January Transfer window 2022
Ossydave replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Agreed, the club keeps their transfer cards close to the chest these days, which often leads to frustration amongst fans as it may appear we're not doing much or interested in anyone. Recent transfer/loan business has been good and the players for the most part relative unknowns. Pre Venkys I bet most on here had a source within the club but those days are long gone and it's better for the good of the club.... -

Exactly, I don't get the outcry on him being sacked. -

Got to be Timo Werner or Havertz on loan 😁 -

There was one point in particular when Johnson won like 4 or 5 headers in the space of 30 seconds. Literally none of our other midfielders have that in their locker. There's games where Johnson looks out of place, the fast flowing counter attacks obviously pass him by. Last night however was the perfect kind of game for him and I actually think it worked in our favour a little bit Joe's unfortunate injury. Its a balancing act knowing when to utilise him but he 100% can make a valuable contribution from now till the end of the season. -

The aggressiveness that's seemingly been ramped up this season is undoubtedly one of the reasons we sit 2nd in the league. Exactly how I want my team to play as well. Being a nice set of lads was one of our biggest issues in past seasons. -

Made up with that performance, can't fault a single player tonight. Edun had a few shaky moments but looked more assured when Buckley moved over there. I think it just goes to show how crucial Travis is too. Zeefuik already looks like he's gonna bring some exciting runs to the party, looking forward to him getting more involved. Dacky with 45 mins under his belt too, its been a good night 😁 -

We're favourites with all bookies I've seen, just -
Azmoun would be a good singing, I'd be surprised if he doesn't get better offers though....

I fear the worst for this one unfortunately. Wilder was sat there on Wednesday night and will have a clear and defined gameplan already mapped out. The only potential spanner in the works for him is the absence of Diaz meaning its set up for the tombola to get dusted off adding a bit of uncertainty. I don't want to be too critical of Mowbray at a time we're 3rd in the league, but I wouldn't fancy him in a toe to toe with Wilder over tactics. Hope I'm way off though and the lads come out heads held high and turn things round ala Sheff utd game following the Fulham defeat. We do have an uncanny habit of plucking results out when we're least expected to at times. -

JRC ain't gonna be playing (as a RB/WB anyway), he pretty much had to play as Nyambe got suspended. We brought Zeefuik in till the end of the season, minimum, it would be pretty pointless doing that if he wasn't going to be involved, just a question of who is first choice in him and Nyambe. JRC just becomes an easy scapegoat because of people's love for Nyambe. He wasn't fit at all the other night but the change was forced upon us by another nobhead ref giving a ridiculous red card out. He needs to get himself fit for once and play some football for the U23s because the constant lack of match fitness is becoming beyond frustrating with him. -

Davenport for me too, not sure why there's a reluctance to include him. I think in fairness Edun would have been brought into midfield normally but he's obviously needed as cover for Pickering at present. -

I thought the same. I think he's slowly improving but not at Pickering levels yet, he too had a fairly slow start though in fairness. I think people are being a bit harsh on JRC, he would have been given a few more games for the u23s but for Nyambe being suspended. The lad is bound to be rusty. We DO need to start creating more via the wings though one way or another.... -

Mowbray saying Travis 'has a chance' for Boro, he's ill? Surely he'll be OK by Monday night. If he ain't then he simply must start Davenport or Johnson. -

I think looking back we're really starting to miss Pickering.... No attacking threat out wide without him, its giving opposition defenders less to worry about. In fairness I thought Edun was slightly better tonight but he's not bringing the energy Pickering did. Hopefully Zeefuik can offer us that soon but it'll be at the expense of Nyambe which won't sit well with everyone. Imagine Pickering is still a good few weeks off. I don't think we hit the panic button just yet, EVERY team is gonna have a rocky patch, Fulham went a good 4 games I think without a win. Wilder was in the crowd and must have been rubbing his hands watching how shite we played, massive improvements needed. I don't usually like Monday games but it may work in our favour a few extra days to bed the new lads in and focus on getting back on track. -

Very worrying how poor we've been the last few games and alarm bells are definitely ringing. Granted the ref has fucked us right over tonight but we can't just blame that. Feared the worst when I saw Travis wasn't playing, not sure why either Johnson or Davenport weren't picked. Huge test for Tony and the team now or a very bleak February awaits... -

I don't get it either. You could pay on the gate at league 1 Wigan but the Championship clubs don't seem to allow it these days. It comes in handy if you're busy and don't have time to sort tickets in advance. -

He made a sweeping statement that he'd done nothing in England..... He had a good return at leagues 2 and 1 level though. 11 goals in 18 games at MK Dons (at league 1 level) in his most recent season in England. Those are good numbers. -

Hopefully in the squad tomorrow, would be a fantastic chance to throw him on as a sub after 60 minutes and tell him to show us what he's all about, exciting times -

If Fulham were to lose tonight we could go top, now THAT would be all the motivation we need and another milestone ticked off in this crazy season. However, they play Birmingham who are beyond dreadful so it's probably another 5 goal+ win for them 😏 -
So Burnley U23s played tonight? Funny how they managed to field a team 😒

Wasn't great but yet again we get the job done. To be honest, and it's not really making excuses but the awful return to an empty stadium didn't help the game at all. Like so many of them during those days it was a bit flat. Hope to hell we never go back to that in England I'd forgotten how rotten it was. I expect a much livelier affair on Wednesday and I hope to hell we punish them for the ridiculous postponement, hopefully justice will prevail.
