  1. Not even a post season zoom for Mowbray. The taps are truly turned off. Will he be sacked? Not a chance. He's just being ghosted. Pasha is not to be trusted either. His priority is doing as his bosses say which will be to recoup money. We are about to under sell our assets like how Cairney went under Bowyer. History is repeating itself. Again! I moved from the area when I was young so I'm not fit to comment on Blackburn as a town. But to me Rovers have always represented hard work, graft, punching above our weight so consistently that we earnt our right to belong. The underdog with just enough flair and skill to allow you to dream. Nothing handed on a silver platter. But more than anything pride, respect and doing things the right way. We weren't the best but we could hold our heads high. These owners don't represent any of us. They are the opposite. They had everything handed to them and they treat what has value to others with disregard, especially when the going gets tough. I'm not even talking about money. I just want to see integrity at the top. And this is how the world ends. Not with a bang, but with a whimper. Years of neglect and a slow, slow death.
  2. I think we are desperate. Both Bell and Pickering for the price of Douglas wages. I do think with some of these contract renewals we haven't got a pot to piss in. So it's an area we can save a few quid. Which makes some sense. But we're desperate for Pickering to be good if Bell is the back up. On a separate note... It really grinds my gears that Mowbray is saying that he's not going to risk exposing out of contract players to injury as he did last season due to looking out for player welfare. In isolation I can understand that. But the players who he did that with last year were all given 3 month contract extensions. That grated at the time with them not being involved but now we know there was a 'gentlemen's agreement' not to involve them. That and pointless signings such as Downing, an area we were well over stocked in. Ainsley Pears when we had already brought in a capable number 1 and 2. It's no wonder we've got no money and can't afford to renew the contracts of our actual assets. It reminds me of teams in large businesses who make an effort at the end of the financial year to spend the remainder of their budget on anything since they know it will vanish otherwise. Mowbray dishes out any excess to his boys. As he's an honourable chap.
  3. Good summary. Agree with the lot in the main. Though I'd have given Ayala 1 (worst signing in years) and Douglas 4. He's been poor but he's contributed. Elliott I'd give a 7. I think 9 is very generous. If he was ours then maybe I'd give him a higher mark. He's got a good number of assists and certainly been an asset. I think he leaves us very exposed though with a lack of work rate and physical presence and we've essentially spent a year developing Liverpools player.
  4. I know the topic has gone off on quite the tangent but speaking of headers this had to be put in here. It's one of the best goals I've ever seen. I also don't understand how his knee didn't just explode upon landing.
  5. What version you on? 2016?
  6. See about as much of Ayala in his thread as we do of him on the pitch
  7. Agreed. He is massively over-hyped. He does have talent but is a luxury. I can't see him as a wide man in a front 3. He's never going to have enough to play in a midfield 3. The only position I can see him in is as a 10 with no responsibilities. He is talented but his complete lack of physicality and most importantly pace will hold him back. I think bottom half Prem will be his ceiling. He reminds me a little bit of an old player. Played for Portsmouth for a little while. Andres D'Alessandro. Good footballer but tiny and slow. Only way to get the best out of him was to build everything around him.
  8. They talk some crazy talk over on Facebook. Literally highlighted facts that there was a conflict of interest in waggotts position and was accused of being a mole set to do nothing but destabilise the club and Mowbrays position. Quite literally insane
  9. Even if the super league was happening. No. Will have the quality to play in the prem but not towards the top. Real reason I came on this thread though. Looked very petulant coming off today. I'm glad Trav gave him a shove. Only positive from the entire game. Shame Travis could take that annoyance into his performance. Felt like because we were at Hillsborough he wanted to make a statement for the Liverpool fans again. That's some leap I know. But he was poor tonight (barring one great pass) I thought he was poor against Derby and has been so for a very long time. He's a passenger in our side as he offers so little off the ball that when he's doing nothing with it, it's like having 10 men. Edit: And before anyone says anything I'm aware we have half a team of passengers right now.
  10. Personally I'd be happy to see them go. But if they are going they are to walk away from all domestic competition. It would offer a very unique opportunity to address the imbalance of power in our own pyramid. Level the playing field. For too long the biggest clubs have destroyed the game in this country. I hope they all rot in their super league and that it doesn't take off. I'm sure foreign markets would make it sustainable. If they left though English football could become fun again. They can take VAR with them too whilst they're at it.
  11. I read an article about Boothroyd getting the England job not so long ago. One of the top, top blazers at the FA goes way, way back about 20 years with Boothroyd. To the point where Boothroyd was best man at his wedding. When he was given the u21 job he was picked off the scrap heap having failed in job after job since Watford. His mate basically sorted him out.
