have home advantage and a wily and insightful manager who is getting more than a decent tune from his well drilled team of misfits, might-have-beens, and folk-heroes in the making.. All we can do is our best, on the field and from the sidelines. So, one and all - COYB!!

Like Rovers have ever been proactive under the Wanksters 😠 It just isn't going to happen like that. Having JE at the helm might help to achieve a better long term outcome, but unfortunately the job description was written for a one-armed mute with low expectations and a passive attitude towards being gaslit. -

Yes, that is something that is there for all to see, the team actually seem to like each other, and are incredibly demonstrative when we score and win. Yesterday's scenes after equalising were brilliant to see, and indicative of a group of players that are working well together, for the good of the team. Their bond with our excellent travelling support is great to see too - every player seems happy to engage, and Danny Baath's pleasure at notching yesterday was there for all to see and enjoy. -

Keepers generally improve with age and experience into their late 20s and across their 30s, as their ability to read the whole game from the back increases over time and number of games completed. Where there are major flaws in their game, these can generally be coached out, assuming they are spotted and worked on. I think this is what we are seeing with Pears, whose stock will increase as his game gets better over time. Of course there are some attributes, and potentially significant ones that are sometimes fundamentally negative (e.g. height, reflexes, visual acuity) that remain as constraints on the level of development that is possible, But if you think of where Pears has come from, to where he is this season, it is clear that he has improved, has more confidence and, crucially, has the confidence of the players in front of him, The stats tell the story, and JE appears to be enough of a man-manager to be capable of making the decision to replace players for the good of his team, and he has stuck with Pears thus far. In JE we trust; In Pears' hands we hold our hopes. In Rovers we believe. COYB! -

you cant concede 0 😉 (zero is a failure to concede!) But the point was well made. Fine margins in this division separate the winners from the losers. We need to increase our firepower and maintain our stinginess in defence if we wish to continue flirting with a top 6 position. -

Cricket score, miserly bore-fest, rub of the green, avalanche of goals, nicking one in the last minute, heroic last stand...NONE of it really matters! What actually matters is that we can go to Yarkshire with our heads held high and everything to play for - for a change! A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL! COYB! -

To be fair the forecast in Leeds is for dry conditions around match time and a moderate breeze, so I guess it should be on. -

I don't think anyone has any rose-tinted spectacular views on our prospects for tomorrow's game, especially as we've stuttered somewhat since losing the steadying influence of our Captain shithouse who, despite being tarred by some with the harsh brush of anonymity, has quietly provided much needed backbone and steel upon which the team has flourished this season. This is one game where we definitely need Mr Todd Cantwell to show some of his better qualities and to lead by example. We know that we will concede chances, and that we are vulnerable down the right flank, but we can also create chances too. On the day it will be a question of holding our nerve, riding our luck and shouting on the brave Blue and White army to deliver their best for the massed ranks of fans who have made the short ish journey. Would like to think we can pull a rabbit from the hat, but am more inclined it will just be a dog eared sock puppet, stained with Christmas drink..Based on the second half performances against the Mackems and Humberside's finest it seems unlikely that we will suddenly click in front of goal, and therefore we will need a stellar show from our rearguard. New Years Day Cheer - an honourable draw for the boys in pink or blue and white New Years Day Roar - Rovers complete an unexpected double over one of the favourites for promotion in 2025 New Years Day Hangover - Worse than an episode of Doctor Who, not even watchable from behind the sofa where one has collapsed due to over-libation and fear of peeking out between fingers over the forehead.. You get my thumbs up for the use of the word 'Hubris' in connection with the Rovers today. We can all remember dark times not too long ago when there was absolutely no cause for 'extreme pride, arrogance or dangerous over-confidence, leading to complacency and failure'! At least we can feel some pride these days, and with good cause. Agreed it is somewhat foolhardy to go predicting a win by a large margin, lest we forget the maxim that 'anyone can beat anyone in this league'. However, the team is currently led by someone who is the antithesis of hubris! Here's hoping we get another dose of hubris-inducing pride in the shirt, commitment to the cause and heart-swelling excitement on Sunday! COYB!! -

Hull will want to avenge the reverse fixture down the M62 so will be looking to exploit our frailties (mind you, any team worth their salt will do their homework and be a threat, so no change there). I'm expected JE to get his troops psyched up appropriately, with the long game in mind. Clearly we aren't going to win against every team in the division, and we have sufficient question marks and passengers on our books to ensure we can't be 100% confident of anything until the final whistle goes in a game. I hope we begin another mini-run after the comeback yesterday, with Yuki getting into positions to nick some more poachers goals, Cantwell finding better form and beginning to dominate where his quality allows, and our defence showing the steel and resolve that I am beginning to feel with see us through safely this campaign. It was a poor decision to flag the 'second goal' scored by Dolan as offside, as he wasn't in an offside position when the ball was played forward and it came back to him for the strike that went into the net. At 2-0 Rovers might have had more momentum to carry through the rest of the game. And, much as I'm delighted for Harry Leonard, he doesn't seem to have the quick feet and speed of thought that are the hallmark of a good striker. Maybe more game time will sharpen him up.. Overall a good result in a surprisingly even contest against one of the division's form sides. I'll take that, all day! Well done JE for instilling some bouncebackability into this group of players.
