Would like to see Tyjon get on in 2nd half. A lot of faith being shown in Montgomery, he must have been impressive in training having been at Chorley so recently. He's not the one I would have seen coming through at RB this year, I had higher hopes for Duru. -

ST sales a huge problem, they need as much revenue from fans as they can get to stop Venkys having to spend. It's why they've been all over waves doing interviews all of a sudden trying to pretend everything is ok. -

Given a c.10% reinvestment from Wharton/Raya/Sammie money, gives us maybe 500k... -

He did at times, but he also had to start from next to nothing in our League 1 season and fly to India every time he had to even try and persuade the owners to buy someone. Not to mention how they screwed up the Rothwell and Lenihan situations in all too familiar contract bungling. The Rothwell situation was particularly frustrating as it ruined the playoff push (he didn't care anymore), and denied Mowbray money to reinvest in January; another classic anti-ambition January window. By the end he was also abruptly and disgracefully ignored by the owners, who let him walk at the end of the contract without even talking to him. -

Exactly right, Mowbray, JDT and Eustace all managed to drag us to top-8 championship form, despite constant meddling and kneecapping by the execs/owners behind the scenes. -

Exactly, this is a decision they are choosing to make, and it makes them unfit to be owners of a football club. End of story. -

Pasha also needs to be held to account for his claims about going to India and asking Venkys for 20 million to keep the club afloat and then begging for transfer fees on top of that. The basic duty and expectation of the owner is to cover running costs every season, no questions. If you have to ask them then they are not fit to own, end of story. It's not a charity or good ownership to pay that money, its the job. Good ownership is covering those costs and investing more money into the players, coaches, youth system, facilities etc. -

Gestede talking about how we won't have a budget of 15-20 million, and we won't reinvest all the money from player sales. No surprises there. Pathetic as usual to say "we aren't that club anymore". Why? We have FFP leeway and they can afford it if they want to? This is exactly why the fans are so angry at them, they just can't be bothered to fund the club properly, in player trading, maintenance, anything. -

Gestede talking about summer window, usual guff about needing to sign a bunch of player, and that we will probably have to sell too. Interesting that he corrected himself from "reinvest" from player sales to "some money perhaps" (paraphrasing). Also said we won't have a budget of 15-20 million like other teams because "we aren't that club anymore". Why? The owners can afford it, we have the FFP leeway? Why can we as fans not expect to have a competitive budget just because they can't be bothered anymore? -
Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach

Given the situation he joined the club in, I think a 3-month break clause would actually have been a fairly standard clause to insert. Gives both sides until the end of the season to assess again. They would never announce it as part of the top-line 3 year deal but from a business standpoint it makes perfect sense (to anyone except our execs perhaps...) Glen presumably trusts his source, and frankly I have more faith in him than Nixon. -

Awful performance, even if it has improved in second half. Useless manager and coaching staff, players not interested, they've seen JDT and Eustace get screwed over and seem just as apathetic as the fans. Nice to equalise, but worry it just buys Ismael time which none of us want. -

Amount of infighting is pathetic and entirely detrimental to the club; crazy that they are more focused on squabbling for petty power than making our club better. Not going to absolve any of them, Waggott has his fair share of issues, but he comes across as less inherently destructive than Suhail. Potentially an explanation for Mowbray not getting renewed, as he was very much in with Waggott and they were able to control things for a while. JDT who know who chose him, they accidentally got themselves a talented and ambitious manager, with a competent (ish) DoF in Broughton who they then conspired to screw over by "not submitting the form" (this was 100% a directive from Suhail/Venkys not to spend, guarantee it wasn't Gregg). Eustace was also a Waggott pick by all accounts and a good championship manager who motivated players to in and around the playoffs, before again being screwed over by Suhail seemingly. Ultimately, they all have to go, we need a clean slate, apparently down to coaching team if DL has been undermining managers. -

Shocking if true. David Lowe rumour seems particularly odd when Venkys seem to have so little interest in anything, and it would also undermine Suhail/Waggot at the top of the tree. Rudy being a pawn not such a surprise, how else would he have got the job. Such a fan of the club he forced a move away... Downgrading the academy would be unbelievable self-sabotage even for them, when their whole "plan" is to give academy lads more time to save paying senior players... but again wouldn't put it past them. -
Pathetic that they are trying to portray activating Hyam's extension as a new contract.

Gotta hope they don't try and double-down out of spite/arrogance having convinced themselves he is the "best in every metric". Would be a very Venky's thing to do... -

Praying that there is a 3-month break clause, on top of the crap results and non-existant tactics, the players clearly loathe him so yhe has to go. Was the issue with not backing Eustace who the players loved, new guy would have to be incredible to have any hope of winning them over and Ismael just doesn't. "Best in every metric" has to be an attack line against the boards incompetence. Eustace was "best" we could have got this season and they f*cked it just they they f*cked JDT. -
A good re-signing, as noted form fallen off a bit from a very bright start, but good competition for Pickering at LB and a solid championship player. But this was the easy deal to do, don't imagine his wages will be that high having been in Poland and Portugal before us. Travis, Brittain, Tronstad are the ones we desperately need to tie down and just won't because they want and deserve a salary above 10k, which I am sure has been rumoured at times as our desire top wage bracket.

100% they will not change and Suhail basically confirmed as much in the Lancs interview. He ducked the question when asked if we would sign big ticket players anymore, they tried to talk up a budget of 4.5 million this year, which is less than we paid just for Gallagher. No interest in funding us anything above running costs and minimal transfers. We deserve owners who will at least try to improve the team not just keep us on life-support as we drop down the leagues. Especially as we finally have an FFP window within which to spend. -

Thanks for the clarification with regard to the internal debt, I've not examined the latest accounts in detail. They 100% bought us on the cheap in 2010, but that they mentioned the debt so close to when they were talking about a sale makes me think its a hint they want that written off if they are to sell; it could even be what they mean when they say "no concrete offers", ie they haven't offered that. Given the way football club values are going, and what we've seen with regard to investors in other sports and clubs smaller than ours, it's not unreasonable to imagine them thinking they can fleece any new owner to cover the debt. Even if it is entirely their own fault the situation is as bad as it is. Don't know how writing off the debt would affect their other businesses or the court case, or if the liquid cash is any better in that regard, but I suspect it will be playing a part. -

Been a reader but never a poster here for a while, finally decided to join as a member. I applaud the actions taken by Glen et al, the fact that Waggott, Suhail and Gestede felt the need to go on such a press push yesterday shows the plan to pressure on them is working. Frankly some of the excuses they gave were embarrassing, they bank entirely on fans not understanding how FFP works or looking at the registered accounts which as others have highlighted disprove Suhail's statements on the funding. Suhail did effectively confirm that the owners aren't interested in funding anything above daily running costs. When asked in the Lancs interview if now "barriers are lifted" on funding we will see transfers like Brereton or Gallagher again he just said no the owners don't want that but are committed to funding value transfers. Likewise as someone posted in the other thread, Gestede's 5 targets are notably the positions where we are not renewing current players on higher wages. The "we're close to renewing contracts" boxes them in, because I just cannot see them doing anything until the end of the season when they will go cap in hand and ask Venkys to keep the lights on for another year. Frankly, the major positive from yesterday is their phrasing that the owners have "not asked us to look for a buyer"; they did not deny willingness to sell as they have done in the past. They also sketched out in surprising detail what they wanted to hear from a prospective buyer, implying that they would expect the debt to be paid of (c.300 million according to Waggott) alongside the value of the club. Others with more knowledge can comment on such matters but it is a small light. Keep up the good work.
