The Downing leaving hysteria is a bit baffling. It does leave us a little bit thin on the ground, but as it stands we have a spare centre half in mulgrew anyway assuming the lineup at the back isn't changed on Saturday. We're obviously out of both cups so thst eases the strain on the squad slightly. I'd rather have Downing and Wharton out on loan playing first team football every week than not at all.
