Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach
StHelensRover replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I wish people would stop making excuses for this manager. He is complicit in the shite and wafer thin squad that we have. Every team gets injuries and suspensions, he doesn't get a pass because of it. If the recruitment and turnover in players was below his expectations and worse than what he originally agreed to, he'd walk out, like most managers (see our last two). He's still here and has never said a word about it, so stop feeling sorry for him. We looked tactically clueless last night. Alebiosu tearing down the wing and putting in (mostly) good quality deliveries to no one. The other key tactic was to hoof the ball down the middle of the park to Ohashi and Gudjohnsen, who are short, slow and not overly physical. As the game drifted on the 'tactics' went out of the window and we looked clueless. That's all VI's fault. -

You could have easily fit everyone who was in the entire stadium into the Blackburn End or Darwen End. There is no way it was one third full. -

I've been of the opinion since the home defeat to Bradford City that I would snap anyone's hand off for 21st place. -

There was a few seconds of play in the second half near the Darwen End that was like a comedy sketch, both sets of players trying to control the ball, failing and knocking it into the opposition player, who then did the same. Several people round me just laughed. -

Another masterclass from VI. I wonder what the fewest number of home wins we have had in a season is, we must be well on track to beat it We at least must be on the way to a pre-xmas record. -

Two awful teams who will be scrapping it out for 21st place come (what) May. What another waste of time that was. -

Easily the lowest turnout I've ever seen for a league game at Ewood. 7k at most. The atmosphere has been funereal the entire half, long periods of silence, like being at The Crucible The football from both sides has been guff. From where I stand it looked like a foul on Miller for their goal, but let's be honest, it was coming anyway. Stinking first half. -

There's two teenage lads in NO1 in swim shorts, goggles and armbands. Very good.😄 -

If ever there was a fixture people might be willing to boycott surely it would be the replayed fixture versus Sheffield Wednesday. It's going to be far enough in the future for people to spread the word about it and it holds significance as a fixture caused by the incompetence of the owners. -

Sidney in the line up. Was hoping they meant Sweeney or the Opera House but unfortunately it's Tavares -

Met office now predicting 40% chance of rain through until 5pm. Does the high winds have an effect on the water on the pitch at all? -

I was also very surprised they weren't more visibly proactive on Saturday. Before the game and during half time, but I don't know much about all the technology. Having said that, I'm not sure it would have been enough, just to use the rollers, as the rain was so constant that almost as much water was hitting the pitch as they were taking off and it didn't stop. -
This was a good listen. I bet it was disappointing to do a deep dive on the manager only days/hours before his post-Ipswich shopping list meltdown, then to have him come out swinging yesterday regarding the state of the pitch. You couldn't have forecast that ☔ Maybe you'll have to do an emergency update episode on the developments.

Very heavy rain forecast until between 2-3pm then not much rain for the 5 hours up to kick off. I'm guessing and hoping that 5 hours is long enough for the pitch to go from a saturated state to a playable state, even with our busted up old facilities? If they have staff out with those rollers for a couple of hours, will that do the trick before the teams warm-up at about 7.15pm? -
This draw was probably on a small shortlist of "anyone but them" for fans of both clubs. Same as with Boro away last season. They'll have to make it a tenner all areas of the ground or no one will bother going.

Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach
StHelensRover replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
It's only taken him the best part of ten months to realise what a circus this is and to speak out against our overlords' reign of error. If he'd spent less time constantly blaming individual players and referees for everything wrong at this football club, he might have learned with great sadness as I have, that almost everything bad that happens at this football club is self-inflicted. Double-down Valerien and tell them where to shove the endless excuses and inaction. 3 years salary up for grabs for you if they don't listen. -

The special brucey bonus from this is that now we'll get to play them after the transfer window has opened, their new owners are in and they'll have been able to sign a few players. By then they won't be as soft an outfit and might mug us off in the same way Ipswich did on Tuesday. -

Clogged up by the shite there's been on the pitch this season. More home games abandoned than home wins -

Billionaire owners who love the club. Can't be bothered to bring the stadium and pitch into the 21st century. I f***ing hate them. One of the world's most historic clubs for 135 years and 15 years of being the biggest laughing stock. Fried chicken adverts, Ronaldinho, Steve Kean, Shebby Singh, Owen Coyle, League One, inability to complete transfer paperwork. Now we have the worst football pitch in the football league. Get them out -

I think there was only one shot on goal in that half and luckily for us it was Yuki's goal. A game very low on quality but if it stays this way until 90+5 mins then I'll gladly and quickly move on. Ground staff were out in force with pitchforks. Hope it holds. Lots of water is spraying about as the subs knock the ball across the pitch. -

Norwich collapsed in the second half, will they be panicking at this point? 13 points from 19 matches. -
The Aynsley Pears depreciation thread.
StHelensRover replied to Neal's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
In the last 3 or 4 years I've regularly torn my hair out about Pears to the point I've hardly any left. However, since he has recently returned to the starting XI I don't think he has done anything wrong. I don't blame him for any of the results we've had and can't see how Toth would have made a difference. Overall Toth is a more skilled goalkeeper and I would put him back in when available, but Aynsley's not a villain for me at the moment. He does like playing against Sheffield Wednesday though...
