After logically thinking Chris Sutton...wanting to vote for Tony Field, knowing it was probably Southworth, wishing it had been Fred Pickering I voted blind SIMON GARNER!! And then found out that 50%...old and young...had voted with their hearts. A week before the trip to Yorkshire I am not surprised. Get the plane ready with the message!

" John - i want you to play the next 5 games and make the place your own and forget about the season so far...as far as I'm concerned for you it starts today" Overheard Hughesy to Stead 2pm today. Come on lets warm up for next week and thanks to everyone making a special effort to be there today( and NO Thanks to anyone making a lame excuse and missing todays vital match) With 28 points and April's fixtures we can concentrate on the Cup.

Got my 3 tickets by 10.45 this morning and think the system was fair.Earlier on Monday got 2 tickets for me and mate with 2 Away stubs. So The first 2 were rewarded and if I had been too late for remaining 3 then it would have been unfortunate but tough. As a Sofia Away queuer who got to the outside door but no further when queueing for Celtic away then this was much fairer. 14,000 does go into 3,800 but the result is 0.271 or 1 chance in 5 of a ticket. Ask Jim what it were like in 1960 wi'th postal ballot!

Briggs and Garner only in lower leagues. Sutton and Southworth at top level. Southworth scored most goals and most England caps. It is much easier to emotionally vote for Jansen or Garner. This last choice is going to be a farce and I can see the vote being split 4 or 5 ways. HELP!

Got 2 of mine at 1.30pm ...steady trickle by then. Back Wednesday for the 3 others we need. Numbers so far about right - need to show Dingles and Brum how to run a ticket operation(after years of trying and failing)

How would "soft bazza" have coped with the Cup Draw?.As he came out the tunnel at the Dingledome and tasted the venom he probably would have turned round and run back for his mamma. They may have been only average for us but at least no one will forget Jason MaCateer and Benty. FA Cup matches like that are where you prove your fitness to wear the badge and the legendary colours and "Soft Bazza" has swapped it for Partick Thistle.

Queueing at Ewood is like being with your extended family. Queueing at The Turf Bog is being with your family(if you could think) And while we're at it : "Hitler made the autobahn to get his tanks into other countries... The Department of Transport made the M65 to get the 80 Rovers Coaches safely to Turf Moor" ANON

And importance to the Club e.g. Southworth,Garner,Briggs,Ted Harper and the great Tony Field. I shall probably vote for Sutton ...when have Rovers players ever been known by their initials worldwide? S.A.S.

Tonights LET match- report scores Thommo ....wait for it...7 This is of Claretesque proportions.A 4 would have been generous. Lets hope he is "trying too hard".

For last night's game I bought 5 extra tickets for friends, met them in a pub on A59,drove em to and from match, talked to them rather than my football mates. 3 have paid me so far for the tickets and I may get the money back from the other 2 at £28 a shot. And I am still embarassed about 23,400 and where the other 5,000 were.I am really happy for the pubs and all the keen supporters in them,NOT. -
The hangover is just clearing and its Thursday lunchtime! Isn't the reality that we made 2 mistakes last night -Brads awful attempt at a save and Dichov's penalty. The rest was all about us not being quite good enough to beat one of Europe's(hence the World) best sides - assembled at 5 to 8 times the cost and wages of our 95 team. When you then add THOMMO'S display to end all displays which was a bit like when some Rovers manager played Faz at left-back!! We did brilliantly cos we have no attack force and no central midfield.Tugay should have been on from 20 mins and Amo up front for the last 15 mins. And Thommo walking straight off explains why we should have encouraged Everton to buy him. But the feeling is great.."We can hold our own and God I'm looking forward to Feb 20th!!"

February in Bumley can be quite beautiful, with the mile long convoy of pristine Coaches stretching as far as the eye can see. And all the locals out in their front gardens getting an extra dose of spectacular entertainment (apart from lack of TV license and the lecky wired up to the street light) And going back to "Success City" with our 25 year old record intact : no goals against and into the 6th Round. BRING IT ON!

Soft Bazza RIP. The only Celt to ever get homesick. They built the bridges and railways of the Empire. They served with distinction all over the world in the British Army. They came South to be the first Football professionals. And we get the most undistinguished Captain in our illustrious 130 year old history. Ronny Clayton,Harry Healless,Bob Crompton - your legacy has been besmirched.

I have just checked on mine thenodrug. They are still there plus my wife's tickets. Those can go on ebay and not at £5,10,15 or £19. Genceblierje at Ewood - tickets £5. Guess the crowd? -
I'll play on the wing on that strip of pitch relaid.Second half is a problem. Now I'm worried the pitch is their secret weapon.

