[Archived] Should Dunny Have Come Home?
DanLad replied to blinddevotion's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
He used to be a kind of three toed sloth, apparently. Good for getting curve of long range shots. I'm not sure what he is now. Some sort of mastodon? -

What a nice lad! He's got steel, as well, though, by the sounds of it. -

Hughes isn't above dropping him as was saw last season. If you drop Benni you potentially have to drop half the team that played yesterday! Tough decision. -
[Archived] Benni Mccarthy - Gone
DanLad replied to adam lodge's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
I thought that Benni only started running when he saw Derbs ready to come on. All of a sudden he was actually challenging for the ball... ..unfortunately, he stopped doing that immediately when it became apparent that he wasn't coming off... Saying all of that, was he the only Rovers player who had a decent shot on target? -

Let's not get carried away! He's been great for us this season, but he's a long, long way from an England cap. If he maintains his form with us and never gets another cap that'd be fine by me! -
A bit after the final whistle of the Vetra game I was on my way home and a big Hum-Vee jeep effort joined the motorway at Darwen and sped off at a real rate of knots. I reckoned it was a footballer, although the missus reckoned that she sees loads of these vehicles knocking about! Surprisingly we caught up with it (I was in a Renault Megane!) enough to have a peer in the window and I'm pretty sure Moko was driving and Benny might have been a passenger. I know that's nothing exciting, but there you go...!

Rest in peace, Jack. We miss you.

[Archived] Mark Hughes - Good Choice ?
DanLad replied to Ste B's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
LOL! Superb! -
Didn't Jansen keep dummying the GK until he went down? I seem to recall him swinging his left peg out a couple of times and virtually paralysing the GK! Went straight from work in Manchester. Frigging freezing, but what an atmosphere! Bouncing! Second half we chanted non-stop! After the game the players were congratulating each other and about to trot off when Souness grabbed 'em all and ordered tham to come down to our end to thank the fans for the support we'd given.

I know what you mean, you've had ten one-on-ones with the goalie and five 'he must score!' situations saved by the keeper and they get one half chance and score! To score more goals sometimes you have to go defensive! 4-3-3 helps, too, I reckon. -

Ah! That explains why he struggles to get himself back onside! ;-) -

If you have peoples who are similar and then draw a line between them, whether that line be ideological/geographical or whatever, the peoples on each side of the line instantly become rivals... For the avoidance of doubt, that doesn't include Blackburn/Burnley stuff. Burnley _needs_ a big line (preferably a wall) around it, but doesn't have one... Did anyone notice the 5 most dangerous roads in Britain? No 1 and no 5 were roads out of Burnley. Who thought you could do that much damage on a horse and cart? Stats lie, though. Apparently, the number of serious knuckle scraping injuries on those roads skewed the figures... ;-) -

Well, I've played around with formations and I now play a 4-1-3-2 defensive, counter attacking away from home and a 4-3-3* (A back 4, DMC, 2MC, AML, AMR and ST/FC) attacking at home. They seem to work OK. Rangers won the Champions league and are blazing a trail across Europe again (with some crap players!), by playing a 4-2-3-1. Back 4, 2MCs, 3AMC and an ST/FC. I might give that a bit of a go at some point... -
[Archived] Shabani Nonda Signs

So have we signed Nonda or not? Some people seem to think it's a done deal but I don't recall seeing it anywhere. -

This might be a pain, but could you describe the tactic. The comp I play FM 07 on isn't on the net and this one is too old to play the game on. As a result I can't download your tactic :-( -

Thanks, Cocker. 4-1-3-2 seems good away from home. I'm trying the 4-2-3-1 at home. Is the diamond one better? -
DB has been kicked from pillar to post this season and has been afforded little, if any protection from refs. He's _got_ to try to hurdle tackles or get out of the way or he'd have been in a very bad way this year. Interview with DB... Interviewed - Disappointed with the broken leg, David? DB - Nah, he was clearly going to do me some damage, but I thought I'd stand my ground.

All the tactics mentioned seem to be big clubs with lots of cash and good players. What's a good tactic for Accy Stanley? Dan New to the game... -
There's every possibility that Lucas will fall flat on his face. If that happens I won't care (except to be a bit smug about it:-) He's going and all I want is for us to get a good deal for him. Hopefully we'll use the Neill money to get Warnock and Hughes will turn him into an international quality FB. We might not even miss Neill. 'Man of the match' Lucas Neill had a nasty habit of turning into 'Sent off for horrendous and pointless two footed challenge at the half way line' Lucas Neill... The Lucas Neill 'step over', where he doesn't actually do the step over, will be missed, though. It's class I suppose it should be the Lucas Neill 'body swerve'?

I didn't have a paper round as a lad, as I'd have be forced to move around loads and do something I didn't love. As well as that I couldn't be arsed Seriously, though, good for you Jan. The money 'aint everything. In ordinary life if you get offered a bigger wage you are expected to produce more or work more etc. ie you have to work for it! Footballers don't have to work any harder for any more money...

I think it's fabulous that we have signed a player who WANTS to play for us. It's a problem that we can't attract players and here's one who is _so_ keen to sign for us and _so_ keen to do well. He didn't leave for football reasons and always said that he was a Rovers fan the whole time he was away. Who says that loyalty is dead and all footballers want is the cash? Bravo, Dunny-Lad! -
I _hate_ Konchesky. Please tell me we haven't signed him!

He should certainly visit his friends and relatives over the festive period. So the answer is 'Yes!'
