  1. Personally I doubt Eustace really wanted to extend. He was just trying to appease the fans by saying that. He knew there were wouldn't be any guarantee of funds as he has just been through two transfer windows. Having said that the club should have proactively been offering him an extension and we need to understand why we werent at least offering... on realistic terms. The best chance of contract extensions for players, playoffs or champ stability I feel was under Eustace. A new deal and some funds would turn out to be cheaper in the long run than the potential disaster that is heading our way. Bad decisions will eventually catch up us. It was going to be hard for any manager to come in get more out of that squad than Eustace. Rovers have put terrible midweek performances in under Eustace, JDT, Mowbray too but last night morale looked very low and concerning 3 games into a new managers reign.
  2. I don't recall any of those teams being 7th in the Premier League and so well run .... prior to the disaster.
  3. Has there ever been a more distarous ownership in sport let alone football? Yes clubs have dropped down lower than us (so far), but ownerships have changed hands unlike us. Realistically a club like Rovers you will only get one good ownership and period of success in a lifetime. Unfortunately we've had it. The power of the clubs in Cities is a lot more appealing to investors. Eustace was overachieving. The injuries caught up with us again after 3 poor windows. It will only get worse in the summer window with the loans and free's leaving. Why would he stay? The irony is if we spent an extra £2-3m in Jan this headache may not have occured. If they tried to attempt players like Brittain, Hyam, Hedges, Eustace in to new contracts when we were 6 unbeaten and there was positivity around the club then again this headache may not have occured. This is a huge kick in the balls. We may dodge a bullet this season due to points on the board but the summer after next could be disater with potential relegation and number of players out of contract. Just a shame it's happening to us when we were one of the best run clubs in the country under John Williams.
  4. I agree with this. The club has no long term strategy, they are just trying to put out fires window to window. Loan signings and 1 year deals will come back to haunt us this summer or next. We needed 8-10 signings last summer to have a squad to be competive for the WHOLE season so we don't panic in January but thats never gonna happen realistically. I don't expect to compete with the relegated clubs, just want to see some sort of plan. With all the players potentially leaving for free, where is the next transfer fee coming from? Carter? I don't blame the players leaving for free, much more lucrative for them and the clubs will cash in with loan fees or sales if they don't hit the mark, easy money. I think FIFA and UEFA need to address the bosman rule now as it's crippling smaller clubs losing their assets for free and bumping up the wages of players. I don't think a club like us can keep a player for more than 2 years without risking them walking for free. Anyway, let's see if Dennis, Woodrow & Riberio can get fit and up to speed quickly as none of them have really played this season.

  7. Agree on this. We overpaid massively and never lived up to the price tag following his promising loan season. Good servant, worked hard but just not worth the money. If he wasn't at Rovers you probably would have took him for £1m-£1.5m now. At least he was happy to move and not sit and walk for free like the current trend is for players next year. Probably could have got more money for himself next year being a free agent.
  8. Averaged 17 league games a season across the last 4 seasons. Played 8 games last year. Not for me, it would be another Ayala situation. Good player, experience, but big wages and fitness will most likely let him down. But.... beggers can't be choosers 😐
  9. I hope we don't blow the bank and pay a stupid fee and stupidly high wages just to appease the fans after the January mess. Need to spend the money wisely across the team. I was dubious in January about how much we have scouted this guy with no academy experience and limited professional experience.
  10. I have similar concerns, surely there has to be more options closer to home. He also remindes me of Gally, second touch a tackle 😂 . To be fair he has scored goals in MLS but still I hope we spend our limited money wisely rather than one big signing.
  11. Reminds me of Kevin Davies looking at his clips on Youtube. Looks like a bit of a lump, questionable touch. But good luck to him if he signs.
