  1. It's a combo of not playing 3 in midfield and also that Trav seems to be under instruction to be a box to box midfielder. I think he's actually far better at that than as a defensive midfielder, but we're being both outnumbered in the middle whilst also having no player with the discipline and intelligence go sit. Trav and Wharton were run ragged today. On a positive note, I thought Leonard was good today and is developing every game. He looks a real poacher and the ball sticks to him when played into feet. Sigurðsson also showed touches of class.
  2. Thought that was pathetic today. Sure we could have won the game but that was suicide football. Wharton and Travis totally overwhelmed and ineffective. They were so overwhelmed the miles they put in today meant as the game wore on they were running on gas. I can't believe JDT didn't switch it up. Hopefully that's a wake up call for him as that was as poor game management as some of the games we gifted early last season. The easiest decision of the lot though. AINSLEY PEARS CANNOT START THE NEXT GAME! He's got no consistency. For every game he puts in an ok performance, he's completely culpable the next. He's cost us that game just as much as the woeful tactics have.
  3. That was appalling. The lung capacity of those Ipswich players. They have pressed us like crazy all over the pitch. Then they've gone long most the time when they've had it so we can't do the same in return. Carter, Hyam and Pears look like they don't know each other. No organisation and so much space in behind. Feels like Mckenna has totally outwitted Jdt here. High energy, direct and decent players picking up the second ball in our final third.
  4. I'd agree the neutrals will be expecting an Ipswich win. In my eyes though you've had some easy fixtures of late. Sheffield Wednesday and then Southampton, whom given the way they're playing under Martin are very beatable. Rovers have been the better team both on the eye and statistically in the majority of our games this season. We're not clinical enough though and have leaked some sloppy goals. I've not watched all your games but I have noticed many of them have been tight affairs. What I'm saying is the form guide certainly doesn't tell the full story. I'd say you are overarching, whereas we are underachieving, so I wouldn't be quite so confident if I were you. If I were a betting man this is the last fixture in the league I'd be picking a winner from. We seem capable of blowing many sides away, but have shown a soft underbelly.
  5. Who will win I don't know, but there will be goals. I'm betting one of us will win it 3-2
  6. It's potentially encouraging and discouraging that our performances this season have been almost exclusively without any new signings. Only Ennis has made any contribution with his assist against Rotherham. We've seen the development of both individuals and in overall play when players are given time to understand JDTs ideas. I'd say there's a good chance some of our new signings will begin to have an impact as the season goes on. If they can do that we could have a promising season. On the other hand, it could be that shopping in the bargain bucket means they're not up to scratch. A couple of posters have assessed our squad in this thread. Rather than being very weak in some areas, I'd say we have a lot of question marks.
  7. I think this is as good a summary/guess around the current situation that anyone can make given the info we have. Cheers @philipl. The optimist in me is hoping this will be cleared up ASAP and we'll have a bit of Ffp flex in the next couple of windows. Though we're desperate for that clarity, mainly so we can keep hold of JDT by clearly showing the 'project' is back as it was. Praying the pessimistic view doesn't happen and this is just the tip of the iceberg. Venkys actions and words clearly suggest they're going nowhere, so damage to them, damages the club.
  8. Few days ago I very nearly posted that I thought Gallagher might actually have a good season, then I gave my head a wobble. Today shows why. I've never seen a striker with such poor decision making. Absolutely shocking.
  9. You could make a cracking YouTube reel of Ryan Hedges worst misses.
  10. This ref is an absolute jokes. Three or four times I've counted Plymouth players swinging elbows when there's no chance of winning the ball. Countless times they've gone through the back of our players. Not seen a reply of the Szmodics penalty claim but in real time I thought it was. Then a couple or minutes later their player stops the ball on the ground with his arm. Just a frustrating half and our performance declined the more the frustration set in. Plymouth have done nothing and very lucky to be ahead.
  11. Best manager since Souness. Posted in the Harrogate chat that some clear the air talks are needed during the international break. Highlight why the sudden changes happened this summer and if we're able to give reassurances that won't happen again, then give them. Then it's money on the table time. New big contract, double your money. If he wants a release clause then that can be negotiated in line with the pay rise. Make the man happy. The only asset as important as him is Adam Wharton. The way he talks, negotiates, brings young players on, has a clear identity to his football, has no favorites and his genuine positive aura has had an enormous impact. And the bloke works hard. You don't see many managers regularly going to u21s games, setting each players homework each week, going on mini scouting missions to watch a player we might be interested in. On top of that he speaks so highly of the club, our history and fans. He's an absolutely brilliant manager and such a huge asset to our club.
