In fairness if you look at the remaining fixtures, flat track bullying would see us in the play offs at least.... -

Gally showing again that for some reason he's a much better player when he comes on as a sub, fantastic tonight. Dack looks off the pace a bit and understandably so, but I think we now persevere and start him at weekend because when he's dinking balls in like that for the 2nd goal he's worth having on the pitch! Van Hecke superb as always tonight he really is our player of the season for me. The first half perhaps the worst half I've seen under Mowbray it was like a sick joke. Only really downside second half was Khadra playing like he was wearing some knock off Tommy Balls slippers, he had a stinker of a game. Food for thought Giles whipping in crosses for Gally in the middle? -

I actually think Gallagher would like to be benched now. In fact I'm sure most of his goals this season have come as a sub too. Watch 60-70 mins on the bench with Uncle Tony and learn to read the game with him as he's such an expert. The finger is pointed mainly at Gallagher because without Diaz he should really be our biggest goal threat, he's really not though, although as you say its not helped one bit by the tactics. He's bound to be feeling the pressure. I'd like to have seen Vale or Hedges given a start. Vale played (and scored shock horror) last night so it won't be him, Hedges isn't getting a sniff either. It's a ridiculous thing to say but a Gallagher injury now would possibly be a good thing as it would force his stubborn hand. -

This is teed up absolutely perfectly for us to do a 'rovers'. Derby without an away win in 2022, we'll sure as hell do our best to end that 😵 Alas, football is weird sometimes and at some point we're gonna win a do and score a few too. 3 nil home win, then we'll go on to score 0 more goals all season. -

The attempted promotional activity is gonna actually do more harm than good anyway. Any stay aways who've been tempted back recently will be wondering why they bothered. You'd get more entertainment at Accy Stanley, I actually know a few people going down there these days instead, which I absolutely don't agree with and would never do personally, but each to their own. -

I'd let Van Hecke take one, he'd absolutely smash it then carry on running and burst the net -

I've been in a foul mood since about 5pm last night and it's showing no signs of subsiding 🤬 We're just sleep walking into ANOTHER mid table finish folks. If any of you think we'll still make the play offs I admire your optimism I really do, but what's it going to take to alter your opinion? YES I would take being in the top 6 at this stage of the season if someone offered it at the start, as the Mowbrayites keep going on about, but it's only a matter of time now before we slip out. Its just a bloody good job we did go on that fantastic run or we'd be hurtling towards league 1 on current form. Fine margins again, Lenihan should have scored (again), Dack should have scored 1 or 2 BUT other teams miss a few sitters most games, they just manage to convert at least 1 other chance as well. Of course we've experienced these horror runs before under Mowbray BUT we at least usually manage to score a few! It's beyond depressing now. On the back of that, what did I agree to do last night? Of course I agreed to go to Coventry away in a few weeks, Coventry who battered Sheff Utd yesterday that is 🙄 -

Sorry yes I meant home games. When the chips are down its easy to forget we have the 3rd best home record in the league. Boro have 1 more point and Fulham 3, albeit after playing a game more, so we could in theory have joint best record with a win tomorrow. -
Travis signed a new contract

Great news, somewhat surprising to be honest but we'd be screwed without him in the midfield. -

I really don't want to alarm anyone. BUT Gavin Ward is the ref for tomorrow too 😭 Positivity is really starting to slip for me now, and as much as I hate to label a game a must win, this is a must win. Giving it a good go and being unlucky simply won't cut it. Bristol City have conceded AT LEAST 1 goal in their last 17 away matches. In the interest of putting an added positive spin on things - we've actually only failed to score 4 times in 18, its not THAT bad a ratio. Hedges deserves a start for me. Not interested in the Mowbray guff about him needing to learn how we play, give him some game time. Although he has yet to set the world alight, 10 mins here and there just hampers him further. Much like when he used to p*ss about putting Brereton in and out of the team. Give the lad 60-70 mins, if he's shite haul him off for Dack or something. IF the same team is named tomorrow the fans, and probably even the players will stop believing from 2pm onwards. Desperately hoping Dack just being on the bench gives the forward players a kick up the backside. 2-0 home win, yes that's 2 goals scored by mis-firing Rovers. -

Couldn't agree more. He must be fit, he was playing regular football. After pursuing him for so long SURELY he's not decided he's actually signed a dud? -

Maybe, just maybe it's because we have one of the best home records in the league? Free scoring we are not, but we're capable of winning the next 3 home games even if it's 1-0 in each. -

