By the way, for those of us overseas without a television broadcast, remember that rovers.co.uk has Radio Rovers for free for this match. -

Really, now! Paul Gallagher has only been in the senior squad for not even two seasons, and yet you still want to get rid of him. You have hardly given him a chance. Have a look at his record... he has only started in five league games this season (six substitute appearances), scoring two goals. (Add to that one more goal from a League Cup substitute appearance.) That is hardly enough game time to gauge such a conclusion, especially since he is only 21 years of age. But let us not forget that he has improved since last season in terms of goal rate per game, in which he scored three goals from twelve league starts (14 substitute appearances). I find that improvement fairly good, especially since he has been paired with Paul Dickov for most of that time, who none of our strikers has paired well with. Gallagher also has the added bonus of having time on his side, and that is more than a good enough reason to give him a couple of more seasons to prove if he is good enough. I am glad that we have Mark Hughes as our manager, as he is a patient man who is willing work with players and give them a chance to prove themselves. We have already reaped the benefits of this philosophy under Hughes' management, especially in the cases of Morten Gamst Pedersen and Andy Todd, so long may it continue. -
He played at right back, although he always maintained that right wing was his preferred position. I can't be too sure, since I haven't watched recent games involving Emerton, but I think Hughes picks him for the defensive side of his game, which would be a reasonable explanation, given Hughes' desire to keep defence tight. In any case, I'll happily let Hughes be the judge on this selection dilemma, since his general management of the club has been superb.

I don't know how you came about that answer! Anyway, well done, Stead. I was absolutely delighteed for him. His confidence was extremely low, and you could tell earlier in the game, but after that goal he played exactly what an asset he can be. More of that, please! Brad Friedel had a brilliant game today, but I noticed one frustrating thing about him: he rarely comes off his line for corner kicks. There was one corner earlier in the first half which was merely a metre off the line, but he just stayed there and let the players fight it out. And finally, an honourable mention must be given to the unsung hero, Mokoena. He was in there, really getting stuck in, and he headed away quite a few crosses in the corner box. He needs to improve his creativity and vision, though. His passes were usually hasty and given to someone very close by, even though they might be in trouble themself. -

1 - 0 to Rovers for me. MGP to score, with Ryan Nelsen producing another classy performance. -

Souness may have bought MGP but he didn't know how to use him... Sparky has really brought the best out of him & THAT is the sign of a good manager That's the biggest load of crap I've read on this board. Souness gave him a shot, it didn't work out at the time. Who's to say things wouldn't have ended up working out the same? It simply isn't a case of "having a shot and seeing whether you play well or not". Hughes and company have coached him into a better player. I am confident myself that Souness would not have brought out the MGP we see now. More than one player has said that Hughes' training regime is more scientific than his predecessor's regime. -
