v Coventry City (a) - 2/4/22
Ossydave replied to Herbie6590's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I've see a few people say this. You do realise they'll lose half their team at the end of the season, all the decent players? Their only hope is keeping hold of Weghorst who'll most likely do a Mitrovic and score a load if he stays. Utterly deflated after another late goal, although I half expected it 😔 We looked like the Rovers from the first half of the season second half and Dacky and Diaz starting (hopefully) could still make a difference, all hope isn't lost just yet. A lethargic/injured Nyambe cost us the game. -

I haven't seen us win away all season, I'm going today, surely the laws of averages mean a win at some point - I've never been a full season without at least 1 away win I don't think 😕 I accept no responsibility if we balls things up again though.... -
World Cup Play Offs

Usual easy group then, it's coming home songs aplenty then flop when it gets to the later stages 🤔 -

Rothwell has also been shite since January incidentally. Not sure I'd drop him but he needs a rocket up his backside. -

Coventry are in pretty dire form as well as us apart from that freak win vs Sheff Utd when they battered them...Good luck to anyone attempting a prediction for this! Looking forward to it personally. A new ground to tick off the list, many beers and some proper (hopefully) football. The line up obviously depends on a number of injury concerns but it must surely be time for Dack to start? As a side note - did anyone go to Coventry away early 90's, think it was the last away game of the season a night game? Still one of my favourite away days although we got beat. Many rovers were in fancy dress, remember batman and robin going on the pitch when we scored an equaliser at one point 😆 -
He's probably early himself a place on the bench on Saturday if we're being honest. He looked like he stretched a bit when scoring, he's a young boy and he needs to learn to let his body recover (said in my best Mowbray voice).

How's it clear he wasn't fit? Its almost 2 weeks since OUR last game, things change over that period of time. I didn't watch their game but it doesn't sound like he was off the pace from the reports I've seen. If he'd broken down after 10 minutes then yes, he was clearly unfit, but he didn't.

Bit sad some of the bitterness towards Chile, who have without a doubt contributed towards the success Brereton has had this season. If we want to see him back in OUR first team he obviously needs some minutes under his belt, there's no u23 games till next Monday. Obviously it would be much more ideal if he'd done that in Bromley Cross rather than Chile but it is what it is, rest up on a flight home. Doubt he'll start at weekend but should make the bench at least. Such a shame Ben won't make an appearance in the world cup finals this time round to complete the fairytale but at least age is on his side.

The State of Ewood Park!

Oh and I did notice the club tweeting about current vacancies, one being a maintenance operative. There's a few things listed in the job description that COULD in theory help make the place look a bit better.... -

I'd be making the lower Darwen End standing. No season ticket holders to upset for starters. If the uptake isn't that great split it down the middle for away fans who pretty much want to stand regardless. The banter with away fans used to be decent although there's obviously more effort required from a stewarding/policing perspective which they won't like. -
So Van Hecke, Khadra and Lenihan all crocked in this international break, is it any wonder I frigging hate them. Not excuse making but surely we've had the worst luck with injuries in the bloody league this season, not to mention having to get to this stage without probably our best player till his recent sub appearances. On that note, surely he's OK to start on Saturday after he had another 90 minutes for the u23s?

World Cup Play Offs
Ossydave replied to Nuttall is lost's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Maybe so but a world cup, for me, is a traditional summer event either down the pub with pals or followed by a barbecue. I personally can't get excited for this one at all. Maybe it's just me. -
So they got thumped 4-0 off Brazil, but Peru also lost. So basically a 3 way fight between Peru/Chile/Colombia for the play off spot is that right? When would the play off games take place IF they got a place I wonder?

World Cup Play Offs

Those 2 missed penalties by Jorginho ultimately cost Italy. We know all about the impact of missed penalties lately ourselves 😒 I wouldn't even be arsed about missing that joke of a world cup to be honest. -
St Georges Day, Preston v Rovers then the Fury fight at night - police obviously won't fancy that. Monday night with a much depleted following it is then - shite.

I think a 6 is fair enough, if he leaves in the summer as you say. It's edging towards a 5 at present mind...

Jesus he's well known for falling out with owners over transfer funds, sure he'd get on well with Venkys 🤣 I mean I'd take him right now though purely cos I'm that brassed off anyone would do. -

I'd be starting tomorrow exactly how we started the second half on Tuesday, but I realise it's highly unlikely. Much rather go for the jugular straight from the off rather than end up chasing a game again. Nice 2 week break for Dacky to rest up after this one so he definitely needs 45 mins+ under his belt, anything less isn't going to aid his recovery at this point. Do the above and I'd fancy a 2 nil away win, but it's incredibly difficult to guess what Mowbray will do from the start. He sure as hell wouldn't risk the Johnson false 9 again, would he!?! 🤯 -

300 or so left this afternoon from a 1600 allocation apparently. I toyed with going but the missus is working all weekend so I'll probably have to miss out. -

Do they? They scored a few in Ince's first couple of games but in the last 4 games since they've been beaten 4-1, 1-0 and 4-0 then drew 1-1 midweek. We can't wave our willys about too much after Tuesday as we've been struggling for goals too, Reading aren't free scoring of late though. -
We'd be 9th this morning having also played a game more if we hadn't managed to turn the game round on Tuesday, that would have been such a hammer blow. As it stands there's still virtually no margin for error now and literally every game is gonna be a nail biter, sure as hell beats the season already being over at this stage though like in previous years. I've seen a few people mentioning our easy run in, wtf? It doesn't look at all easy to me. Whilst I think on paper we have a better squad than most the opponents, it's not as simple as that as we well know.

Yep that's such a strange interview and he seems like his mind is elsewhere and he's worried about something, not nice to see whatever your opinion of Mowbray. It's hard to believe that's just the result of a few boos and Tony sort it outs before half time.
