  1. Thats harsh ......Burnley is ( no offence meant ) a right hovel. Just to verify your credentials, can you name the pub near the main stand at Selhurst Park (hon. patron G. Courtney)?. Do you mean the Clifton arms on the corner , i don't know who the landlord is because i normally drink in the Cherries outside Norwood Junction train station or the Alliance just up the road a bit . Why do you ask anyway , do you i'm an agent provocteur (sp) Not 'honourable' patron of the pub, 'honorary' patron of CPFC for services to promotion. (ex ref) BTW Correct answer - you may continue......... I was a bit slow on the Courtny one , memory isn't what is was Anyway speaking of pubs i can hear it calling me now ....Hopefully when i wake up tomorrow Hughes will be your new manager and the next time i post on here will be to ask what decent boozers to go to before we play you up there . Good luck tomorrow against the Geordies

  3. Being serious for a minute , Philipl is spot on about the motivation . In 25 years of watching Palace ive never seen one person have so much effect on a team . Another thing is that he will probably bring Fitness coach Harbin with him...Before he came we were like Spurs for injuries , once he had a hand in the fitness regime the physio room became empty . Btw who are the Dingles ?

  5. You obviously don't live in the Crystal Palace / Croydon area then, As grim has a whole different meaning there ! Not any more mate ...and how can you say that about Croydon , look what it has to offer .....Lunar house , rundown housing stock , Burberry caps and Elizabeth Duke jewelry in abundance .....A veritable Utopia really , this is why property is so expensive there
  6. I'm glad your not still bitter over what happened 15 years ago I've been up to Ewood park a few times now and always found your lot quite friendly when i've had a drink before the game ...Its still a bloody grim northern place though About Jordan ...I like the bloke personally but he does bring a lot of trouble upon himself , and his relationship with Dowie is not as good as it once was either .
  7. I never said he was going to be your manager , only that your club had asked CPFC for permission to speak to him . As for him being ugly - you shouldn't mock the afflicted .....When he was a young lad someone set fire to his face and then used a shovel to put the flames out
  8. hi there... appreciate your good intentions. but if there is one occasion that your source is wrong, please god, let it be this time. i'll be gutted too if its true. dowie is up and coming, has shown lots of promise. but definitely not what we need now... I hope so an all mate ...if anyone else had posted something like that i would have ignored until proof was shown , sadly though this person has been right about everything else he's posted . But . It seems like like Hughes is still your preferred choice . so fingers x-ed . The fact that all the bookies have slashed their odds on Dowie and that he is now second favorite everywhere seems to back all this up though.
  9. No Offence but I too would be gutted if this was true. Dowie is an excellent manager but not the type of manager that we need at the moment. None taken , Its just a pity you aint the chairman .
  10. just thought you lot might want an update . Blackburn are going to officially approach Palace for permission to speak to Dowie . This has come from a very reliable source who is rarely if ever wrong . My only hope is that it seems Hughes is more favoured at the moment . Just to add this is not a wind-up or a ploy to make a quick buck on Betfair the only reason i posted it was because this source is always right (sadly) Personally i'm gutted and so will every Palace fan be if he leaves .
  11. This is from the Palace bbs. http://forums.cpfc.org/showthread.php?s=&t...25&pagenumber=1 Capt Kayos , i would think theres a good chance he will after all they are our two best players .
  12. Don't say that - not even in jest , thats the stuff of nightmares
  13. Out of interest what has Dowies attitude toward the youth team been? Has he brought many young players through? Very good actually , he's tried to build a team for the future here , and has resisted the urge to buy over the hill last big pay packet players. If a players good enough he'll play regardless of age .
  14. Watch his odds take a tumble .... I'm sure most of the guests currently on this site are from the bookies, and that this messageboard is in fact a major driver of the wildly fluctuating odds Hehe you've sussed me out mate , i'm laying Dowie as we speak to make a killing , Only joking of course , i came on here to see if you lot knew any more about it than us ....To be honest i hope you get Hughes because Dowie going would finish our club . And this is not being melodramatic we have a chairman who wants rid , we don't own our ground and our finances are dubious to say the least , and lets face it what manager worth his salt would be interested in a job like that .
  15. Hello people . I'm not here to wind anyone up , just to offer my perpective from a Palace point of view . Regarding Dowie , he is not under contract at the moment and he still hasn't signed a four year contract although the offer has been on the table for a while now . His family live in your part of the world and he has stated on several occasions how hard he has found this even though he has said he will not relocate them because he doesn't want there lives disrupted . On top of this something very strange happened in the reserve game against Chartlon last night , where he walked of the pitch at the end looking downwards and refusing to acknowledge the Palace fans which is a first as far as i know . Theres also been an ( unconfirmed ) rumour that his agent has let it be known he is avaliable . Of course all of this is just speculation at the moment and as a Palace fan i would be devastated if he left so i hope it is untrue ...If he does go to your lot though you would have got yourself a superb man manager , after all he took us from relegation fodder to premiership in 5 months with only two loan signings .
