  1. I won't name names but there's a widely respected player of the eighties who said to me, and this is at least six years ago now, but probably more "the first thing that venkys will get right is putting the club up for sale". He's absolutely been proven right to my mind. It's just perpetual torment being owned by these pricks. Why they don't turn it in I have no idea. And to think there's people out there willing to forgive them. Staggering
  2. There was a rovers fanzine, can't remember which one, that did a cartoon step called Jimmy's boots Based on Billy's boots. Except these boots made you "beamo" everything. Suffice to say, it wasn't complimentary in any way
  3. "is anyone there, on the other side? Oh yes"
  4. I should think the medium might have something to say about that.
  5. Them old school trackies, I'm in love. BRFCS should get a run done. And the shirt as well, magic.
  6. I think Wilcox inherited the nickname which doesn't make a great deal of sense but hey ho
  7. Think you're right there. If he still had his tache,I would've known right away never found out why he was called windy
  8. Can anyone name all of these? Back row I have sellars, ???, Hendry, O'Keefe? Diamond? Front row ainscow? Garner, Mackay, ???, Barker, sulley
  9. Loved watching this https://twitter.com/Rovers/status/1508877902779199495/mediaViewer?currentTweet=1508877902779199495&currentTweetUser=Rovers Then old school trackies at the beginning 💕
  10. How could I forget Celtic? I think the first leg in particular was the best I've ever seen us play. That really was an absolute gutter.
  11. "Soft lad" 🤣 I fully endorse that. Whether it was the subs or not, we lost and I think we need to accept and move on now. There's still a lot to play for, let's see what happens.
  12. There was a home game against Brighton, I think he was trying to even things up. He sent three of their lads off including the goalie
  13. I've never crossed paths with their fans before, what's the crack with them?
  14. Well if you're going to include England, then Argentina eighty six, and West Germany 90
  15. Today has totally murdered me. It's made me think of the times that rovers have really brought me low. Palace eighty nine George bloody Courtney, glad all over and going into second leg with a healthy lead. Just absolutely unreal Sheffield Wednesday cup semi in ninety three. We'd just signed Anderson and I was hopeful of a trip to Wembley Leicester at home in ninety two or was it ninety one. I can still remember Russell getting that lucky bounce off mimms, all these years later. We needed a win to get back on track but we lost again The champions League campaign, the first portent that we were on the slide. Trelleborgs at home was a dead rubber. Great expectations come to nought Thecup semi against Chelsea, Morten missing An easy header Defeat against Burnley always hurts of course . think that's it
  16. And that was quite early on, wasn't it? He bottled that and from then on he's given them the green light to play like thugs
  17. Back on his bloody heels is right. I tell you what it is, he's bloody scared to score
  18. Good point, well made. It's not worth it. But it is difficult to take. And they really made me believe for a while. Sheffield being as dirty as they come really is insult on top of injury. And I just can't believe those subs. How it league form doesn't suffer now. I'm just on the floor here boss, how do I pick myself up? I would honestly put that on a par with losing to palace in eighty nine. That's how bad it is
  19. What is it with Gallagher, he's got absolutely no killer instinct at all. If he was a professional hitman he'd shoot himself in the foot. Sheffield United, back in the day they would've been called physical. I call them dirty. There was a few I was getting irate about. The substitutions absolutely killed us. What was he thinking, absolutely gutting. Only women and football can make me feel like this
  20. I can't remember that. But I do seem to remember losing to Newcastle in the 4th round in 99, after we'd beaten Liverpool away. I also seem to remember Jansen scoring a peach in that Newcastle game, and the following season we went up?
  21. Who's Chris Taylor? No idea on that one.
  22. I'd forgotten that it was an Appleton game, thought it was Bowyer. But yeah, it really was appalling to watch. The frustration was unreal.
  23. I can still remember the pain of the Millwall defeat. I can taste it. Just lumping the ball up every time , straight onto the bonce of the big unit they had playing for them. Diabolical. But naturally... "a reet good go that were".
  24. Compare and contrast to the people we have to endure now
  25. Four pages on the Matchday thread? Sad times