I think they're just trying different approaches to see what works best, its certainly better than just doing nothing. Probably trying to line up potential season ticket holders as well rather than just swell the attendance for 1 match only. This has been an enjoyable season on the pitch and off it, of course the ultimate bums on seat strategy would be nailing promotion. I do think we're going to be really up against it with the cost of living increases and the pending energy price hike. Of course that affects all clubs not just us. -
v Fulham (a) - 5/3/22
Ossydave replied to Proudtobeblue&white's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
We should want this more than them, they're coasting to promotion whereas we're up against it and every games a cup final. They've not been as free scoring the past few games so there's hope for our usually solid defence. Then just a case of trying to nick one again, there's always hope. I really do wish we'd start making more set pieces count as we did yesterday, we had shitloads of corners again as well, when you're not exactly hammering goals in for fun you need to work on these constantly. I'd take a draw and I'm calling a 0-0 on this. Dacky simply must be on the bench if he makes it through tomorrow's game unscathed. -
They might have replaced him, but 34 goals at this point is one hell of a gap to fill and I'd say highly unlikely they'd have ended up with someone hitting those figures.
-
On this point, has any team in the league had injury woes as bad as us? Bearing in mind we've not had our best player (imo) available all season for starters. Would Fulham be top without Mitrovic?
-
I thought Johnson was solid too especially as he's had limited game time. He's gonna be needed too I imagine, I think Trav is 1 booking away from a ban.
-
What a difference 3 days (and a Tyrhys Dolan) makes. It was screaming out for him on Wednesday and Mowbray sat on his hands for far too long, he simply must start next game. You'd take a draw at Fulham then onto 3 winnable home games in a row, potentially a season saving performance and result today. Add into the mix that if Dacky manages 90 mins on Monday he should make the bench for Fulham. Looks like Nyambe will be out for 6 to 8 weeks which is a huge blow as we're left praying Zeefuik stays injury free now or we're in trouble.
-
I've not been the pub but agree with all of this. There's lots of excuse making at present, not so much on here, but within our fanbase in general about us over achieving to be in this position. Now look at the QPR team that played on Wednesday. How many of those players would people take? Chair is the obvious one but after that I'm struggling. You'd probably take Gray or Austin given our circumstances but neither is flying this season. So bollocks to the excuses, we have enough quality to be up there challenging and we damn well work our backsides off to sort this goal drought right out. We still have an excellent home record apart from the obvious Fulham horror show, Forest we didn't deserve to lost 2-0. As a stat nerd, our h2h vs QPR at home is excellent. Played 15, won 11, drawn 3 and lost just 1. Gonna stick my neck on the line and say they won't add to that 1 today. 2 nil home win. Khadra to make amends and if either Hedges or Dolan start I'll tip either of them 2 to score the other. Mowbray death spirals come and go, they always come to an end though and let's just hope today's the day because ultimately it may just become too late to salvage the season if not....
-
I'd be in favour of that, we need something to give us a bit of a buzz, it's rapidly been going flat lately. U23's don't play till Monday either so it would be plausible. After that they don't play again till 14th March, if we wanted him to play in that too it would wipe out another 4 first team games, we need him back sooner...
-
I'd love to know what Mowbray actually says to Gallagher pre match. I'm also willing to bet he thought he played well on Wednesday because he ran about a lot, closed a lot of players down and drew a few fouls. It's almost as though scoring isn't even on his list of priorities. When he calls players out who need to be contributing goals he never really focuses on the player who should be #1 in the list. I can't even blame Gallagher 100% either because I think he's just following orders. A better manager could get better results out of him, I mean even Coyle managed a half decent return! That said, he could also grow some balls and question the managers decisions.
-
If Hedges doesn't at least play a part in this game someone seriously needs to explain why he was signed. Dolan also must start for me.

The Ryan Nyambe Appreciation Thread
Ossydave replied to blueboy3333's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
He needed subbing off sooner, awful last night. BUT that's massively down to Mowbray and the team trying to use him as an offensive outlet. There's no question he can defend. -
The back 3, which has been great this season is being wasted though by the players in front of them, that same defence is also torn apart at the end of the season. Its a solid foundation to build upon, but if we don't do that this season we're literally back to square 1. I really do shudder to think how we'll line up next season, in the championship.

v Sheffield Utd (a) - 23/2/22 - Match Preview
Ossydave replied to Herbie6590's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I don't think there's much more to add that hasn't been said, you just KNEW after that penalty miss we'd go on to lose. Perhaps the most annoying part is we're losing against such bang average teams, along with the fact that the back 3 i the best we've had in ages and we're not capitalising on that, futhermore next season it will also be ripped apart as well so we're back to square 1. Nyambe was dreadful last night, although why we're looking to him to be our creative outlet is beyond me, I think he's even wondering why himself. When we go on these nightmare runs we usually manage to pluck a few results from somewhere but I'm struggling to see it at the moment. The full season basically hinges upon the impact of Dack now but it sounds like he's still some way off. I've never known a team with so few players who can actually shoot, to have a 'false 9' that fits that bracket is absolutely mind boggling, can someone please explain why we pursued Hedges for ages, brought him in early, yet still don't play him? The tombola needs a full on 2 handed spin at weekend, its shit or bust time. On another note, the pockets of our fans signing "your support is f*cking sh*t" just need to stop, the cringe is real.