  12. Just totted up our 13 wins this season. In 7 of those wins we've had more possession than the opposition. So just over 50% of them. Sounds like possession works stating that stat in isolation. HOWEVER.... In our 29 games we've either lost or drawn we have had more possession in 24 of those matches. So 31 games in total with MORE POSSESSION has given a 22% win rate. 11 games where we've had LESS POSSESSION has given a 54% win rate. Such a clear correlation that we have better results when we fail to do what Mowbray is trying to achieve by us dominating the ball and possession. Hence his opinion we were poor last night. Which I do have some tendency to agree with, however we carved out far more goalscoring opportunities than usual, often in the transition when winning the ball back. Our winning goal came that way. No real depth to this analysis but it's clear to see we win more when failing to carry out Mowbrays game plan.
  13. I don't think he's ever going to really hit the top. He's talented. And I know he's only 17. But I don't think he will ever have the physicality to play at the top level. He's very slow and obviously quite small. Most small players usually have a bit of zip about them. He's destined for a career as a Luxary player that an entire team must be built around in my opinion. He will contribute at the top end. Like he has for us. But not enough to be that focal point of all attacks.
  14. Happy we won. It sees us safe. Controversial opinion now, but I'd quite happily see us lose every other game this season so as not to strengthen Mowbrays hand. The leech needs to go.
  15. Fully agree. I've been guilty of it only a page or so back. And it is 100% down to not being listened too and frustrations boiling over. That and the fact that each passing interview sees Mowbray in self-preservation mode, which includes many comments that are effectively sticking the middle finger up at fans. People are unfortunately reaching the anger stage
  16. Well this is my stance. Preached for a couple of years about him and a select few players bringing pride back into the club. At the same time been Mowbray out for a very long time based on his ability as a manager. As it stands. And as it always will from now on. He's a tosser. Grade A* sack of dicks. Pitched himself as an honourable guy. Piss off Tony. You're a self serving, selfish, manipulative, leech. Venkys are to blame. They never learnt. The vulnerable attract predators. Of which Mowbray is one. The absolute bull coming out his mouth right now is actually getting to Kean levels. Waggot has become his Jerome. Everything he says is based on personal self preservation. Tony Mowbray has no respect for the fans or for our historic shirt. This is the Tony Mowbray show. And he's really pissed me off. Get out my club you clueless, lying manipulator. You've ruined any good you ever did.
  17. It has looked a bit peculiar this loan. In that he's scored quite a bit with a few of them looking like real worldies. But he's been on the bench a lot. No idea why as all we see are the highlights of him banging them in from 25 yards. I'd be interested to know though
  18. @RevidgeBlueand all those others who were working in the background. I for one am truly thankful. Here's hoping you have played a key part in shaping and protecting the future of Blackburn Rovers Football Club. The pride of Lancashire. And whatever shit we have to endure as Rovers fans. Our club.
  19. I'm very happy Lingard is there. He's in on form and showing that Solskjaer really isn't the man for United given he was so far from their first team. It's his pressing off the ball that impresses me as much as his ability on it. Keep it up and he is worth a place in the squad and could be knocking on the door of the 11. For me it is Rashford, Sterling and Sancho who should be looking over their shoulders. Though Sancho was beginning to show form before picking up a knock. Foden, Grealish, Lingard, Mount. There are probably other form players from this season I've forgotten. They are the ones whom I'd be very happy to see us starting.
  20. Reported as two years with the option of an additional one year. No idea why it's so short. The contracts we as a club offer make no sense at all to me.
  21. Agree with Mowbrays word showing his concerns. I think he does have them because he's not talking directly to the owners and he knows he fallen well short. Do I think he'll be sacked any time soon? Absolutely not.
  22. There is a very solid reason why we aren't getting blown away by teams and that is that our tactics consist of keeping the ball all the time and doing absolutely nothing with it. Once a side is ahead against us the game plays out in exactly the same pattern. The opposition being more than happy for us to rotate possession amongst ourselves with zero penetration. That right there is a pattern Mr Mowbray. We rarely score first. There is always a soft underbelly to us and all our play does is nullify the rest of the game.
  23. Mowbray: “It was together, I included the medical department who had their doubts whether he was ready. “Ultimately, I was a player and you know your body better than anyone else, you know when you feel ready and Adam felt ready and wanted to play. “Together, we took that decision, and said he’d get maximum 70 minutes and he came through it fine. He told me he felt leggy by then, so that wasn’t even a decision. It was a gamble to even play him, but it became a case of how to react to his fatigued body.” I suspected as much. But what is wrong with this man. We've just lost the only other goalscorer in our squad. Why gamble on one game with the fitness of the only other player capable of hitting the back of the net and our only major sellable asset. Shows what he thinks about his other golden strikers he's spent so much on too. He got away with it but mans an idiot.
  24. Kenny Jackett has not succeeded at Portsmouth. The fans have been begging for him to leave for longer than we have Mowbray. Jackett was in charge before the new, very rich owners came in. They had never sacked a manager before. A lot of fans think this caused a lot of hesitation amongst them. Anyway. Pompey have been floating in obscurity for a long time and have far better resources than most at that level. Their current form isn't far off what ours is. It wasn't ruthless in the slightest. It would be a challenge to find a Pompey fan who doesn't think he's been an uninspiring failure. I live in the middle of the city and virtually everyone I know supports the club. I do agree its depressing to see another potential manager snapped up by another club though.
