  1. Yes Sanderson is quick, I wouldn't say he has oodles of pace but he can certainly get up and down the pitch quite quickly.
  2. Despite us being relegated from the Championship, Sanderson was pretty decent for us last season, and when on loan from Wolves to us the season before as well. Eustace will know how to get the best out of him. Just because you’ve signed him from a lower division doesn’t mean he’s an inferior player. The reason he is surplus this season at Birmingham is partly because he doesn’t fit in with our manager’s tactics and also because as often happens, managers prefer their ‘own’ players whom he deems to be better. Sanderson is mostly a very decent defender but can be prone to making silly mistakes occasionally, but then in a poor team last season the poor play from others around him might have contributed to those errors. He can also sometimes be good at picking a perfect pass out of defence and upfield to one of the attackers. Obviously I don’t know the merits of your other defenders, but all in all I think he could well be a decent loan signing for you, certainly as a squad player and perhaps even as a regular in the starting eleven if he settles in well. We Brum fans aren’t too bothered about him going, but that’s more to do with the excellent form of our other defenders rather than thinking he’s not good enough. I hope it all works out well for him, and good luck in your pursuit for the play-off places.
  3. Yes Wycombe's success has confounded everybody, especially the bookies. Normally I'd be pleased for them as I like to favour underdogs, but I'm hoping that now we're entering the 2 games a week period for the next couple of months, our big squad of decent players will prove to be a big advantage over the other teams. At least we have games in hand, but we all know they count for nowt unless they're won. By the way, although Eustace was well liked by we Blues fans, the rumours were that he is a villa fan.
  4. Very true. I'd forgotten it was that early in the season.
  5. Thanks all for the great and detailed responses. I love to see in depth how other clubs (outside the boring Premier League) are doing, and particularly so with you lot because I really like Eustace and what he achieved with us and then the appalling way he was treated. We all obviously passionately love our own teams, and loathe certain others, but we all share the same passion for this wonderful game of football, especially when we’re doing well. With you he’s done exactly what he did here, i.e firstly making you hard to beat and organised, then building on that with some decent football. Add in some tremendous workrate and team spirit and you get the winning formula. But just like we are, you’re always fearful that this won’t last, particularly as it was unexpected, and you’re fearful it's going to go pear shaped and your hopes dashed. It’s in the DNA of fans of teams such as yours and ours I think. This is what happened to us last season, except it wasn’t a dip in form, it was losing Eustace when doing well in 6th place, and the chaotic downward spiral and laughing stock of a mess that followed and resulted in relegation. We may be riding high at the moment after our obscenely massive transfer dealings, but most Blues fans including me, are still fearful that it may all go wrong. The irony last season was that we were so relieved to finally getting rid of sh*t owners after years of struggle and turmoil, yet it was the new owners who made this crazy decision. Thankfully other than that they’ve been brilliant. Hopefully you will soon be rid of the Venky’s. I know your situation is a bit different, but we really were in despair and couldn’t see any way that we’d be able to get rid of ours, then out of the blue they announced they were selling. So there may be hope for you yet. Anyway, thanks again for sharing your thoughts, it’s been really interesting. Who knows what the rest of the season holds, and we of course will never know how Eustace would have fared had he stayed with us, except that we definitely wouldn’t have gone down. The same as you don't know either, but I really hope that he gets you into the play-offs, and who knows, promotion even? Best of luck .
  6. Hi all. Birmingham fan here - I come in peace 🙂. When Eustace first joined you I saw the the reception on here was somewhat lukewarm, and despite his success with us and the fact that we Blues fans were so gutted he'd been sacked, I can sort of understand why you didn't get that excited about the appointment. So I'm genuinely interested to see what you all think of him now. I presume you're quite pleased with the results and being up there near the top of the table. I don't have Sky Tv so I've no idea how you're playing but I presume he's got your team well organised and disciplined. Is your football entertaining, boring, or perhaps a mixture of both? Ours was quite mixed but generally our games were entertaining enough to enjoy. We were lukewarm when he first arrived too, but in the end he was well liked at Birmingham, our fans in the main thought he was doing a great job, and were so annoyed when he was sacked. It was around this time of year and in a similar position to where you are. Little did we know what a disaster the rest of the season would become! Good luck for the rest of the season 👍
  7. Your owner situation seems to be so similar to what we had for 10 years at Birmingham until the Yanks bought us last summer. We could see no way out of it and thought we'd never be able to get rid of them. We were so relieved, but were angry about the new owners sacking Eustace because they wanted their 'own man' especially as his replacement was the utterly useless Rooney. Eustace should be alright as he will be used to working under crap owners and I really hope he does the biz for you. He deserves another chance.
  8. Head Coach, but he did have a big say in who we signed, helped by the fact we have an excellent director of football (ex player Craig Gardner) .
  9. I'm a Birmingham fan but please be gentle! Any new appointment is a gamble especially with the shit owners you have. Eustace was in a similar situation at our club and this seemed to work in his favour. He created a type of siege mentality us against the world amongst the players and the fans. The players would run through brick walls for him and we fans appreciated their hard work and attitude. And his reputation as a defensive minder manager is a bit unfair, because we played some decent football at times. What he is good at is getting a team well organised and first and foremost making them hard to score against. Get the defending right and build on that to start playing good football. We were gutted when he was sacked. In his previous season he had stabilised a team which had been a shambles and kept us up with games to spare, and this season, following some low budget summer signings we were in 6th place after 10 games. I really hope he does well with you (after Tuesday obviously) and I think you could have done far worse. I wish he was still our manager to be honest, especially as we have much better owners now.