The Burnley match should certainly kick-start interest , even of the Inter-East Lancs nature. The acid test would be if there was a replay - could we sell all our tickets? -
Got my Season Ticket,my Cardiff ticket and my Colchester ticket ready for the arrangements.Do i need to take with me my Sofia and Lyon away tickets to prove my need of just ONE ticket for the Dingles in Bumley? Just hope they are brand new Coaches ,all in the same livery and 78 of em like last time. MAGIC...this is why its cool to have a season ticket(even on credit!)

Out of 16 suggestions only the Lancs United got sledged. Agree with 1864 and Savage and Bellamy are a way forward. Its my memory that says how much certain players used to do around the Town e.g. Parkes,Garner,Colin,Dunny.Thats all missing now and will be until 2009 when Big Col comes back as Manager(unless he cocks it at Pool or the next club) Meanwhile there is now only 24 hours 29 minutes to the closure of Transfer Window.Hope John W. is still working. -
Manager list ...Bob Crompton. Won FA Cup and 2 rescues. Has Big Al won yet -been out of the country.

Good posts Paul but can you come up to my place and cut me down. So you are suggesting: 1. free tickets for under 8s 2. graded ticket prices up to 21 yrs of age 3. low interest season ticket plans(incl. Cup matches) 4. half season tickets for less regular attendees 5. ticket sales from the Town and surroundings 6. ticket bundling(big matches with weaker matches or at Chritmas/Easter) 7. a Club/Town 30,000 Campaign(like Charlton) 8. greater redevelopment of the ground and environs 9. proper CLUB shop in the town 10.Bleachers zone at the top of Darwen End with incentives to transfer to other parts of ground. Come on we must become Campaigners as well as complainers(NEW SLOGAN) -
My previous post anticipated us going for Bellamy BUT I was not hopeful. Clearly the Jack Walker Trust has seen the decline in enthusiasm for the team and is stepping in(hopefully with the Dahlin money as insurance!) to have one last go to move us up a tier in the Premiership. Now will you need cheap tickets to support your local team or of your birth? And for those who are 1000s of miles away send your money to Mr JW Williams c/o Ewood Park and the tickets sold will be more than those actually attending! This is ambitious and exciting can we match it? A start would be to get your friends to the Chelsea match.

At 7.15 pm on Wednesday the moment will arrive that determines the match. The team is announced. If it contains Johnson,Matteo.Mokoena or Bothroyd and does not include Nissa,Matty,Soft Bazza or Reid in the 16 then write it off. Emerton must be on the right and MGP on the left and Thommo has to be disciplined ( I know an alien concept to the cheeky chappy). Also expecting Dickov not to be fit so need to play Stead (the best of a very poor bunch). All in all a difficult match for us spectators and fans.Best wishes to you all and may your God go with you.

[Archived] Rovers 3 - 0 Colchester Utd
mhead replied to Paul's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Got to be major changes for the Chelsea match - today was farcical.Jemal J. was like a little boy. Matteo like a caveman. Nelson a big improvement but where was Nissa and Matty? Absolute travesty unless they are included on Wednesday. And thank God for Savage and Todd for all the tidying up they did from ALL the misplaced passes ( 50% from Thommo the headless chicken). Come back "Soft Bazza" its not that bad down here. And 10,600 is a stain on a so called Premiership Club. Use it or lose it. Personally I'm sick of all your excuses. Lets have a poll and see how many on the Members list actually went. Thank god the drummer turned up. Thenodrug I'm with you - I fear for our medium-term future. -
On this one if I had a 100 votes they would all go for Big Al. Those 4 Seasons we had him were so exciting and the VE Night game with Shearer scoring from Le Saux's scooped cross my strongest memory from 1800 games since the late 50s. BUT the player that kept us going during the early 70s when we were as bad as the Dingles was TONY FIELD. Bought for £50k or something like that from Southport he was a poacher and a dribbler.Apart from Sir Roger Jones and Tony Parkes/Stuart Metcalfe/Derek Fazackerly we were so crap that you wouldn't go to the bottom of the road to watch them.Gates averaged 6,500 and Man U/Liverpool took all the glory hunters. Tony Field meanwhile pre-Garner scored most of our goals including a goal at Rochdale that lives in the memory and loads of long runs into the penalty area at Ewood always outpacing the defenders. Went with Ken Furphy to Sheff Utd and eventually played with Pele for the New York Cosmos!! Anyone else remember him?
