[Archived] More Madness From Mcclaren
broadsword replied to RevidgeBlue's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Was thinking to myself this morning ... you only used to get teh England gig if you had been at the top of Club football for a number of years. Steve McClaren hadn't been a club manager for very long, and for teh money he spent hadn't achieved much, now Shearer wants it, whgat a disaster that would be. They've got to sack McClaren and give it to O'Neill in my book. -

We'll never get anywhere near to winning anything with that prune in charge. Good, because he's even worse than McLaren or however you spell the dozy git's name. If we qualify then McLaren will limp and surely shaft up another tournament and then get off to a rip-roaring cock-up of a start to the next qualifiers. I think the best long-term outcome for English footy is for us to shag it up big-style on Weds. And then massacre the blazers at the FA and put someone in place who knows what they're doing. And tehn get a decent manager in. Someone who has a track record of success. -

I'm not 100% that changing provider would help Den. I haven't got a clue how to see what speed my router says. I'm use http://www.speedtest.net/ My connection is meant toi be 8 meg, but sometimes it's more like 0.25 meg (when everybody else and their dog are online I suppose), but at off-peak times it can be up to 5 meg. I think some quango recently quizzed the leading service providers on why their advertised rates never match up. -
Has McClaren gone yet? Is it safe to come out now. There was a photo of him in the 'paper, both of his feet pointing inwards, touchin at the toes. Really geeky stance, John Major style.

You're right, we still have a chance of qualifying. Just like I still have a chance of shagging Elize du Toit.

It's only those of West African heritage that are the best sprinters, East Africans are as bad as the rest of us. And one of our best young sprinters is white. Anyway, sounds like this Benni geezer needs dropping. Along with Mr Gamst, or is it Mr Pedersen this week. Put them both in the stiffs. -
[Archived] Should Dunny Have Come Home?
broadsword replied to blinddevotion's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
We're starting to get a nucleus of young(ish) players together. I can't see that signing Duff will help much. When was the last time he actually played a game? I haven't mention of him for ages now. Can't see Hughes being interested at all. Kudos to Dunn, I was one of those who lost faith with him when he left Rovers, and who wasn't surprised to see him get injured so much at the Porn Kings. Not that he'd be losing any sleep over my opinion. -

Muffle their drumsticks, there you go, how about that? If reasoning with these people fails, resort to out-and-out sabotage. Or maybe give them recorders, should keep them occupied. Or if banging things pleases them then give them triangles. Preferably of the dairy lea kind. -

If someone doesn't want to sign without a clause, it doesn't matter how much we offer them in wages, they won't sign. They can just stay a year, activate the clause and go off to a bigger club and earn mega-bunce there. I don't think we put these clauses in for fun. -

Revidge, how would offering improved terms minus a clause help? These are players who want to use Rovers as a stepping stone to get their career back on track. Bellamy rejected a better pay deal at Rovers to sign for Liverpool. They're happy to sign for Rovers until something more grand comes along, at which point they want out, pronto. -

I think Hughes was quoted as saying we couldn't have got him without putting a clause in. Benni and Bellamy both knew that although they were going nowhere at their current clubs, someone would come in for them in teh end. -

If we hadn't given Bellamy a clause then he wouldn't have signed. Either we sign top players with clauses or we don't sign them at all, which do you want? -
Bah! Not m,y sort of thing at all. Got Bad Day at Black Rock and The Narrow Margin on DVD recently, proper old-time movies with decent rucking in. Can't beat it.

:-D Sadly, no grenade fuse times to assess. But they do go running in NBC suits. The fitness levels of these people are absolutely astounding. It's actually a good read, I don't think there'll be anymore books on the SAS now as recruits have to signa confidentiality waiver. -

... and if it's not in italics, skip it! Recently read the Quiet Soldier by Adam Ballinger, Flopsy would've been proud. -

I read an excerpt from that once (I am not saying which 'paper). Sure it's a good book, but I need to read stories of teh Germans being given a good kicking! :-) -
