  1. I went from being very arsed, to not arsed to being quite arsed again after our recent run of form. Until these 3 wins on the bounce I was of the opinion O'brien would be a great addition but we'd ultimately still fall short of the playoffs. Given the position we've worked ourselves into he really could be the extra 10% which sees us over the line.
  2. Essential we tie him down asap. Preferably before the summer. He's earnt it. Let's not dilly dally. I doubt he's on many other clubs radars yet.
  3. He was on a hat-trick as well. If he's not going to put his foot through the ball and be selfish when he has the chance to have his first ever senior hat-trick when is he ever going to do it.
  4. For Ayala you can translate 8 weeks into 12 weeks.
  5. In terms of Wharton, we can all see he's a great footballer with massive potential. But it doesn't matter who it is, give it your all and pull your weight in training. That's the baseline you need hit to even be considered for the starting line up. It's not personal. Regarding Wharton it is all based on assumptions that this was the case, but I have no doubt that if he really gets the bit between his teeth in training he'll be back in the fold for the first team in no time, as the talent is clearly there. As an example Eric Ten Haag dropped Rashford a month back because he was late for training. He's the star and go too man. You have to have consistent rules that apply to every player. It wasn't personal, Rashford accepted it and came off the bench and scored the winner. Every player in that squad would know exactly what levels were expected. There are no favorites, everyone is the same and it does wonders for creating a proper team spirit, rather than the faux team spirit that Mowbray created where the team were a bunch of nice lads that he liked to take care of.
  6. It could be big, could be small. I imagine it's something along the lines that Jdt felt A.Wharton wasn't pulling his weight so he was left out. There's multiple examples of this under Jdt's short reign and the answer is the player needs to work hard. Once they do and they earn the shirt they'll be back in the fold. It's up to Adam. Work hard and he'll play. I don't believe Jdt is one to hold grudges. If Wharton knuckles down he'll be a better player for it.
  7. There are so many games that made me sick last year that I can't bear to go through them
  8. However we set up it will be huge having them both available. We all know we can be pretty impotent going forward at times. Some creativity and ability from both full backs will be a welcome step forwards and hopefully bring a bit more balance to the side. I thought it was striking on Sorba's debut that all of our attacking went down his flank. We were constantly feeding it into him. A big part of that was both JRC and Carter as the right centre back being more comfortable on the ball. My hope is that they both stay fit and it helps us stretch the pitch. They're both competent enough on the ball to retain it when stepping into midfield, creating overloads.
  9. I think the biggest thing for Qpr was lifting the negativity which had seeped into the club and get the players smiling/playing with confidence again. Ainsworth will certainly do that. They've had a tough season. After a mega start under Michael Beale, he flirted with Wolves for a while which seemed to derail them. He rejected Wolves released a statement about loyalty to the club who had given him his chance, only to jump ship a month later. Critchley has had a shocker and the whole club looked lost. They've got some quality players, but like us lacked a striker and brought in Chris Martin, whom I'd have liked us to sign once the window slammed shut. Both Ainsworth and the fans will be well up for it. I think we need to keep it tight and silence the crowd, then grow into the game.
  10. He's got good technique and he's excellent in tight spaces. He's probably our best player in terms of keeping the ball and he's got decent footballing intelligence. I'm not sure I see him as a wide player like some people do. I actually think one of his bigger weaknesses is beating a man one on one as he does lack pace. All they need to do is back off him and it's tough for him to beat them. My hope is that he develops into an Illias Chair type player. He can twist and turn, pull the strings centrally, and can shoot. His ability to hold the ball draws players into him. Its all about releasing it at the right time or creating space to shoot. As it stands, his development has been brilliant so far. He's still got a way to go, but on his current trajectory I see no reason why he won't develop into a really key player for us. Being a nice lad doesn't win games, however its worth mentioning, that he's a credit to himself and the club. Specifically the graft he puts and how well he speaks about mental health and his friend who passed away. I love that he's refused to let the memory of his friend die after his passing. Back to football. I hope he keeps grafting and keeps developing. Good player, good bloke.
  11. I actually think Qpr are a well run club these days. They were a shit show when Fernandes first came in. But these days they have some decent young players who've come through their first team and they seemed to have a pretty consistent plan. They were screwed over by Beale jumping ship to Rangers after only a few months in the job which left them in a bit of a panic. Critchley on paper seemed like an OK choice but he was terrible. Ainsworth is a surprising appointment in that his style is the opposite of what qpr have played for years. We'll see how they get on under him.
