  1. I wouldn't expect Eustice to come out criticising the hierarchy but he strikes me as fresh faced and just happy to be here. Given that he's supposedly Waggotts man, I'm expecting him to smile whilst all around him crumbles. The reduced pressure from the manager means the slim liklihood of investment and him being backed has reduced when comparing with JDT.
  2. He's between a rock and a hard place. He readily admitted a DoF position was a step up for him. I don't think it made him totally unqualified but needed a club to give him an opportunity. I think he has the skills to succeed in the role. What he can't afford though is his first gig as a DoF to be a blot on his CV. He needs his work here to be a success to continue having a successful career. I'm sure he can't believe the batshit set up he's found himself in, specifically Steve Waggott. His job has been made very difficult. So, does he walk away with a tainted reputation or keep working in a toxic environment to try and get some credit in the bank? No offers on the table elsewhere and Venkys won't sack him because they despise paying compensation. In terms of his performance so far, it's difficult to give too much praise since he's not been successful but at the same time, I'd argue he's been hamstrung at every turn. Is he an asset or a liability? I'm not sure anyone can really say. My main reason for standing by him is I believe his future success is tied to Rovers success, so he's one of the few people in the building who wants to see positive change.
  3. Took a peek on a Palace forum and they were waxing lyrical about Adam. Think especially once Eze and Olise are fully fit he is going to really shine and make the step up easily.
  4. I don't doubt the info Glen has been fed, but it also stands to reason the first thing the group in the room would have done is go into self-preservation mode and get their stories straight. Hence the same timeline of events from four different sources. As for the error only being realised at 11:04... Trust in the Rovers hierarchy is at an all time low, so it's only natural that people begin to speculate. I wouldn't say it's outside the realms of possibility that there had been private conversations amongst one or two on our board that the deal needed to be scuppered, with the promise of either jobs being safe or a handsome payoff. On the surface it seems as though JDT and GB have been at loggerheads with SW & Suhail. How do we know there hasn't been some private conversations in the background? All speculation and conspiracy theories, but they seem almost as likely as incompetence to me. I'm not even going to bother making my mind up around what has gone on. We'll never know. No organisation can function when there is this little trust with their paying customers. Regime change is the only way forwards for the club.
  5. I disagree. He's been lied to and dealt a dud hand here. He's career focused and ambitious. Any job I do, if I'd had what was promised fail to transpire I'd have half an eye on my future as well. He's a principled bloke and even though results have been poor, I think he's still been putting in the effort here. He definitely goes with my best wishes.
  6. Who on earth are we going to bring in now. The club is a laughing stock. Our reputation is in the absolute gutter. We'll only attract incompetent chancers. This is literally the worst time in recent years for the us to be filling what is one of the most critical positions at the club.
  7. Agreed. Though fortunately Field is suspended for the weekend.
  8. Probably because they never really existed. We already found out last year when they cocked up Brierly as well that this regime aren't capable of juggling multiple deals.
  9. We've all been so focused on the farce that we can't actually buy any players, I've just realised there is only 1 hour to go. We couldn't could we... not again.
  10. I do wonder where the orders have come from. My bets are from India through Suhail, but I wouldn't put it past Waggott being the one putting his foot down and saying not a penny is spent until the next round of funding comes through.
  11. I don't believe those numbers involved. Admittedly we're going to have to pay more as an overall package, but those numbers make no sense. If we can't scrape together the money now, Orlando will know there's no way of us paying a fee that high. There is the argument he could perform well and his stock rise enabling them to get a better deal, but equally, what if he flops. His transfer value would be shot.
  12. I'm assuming Sigurðsson still counts as a loan. We loaned him for the season with no fee and he's then signed a pre-contract with us which in theory should only be triggered when his contact with Cska Moscow expires. So it McGuire and this Liverpool lad come in on loan that is a total of 6, when we can only have 5 loan players in a match day squad.
  13. Just look at his haircut. Seems the type who's happier to play his xbox in the evening rather than a night out on the town.
  14. It's all gone very quiet. So much for the LTs live deadline day blog. We were being linked with a number of players last night before the inevitable happened. I'm hoping the silence will be broken by 2 or 3 players being announced all at the same time. But in reality we all know this is an absolute shit show, and we're going to end up with a freebie and a loan, no money spent and Adam holding up a Palace shirt.
  15. It's never our fault. There are always mitigating circumstances. I get that it's a high pressure situation and deadline day can be difficult, but other clubs manage it. It's only us that constantly fuck things up. And the reasons always lead straight back to Pune.
  16. Saw someone on twitter post this. Apparently that's a picture from a hotel in Sheffield.
  17. From the LT "Another central midfielder isn't out of the question but depends on finances" Bloody hell, we'll have generated a guaranteed £28m by the summer with the Raya fee included. That statement alone tells us where the money is going.
  18. Ennis is the epitome of a talented, lazy person. He was signed early in the summer, would have known a move was possible, yet he arrived unfit. Reeled out a few soundbites that he was playing catchup fitness wise, picked up a knock or two and that was it. Seems as though he had the bit between his teeth for all of a couple of weeks before returning to type. I'm pretty sure he'll be quite happy with the move. Probably doubled his wages.
  19. I'd agree that signing a goalkeeper would be a priority if Wahlstedt was still in goal. He was so poor he could have seen us relegated. I disagree with you on Pears. We've been treated to some fabulous goalkeepers over the years which affects our opinion. Pears is nowhere near that level, but he is lower championship quality. He'll make mistakes but the step up from Wahlstedt to him is enormous. Due to the complete lack of a competent backup he's actually one of our most important players, which shows how far the club have fallen.
  20. I don't blame the Walker family for selling to Venkys. On paper, they had money, human rights record was far more favorable than other owners and there was some sense in them growing their brand, especially with the South Asian population in Blackburn. What I do blame them for is engaging with Jerome Anderson to facilitate a sale. As soon as an agent was involved it was likely that person was getting way to deep into critical period in the clubs history. It didn't take a genuis to work out he'd be pulling the owners strings once the takeover happened. It was very naive to think he was simply doing it for a introductory/commission fee. *Disclaimer: Happy to be corrected on the above. My memory is very hazy of those times but I'm sure he didn't just magically pop up after the club had been sold.
  21. I didn't expect anything different in the club statement. For me this situation needs to drag before they wake up and realise there is literally no option but to sell up. This season is all about scraping by and staying up. Realistically we'll be hitting crisis point come the summer, even if the courts do approve funding in March. Its the hope that kills you but the summer is when I see them possibly looking at selling up. Until it happens, public statements will all say the same thing. I simply can't allow myself to believe they'll be here forever.
  22. Can see it now. "Money for Wharton was too good to turn down, however we've struggled to spend it since there is no flex in the wage budget". Summer comes and the money is being used to keep the club afloat.
  23. Not a pun but the family dog is actually called Friedel.
  24. I'm holding out hope they will sell up in the summer. It feels like the only realistic time they'd ever think of selling us. A managed exit, Indian government forcing their hand etc. Surely even they realise this situation isn't sustainable. Post the first few years of their ownership I've never bought into the conspiracy theories. I've accepted its a combination of pride and them being so mega rich the losses make no difference to them. But if they don't choose to sell up within the next 12 months and the funding situation persists, it has me questioning the motives and whether they are hiding something.
