  1. Yep I can confirm this, he's got 'legend' status up there. They do speak very highly of Downing, and in fact the other old boys really too. Depending on the lineup is well worth a flutter on Downing first goal, or Graham, or both! Smallwood might be pushing it a bit.
  2. Left back aside, and the Gallagher wing experiment though who in the first team would you be replacing right now? Even then I'd rather JRC get a fair crack and to a lesser extent even Chapman than some short term loanee. Yes there's Walton too at some point but I think we're better scouring Europe from now till the summer for a proper replacement there. After that you're looking at squad players or depth for injuries because, imo anyway the team that started the last few games is capable of the goal we're wishing to achieve. Ain't nobody loaning us players as back up or it completely defeats the point of a loan. All the above does mean we're walking an injury tightrope big time though obviously so it's far from ideal! There must be a decent left back out there somewhere that can slot straight in, no idea whom mind.
  3. Stats point to a 1-1 here folks. Not an absolute disaster by any means really but not much use if we're serious about any top 6 ambitions I really hope he does unleash JRC after bigging him up so much recently, I do however find it had to imagine sadly...
  4. Classic game of 2 halves influenced by Rothwells early departure. Sharpe pointing out 9 of the 11 finishing the game were under 25 so fair play seeing a tricky game out, when you consider we used to crumble in such games under the experience of Mr Mulgrew, amongst others. Some really tricky games coming up, absolutely everything pointing to a draw on Saturday against Boro first up.
  5. The bottom line is we have a fairly small supporter base that's classed as loyal and still passionate about attending. They accept the price is reasonable in the grand scheme of things, which it is. After that we have a chunk of supporters who got pissed off with Venkys and sadly won't attend unless they go. There's still a large number of 'floaters' who have no intention of attending unless we get back to the premier league it's a simple as that. WHY I don't know. I personally can't stand the premier league and what it's become, modern football is shite. Unfortunately a lot of the floaters grew up being spoon fed premier league football and multi million pound signings. The bottom line is we obviously need to get back there for financial reasons but I much prefer the championship and even league 1 as a competition. £10 tickets will cause occasional peaks in attendance but hardly any will come back, till the next time maybe. SO, in summary, unless we get back to the 'promised land' the club can try all the initiatives under the sun but they're pissing in the wind.
  6. Leeds have signed Jean-Kevin Augustin on loan from Leipzig.........
  7. Billy Sharp who himself said he's going nowhere and wants to fight for his place at United yeah?
  8. It's the last 10 games that will count in this league. Effectively treading water till then will keep you in the mix at present. A few teams are gonna go on a run, it's not likely to be us but we can always live in hope.
  9. The Holtby goals last week were so Dack-esque. Not one bit spectacular just right place, right time like so many of Dacks goals. Wouldn't be surprised if we've had him watching some clips featuring Dack and just said "do this". They score a fair few, I think only WBA have scored more this season so we could be in for a goal fest if we play like we did last weekend again....
  10. He's far from perfect Walton but ALL keepers make mistakes. Of course he needs replacing, we HAVE to unless he gets offered a permanent deal, I just don't think that with our shoestring budget it's a priority. A flawless keeper is a 50m pound one.
  11. Cheapest split ticket is Preston to Crewe then theres a 20 min wait till the rattler to Euston. 47 quid
  12. I wouldn't even bother with a keeper at this point. We will struggle to get better than Walton with our budget I'm afraid (I don't think he's anywhere near as bad as some make out anyway) A proper left back and perhaps a winger would suit me.
  13. Does anyone ever bother to read them or am I a bit sad? Thought it would be worth starting a thread to share them, not to go on and be clowns winding them up but just to read their opinions both on us and their own teams. So I was browsing a Wednesday one earlier, understandably in meltdown. Some stark comparisons to here though some of the comments particularly regarding Monk. https://www.owlstalk.co.uk/forums/forum/3-sheffield-wednesday-matchday/ Worth a read if you get a few mins.
  14. Yep Sutton was making his name as a young centre half haha
  15. I can still picture every single goal in that Norwich game, Shearer's lob was one of the best goals Ewood has ever seen, absolute class
  16. Nyambe is, understandably so, a real confidence player. If he has it like he most certainly did yesterday he's just brilliant. I think it was the second goal were he absolutely mugged their defender off and sent him for a hotdog, sheer class. Let's hope he stays fit for a considerable spell now. Such a shame Cunningham got crocked because if he hadn't it would have been the best back 4 for some time.
  17. I don't get why people are implying shit housing tbh, I've not seen other angles but looks like he got belted full whack. I don't think it was a red card as it was accidental but it would still hurt!
  18. I thought it was a fake account at first I'm ashamed to say but has me in stitches.
  19. Has anyone set the gofundme page up yet to get this guy over?
  20. It was 45 quid return on Friday from preston That's going Preston via crewe then to Euston
  21. I think your 1500 estimate will be way off after today.....
  22. The 2001 result was when we tubbed West Ham 7-1 at home.
  23. Let's all enjoy this chaps, no point saying it buys tombola Tony more time etc just embrace it. Biggest win since October 2001
  24. Not sure how you can come to that conclusion to be honest. I think to be fair though he could have done with a loan move to a lower end premiership team rather than us to prove he can really make the step up. Such different leagues really. You can see him often getting frustrated with lack of movement from team mates, can't see him having that issue back at City. He's too good for us to put it bluntly.
  25. At least Sam Hart may get a chance to face Liverpool in the FA cup, unlike us Shrewsbury didn't throw their game away. Suppose Shrewsbury ain't that bad of a move but surely the better teams in league one should be sniffing around our players. 9 times out of 10 we loan them to poor struggling teams, not sure if that's a sign of us having crap young players or if we refuse a lot of deals.