  12. Not the only difference maker that Brighton had but he absolutely destroyed us.
  13. This thread shows the influence @chaddyrovers has on brfcs. One word has triggered the strangest of tangents. (Not a dig at you Chadster. I've found it all quite amusing)
  14. I've emailed Steve Waggott with the suggestion. I'm not hopeful but if you don't ask, you don't get.
  15. It's a completely unnatural way of wording it. I can't believe that many people would structure the sentence in that way, especially somebody who's job it is to be clear with these things. Even if we go down the narrative that Sylvester isn't particularly competent I still can't imagine him doing this. Again we are basing our assumptions purely on Nicko, which has to be taken with a pinch of salt, but if what he is saying is accurate I simply cannot see Rovers not winning. The only thing I can see the EFL case resting upon is that they can query what they like and in their opinion they left adequate time for us to make the ammendment. Which is quite laughable. As has been mentioned many times, the fact nobody has ever won an appeal previously says to me that the EFL need to be checked and accountable. Their systems can't be infallible. If we win I'm not sure what I'll be happier about, us having O'brien or seeing the EFL knocked off their perch.
  16. He's certainly been our biggest goal threat.
  17. Anybody more educated than on these things than me know what the cost would be to stream our home youth games live on YouTube. The club regularly release clips so I assume the camera set up is already there. Surely it can't cost much? I'm really enjoying watching. I only usually read about players in our youth set up and see the odd highlight here and there. It'd be a great little additional offering by the club.
  18. Usually I get frustrated at threads drifting a million miles off topic. This has got to be the worst case of it ever happening on this board, but its actually really made me laugh. Only on brfc. Are we going to have super stakeholders now? And happy clapper or doom merchant stakeholders?
  19. 28th is ridiculous. But at least we have a date and an end in sight.
  20. The club have released a statement to update their stakeholders on the appeal. https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2023/february/20/club-update---transfer-deadline-day/
  21. Bundesliga shaping up into one hell of a battle.
  22. If true, I'd assume that there has been some kind of conversation with Diaz to give the club any sniff that it's worth pursuing. That's not to say I think it'll be signed. I don't. My guess is that he's stressed right now. He's just had a baby, he's got Villareal waiting on an answer and he can't leave them hanging indefinitely. He'll have a support network here for him and his girlfriend and all of a sudden the idea of sunny Spain seems very intimidating without friends and family around to help with a newborn. That's not to mention the language barrier. It may well be the option of he makes the move by himself or not at all. Lots of assumptions in this post but it's not an unlikely scenario. From a club perspective I'd be looking to offer him a 2 year deal with a low release clause. £8m to recoup our outlay. If the move abroad is causing stress it allows him to focus on his family for now, it gives a bit of security in the event of an injury, whilst giving the club a small amount of protection.
  23. If the super league doesn't happen it's because all the English clubs are aware that the Premier League brings in far more money than any league in the world and they're aware that future TV deals will dwarf the insane amounts of money already washing around in the league. The longer they maintain the status quo the bigger the gap will become between all other clubs worldwide. Real, Barca and the rest are struggling to compete financially as it is. Fast forward another 5 - 10 years and the gap will be huge. The main pulling power clubs outside the EPL will have is history and you'll have midtable Premier League clubs able to offer better financial packages than historical super clubs. Through all this huge opposition to the Super League it's clear to me something needs to change. The English pyramid has been broken for a long time and we're now beginning to witness it on a European and Worldwide stage. It really should be down to FIFA to resolve, but with them being just as money hungry as the clubs and leagues, that ship sailed long ago. It's nigh on impossible to level the playing fields once there is such a disparity. It needed pre-emptive action. As it stands their main concern seems to be maximising their own income through stupid ideas such as a world cup every 2 years. There doesn't seem to be the will there and if it was, I'm not sure legally there would even be a way. Tbh the only thing I can see as a workable solution is actually having a super league. The part which wouldn't work would be they should not be part of their own domestic leagues and there would have to be some form of promotion/relegation. A closed shop would be boring. Essentially the system is already broken and fans being outraged really is missing the gulf which is widening year on year.
  24. It's an interesting position to be in. Pears will have a year left on his contract come the end of the season. He's showing that there's not much to separate him and Kaminski. Will he be keen to sign a new contract if he's not first choice. If not he is worth a bit of money now. Could he actually become our number 1 and we sell Kaminski? It's great to have two very good goalkeepers but it's a luxury considering how much investment the rest of the squad needs.
  25. But that's not what I'm talking about. You repeatedly said his legs have gone and that he's not the player he once was. Based on very little as he wasn't in the team. Personally I think JDT could have given him more opportunities prior to the world cup but I'm pleased that he's left the door open for Dack to work his way back in. I'm sure that people within the club weren't saying, his legs have gone and that he can't play the way JDT wants to play. But that's exactly what you were saying.
