Any communications to the fan base will need to have wording in it to discourage division, infighting and arguing between supporters over whether they choose to boycott. There will also be some groups of supporters less likely to boycott who clearly shouldn't face derision or abuse for attending. I'm thinking of certain vulnerable groups like some disabled or very elderly supporters. For them, attending might be a very important part of their routine and we don't want to put these fans at risk from infighting or pressure. Edit - I'm not saying that anyone on here would behave badly to fans who disagree with their views, but unfortunately there are some idiots I've seen and heard over the years who can't behave. -

I think everyone knows the fan base is still there without the need to actively call for people to turn out. I think too many instructions and caveats will distort the message. Let's call for just one boycott at one match, initially. There was 26-27k home fans at the East Lancashire derby last year, we took 5k to Preston this year, 6k to Sheff United for the FA Cup quarter final, 6k to Anfield about a decade ago, 5k to Doncaster on a midweek for promotion. 26k on against Oxford in L1. I've no doubt that if we had somehow made our way into the playoffs there would be 30k fans after a Wembley ticket. When there is a huge fixture even many of those who stay away are temporarily drawn back in with their fingers crossed that things will change (they won't under Venkys). I'm not worried about demonstrating we still have an active fanbase. There's plenty of evidence. I'm one of the few still attending and I'm briefly prepared to stop to send a message. We need to think about how we communicate/convince/plead with the other remaining attendees to make a stand. Just for one game. -

This is my position, ST holder every year since 1998, very reluctant to give up going no matter what. However, if there was specific games organised as a boycott I would bite the bullet and join in. Or if I thought not renewing and staying away for a couple of games as part of a mass co-ordinated effort to do the same would get rid of the owners, I'd join in with that too. The Blackpool boycott took a while but eventually forced their owners out, the Sheff Weds one worked almost immediately. Two different owners and sets of circumstances with those clubs. Maybe one very significant and humiliating boycott for the club (e.g. the Sheff Weds game) would be enough to show that it isn't a minority of fans who are angry and the degree to which we're angry. -
I'm from Blackburn and I'm well aware of the rivalry, I grew up with it, same as everyone else. But thanks for not patronising me. Crowing about them being shite in the Premier League while we're shite in the league below and haven't laid a glove on them for 15 years is like pointing out your neighbour has a few loose roof tiles while your own house is on fire.

Ismael offered to forgo transfer money in order to fix the pitch (stupid idiot). Maybe he would forgo his redundancy package if he understands the importance. -

On this exact day in 2016 we lost to Brighton 3-2 at Ewood (Duffy scored on his return). This was the line-up, it was a team that was relegated with 51 points. Is it better than the team now? I think so, just about. I'm worried we won't get to 51 points this year and what that means. -
I can't stand them and hope they lose every single game 'til the end of the season, but we really have nothing to crow about. Some people are saying on here there was less than 6k at Ewood midweek (don't know whether that's confirmed) and the atmosphere at Ewood is just as bad as it is at their farm this year. The Dingles might have lost 6 in a row but I've no doubt if they played Venky Rovers next weekend they'd absolutely run through us. I think going on about their form or attendances will just make us look daft. I'm more worried they'll still be a division above us next year, even though they're coming straight back down 😞

If that attendance figure is correct, that means with approx 300 Oxford fans, there was 5300 home fans, when we have c.8000 ST holders. So that means basically no walk-ons and 33% of ST Holders staying away. That's death row stuff for our club if that attendance fig is accurate. -

Just a thought, looking at the table. Hull City are 6th. They stayed up last season on the last game of the season, they've been under some kind of transfer embargo and could only sign freebies. So they spent zero money and turned a relegation fodder team into one challenging the top 6. We should have absolutely loads of money to spend based on previous sales. Yet we've gone from challenging the top 6 to relegation fodder, losing tons of championship experience and bringing in a load of players none of us had heard of, most of which are rubbish. How's this happened? Wouldn't be down to how competent the decision makers at the club are, or anything like that? -

I don't pity him in the slightest, he's infuriating. His performances aren't anything to do with not playing enough minutes, he should be fresh as a daisy, he does a couple of early sprints then does nothing. He also genuinely doesn't appear to understand the offside rule. -

Well done to Ohashi on scoring a quality goal. Other than that, usual guff. Fascinated to hear what Ismael's excuse is for this one, because it's never his fault. Hope he has his sheet of paper to wave around at the presser again. Idiot. -
Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach
StHelensRover replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I had been feeling sorry for Gueye about this, then with the very last kick of the game at Fratton Park, where we should be focused and doing everything to get an equaliser, he was a mile offside, waving his arms around complaining at everyone else. Flag went up and final whistle went. Ship him out with the manager. -

Pompey had lost 7 of last 9 matches apparently going into that one. -

6 minutes added, time to throw the kitchen sink at them and nick a draw, not sure we know how though. Come on Rovers -

Oh well. Apparently, if it wasn't for a bit of the rain and the fact that every referee hates us and is conspiring against us, we'd be near the top of the league and we're clearly in a false position. That's what the club hierarchy and some on this board have said anyway. -

Pompey well on top but Valerian has just made a couple of subs in the midfield. His subs normally make things worse, fingers crossed that's not today! -

Some great saves from Aynsley to keep us ahead but once again we've crumpled under any sustained pressure. Crowd up now, going to be a tough 30 minutes. We have to be aggressive and go again, if we have it in us -

First half an hour has been another cracking advert for the Championship. It's like rewatching the Oxford match from Tuesday. -
Blackburn Rovers Women

Thanks for confirming. I think I meant automatic relegation but forgot to be specific. Even if we aren't automatically relegated, these horrible owners will probably ask for us to be relegated again at least one more division to 'find our level', we'll soon be running round on public parks playing against pub teams. -

StHelensRover replied to Proudtobeblue&white's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Rock bottom of the 4th division without a single point. They were deliberately relegated two divisions and it's very soon about to be 3 divisions. (Edit- I dunno whether there's relegation this low down the women's pyramid. I'm guessing the damage is so catastrophic that they won't recover from this for years, our name is complete mud in the women's game, we're more likely to fold). Is that what our owners think of providing opportunities to young women in the sport? Our billionaire owners who love our club. -

Looking at the three fixtures of Sheff W Oxford Pompey I would have preferred 9 but accepted 7 points from those matches, given the unpredictability of the division. The fact that we've now only got one point from them because the replay is probably months off, is making me panic. Tomorrow is the toughest match of those three and if we don't win we're sucked right back in. That game in hand will linger over us for ages now and nothing is guaranteed from it. That game in hand against Wednesday might come when we're in real trouble and there will be so much pressure on it. The last 15 years has shown that we never turn up under pressure. I have a feeling tomorrow will be an ugly draw, 0-0 or 1-1. Not great for either side. -

It's probably from reading people like me on here, saying that I think Ismael is a dud manager and that Gueye is one of the worst players in the club's history. It is harsh sentiment, but it's not abuse and it's an opinion about a professional's ability to do a job they're paid to do. I spend all my hard earned money following this dud manager and these crap players round the country, so I can say what I like about them as long as it's not illegal or bigoted.