  12. Couldn't agree more. He's obviously deeply unhappy with the way this summer has panned out. We've got an international break soon after the window closes. Regardless of any talks of contracts there need to be some talks just to clear the air. Outline what caused the change in budgets and if there are ways of ensuring more consistency moving forwards, give him those reassurances. Then, money on the table. We're delighted with your performance, we want to keep you long term Jon. If he wants some kind of release clause then so be it. At least we'd be making sure we are fairly compensated when he does leave and at the end of the day, we want a happy manager. He's the best thing that's happened to our club in such a long time. My favourite manager since Souness.
  13. Rovers twitter page say Wahlstedt has pulled off a couple of great saves. One of which was flagged offside anyway, but he wasn't to know that.
  14. Thus far this season he's looked outstanding at times. Whenever he has the ball you feel as though he might be about to play a defence splitting pass that nobody else on the pitch has seen. He is losing the ball too much at the moment but that's to be expected, given both his age and the fact he is constantly trying to be brave on the ball. Experience and fitness which comes with regular first team football and its scary how much potential he has. I pray we surround him with a few good players. I do think it's going to be am enjoy him while we can situation, unless by some miracle we are promoted this season.
  15. Christ, how quick is Georgie Gent! Either that or he was playing against one of the slowest players I've ever seen. He looked like prime Gareth Bale in those highlights. Looked like we should have won 10-0 too.
  16. Personally I want him to do well. I don't think he will. He's a confidence player and even when it's up he tended to bumble his way through. What I do raise a smile too though is the swarms of Chilean fans who'd write on his Instagram "free Ben, free Ben" after every game. They might have a different opinion in 6 months time when he's still not getting minutes.
  17. Exactly. Not only is he being thrown in the deep end but he's been thrown in, in an area of the pitch where he isn't surrounded by experienced pros to guide him through. Its a thankless task and he's being set up to fail.
  18. I thought Trav did very well today and was instrumental in our goal. He may be technically limited but when you need to battle and grind out a win there aren't many better in this league.
  19. Felt fairly tight with Watford edging it until the last 5 minutes of the half when they stepped it up a gear. In reality it felt as though they had the ability to do that all half. Dolan off for Moran and Gally on for Leonard. Feel we're going to need to weather the storm early second half. I'd be very happy to leave here with a point. We're limping through to the end of the transfer window (with hopeful reinforcements).
  20. Buckley is so frustrating, simply because he clearly does have some quality about him. He was very good playing further forward under Mowbray but even though he has the skill set to play deeper, he has been poor there. He seems to by trying to play an 'intelligent' game at his own pace. Hopefully him being dropped is a rocket up his arse and not a sign that he's leaving. There's an excellent championship player in him, but absolutely no consistency.
  21. Not particularly hopeful for today. Only way I can see us getting 3 points is by keeping it tight first half with Gallagher and Moran coming on around the hour mark and making an impact. Front 3 look dire. On a separate note I feel quite sorry for Leonard. He's getting all these minutes at the start of the season, but the attacking players around him offer no service. He's a good finisher, but I can see his playing time becoming more limited once the window shuts and we have a better supporting cast.
  22. Judging by their latest statement it appears United are set to reinstate Mason Greenwood into their squad. I'm stunned because its just plain wrong. It's an endorsement of domestic violence. Violence towards women, and rape. Purely from a PR perspective I can't believe United are contemplating this. The evidence in the public domain is clear as day. It's not just that they will have Greenwood playing for them, it's the fact the club have endorsed it. As a fan, how do you continue to support that? I can also see a lot of sponsors cutting ties with the club. I'm not sure United have fully understood the shit storm which is about to come their way. Note for anyone who thinks Greenwood has been found not guilty. That's not true. The victim has withdrawn the complaint so the charges were dropped. Something which is very common in domestic violence cases. One final point. There have been many reasons to say this over the years. But after this. Fuck Man United! Feel free to remove if necessary mods, as I recognise its a sensitive topic.
  23. I'm convinced Onana was trying to give away a penalty just so he could save it and get me more points for my fantasy football team.
  24. One word. Loans. We need 2 attacking loan players through the door who are of good quality. Do that and spend any remaining money wisely on a permanent addition and this could be a promising season.
  25. Agreed with Leicester. Fixure wise I don't think it's been the toughest start to the season for them, but their squad is packed with quality. Leeds look as though they're in crisis. Any decent players are refusing to play. Farke has a job on his hands. Russell Martin may be the undoing of Southampton. If his style works then they will be a force as they're also packed with quality. The team who have really impressed me so far are Norwich. They should have hammered Hull. Amazing it only finished 2-1. It could have been 5-0 on another day. They should have beaten Southampton too. The last minute equalising penalty was very soft and Shane Duffy with a brain fart moment for the first. Both Sara and Jon Rowe look like they could tear any defence in this league apart.
