  1. Wait.....Who's your mommy? MotM in the future gang We might not know her, but we know who her Daddy is! Sorry @tonyoz 😂
  2. Not just because we benefited from it today but I'm happy for refs to punish waving imaginary cards around. Onyedinma was stupid doing it. He wasn't unlucky. Before the start of the season, players are briefed on what referees will be clamping down on. But he just ignores it and does it anyway. His first yellow was an absolute joke though. I can understand it if the player had jumped over the hoardings into the crowd. All he did was go up to them. Yellow cards for over celebrating is one of the dumbest rules ever introduced.
  3. How anyone can watch that and not have Szmodics down as the worst player on the pitch is beyond me.
  4. Szmodics has absolutely destroyed us that half. Missed the penalty and his head just went. Guarantee he wouldn't have tried that stupid pass which gave the goal away if he'd not missed the pen. Trying to do too much to atone. Then his head went even more. Truly one of the worst halves of football I've seen from any player.
  5. Its rare you see someone act so petulant in public. It was disgusting behaviour from Mowbray. Surreal to see players taking subtle digs at him on social media afterwards as well.
  6. Every game is important but this feels even more so. The week we've just had really lifted the dark cloud which had descending onto the club over the last month. We have a tough run of games after the international break. A win here would keep the positive momentum going and give us some breathing space to bed any new signings in. We surely have some cash in the bank too and though it's very early doors in the season, a positive start can help to make us that bit more appealing. Especially when looking at loan signings.
  7. They're also the first ones moaning if a relegation threatened team manage to get a result against them by wasting a ridiculous amount of time. If anything these rules actually benefit clubs with better quality squads.
  8. The rules which I hope really stick are yellow cards for time wasting and players staying off the pitch if they revieve treatment. Personally I'd have liked to have seen this be 1 minute rather than 30 seconds. I'm happy the added time will be more reflective of what has been wasted. Large amounts of added time are less of a stain on the game than clubs killing matches by wasting time. However, the amounts are going to end up being ridiculous. Imagine if Preston had been leading in the first half! There does need to be a balance.
  9. I'm happy for Markanday to have a place in the squad this season. I'm not totally writing him off just yet. It was great that he got a goal at the weekend and he does seem like a decent finisher. But if we're to be pinning our hopes on him being part of our first 11 for the season, he's going to struggle. We desperately need a new starting right winger with a big of quality.
  10. The goings on around Qpr are the one thing in football that I'm semi itk about. Ferdinand brought in Michael Beale and when he ditched them it was very unexpected. Critchley didn't work out at all and by that point the board panicked and took it into their own hands overruling Ferdinand. Essentially they listened to the fans. Club legend and all that. But one that played a style which was not suited to the Qpr players in the slightest. Players are jumping ship as there is zero faith amongst them that Ainsworth has any sort of idea. The best thing they could have done is sacked him at half time yesterday. The big issue is though that with Ferdinand gone, there's nobody above the manager with a clear vision. When Ferdinand left he said he'd made mistakes at times. Was influenced by the fans with some of his decisions. But generally speaking they were usually all pulling in the same direction. I don't think Ferdinand did the best job, but the over riding of him and complete change in philosophy by bringing in Ainsworth has been suicidal. The club should be in panic mode already because as it stands they look like a dead cert for relegation.
  11. It's a case of be careful what you wish for at Qpr. He hadn't been perfect at Qpr but Les Ferdinand had at least been steering them in the right direction. He was strongly opposed to the appointment but meddling board members brought in Ainsworth and Ferdinand then left at the start of the summer after all the deals he had lined up were over ruled. Now look at them. They had a squad with young technical players, some of whom have been sold on the cheap. They have a manager who is absolute dross and quite frankly, a bit weird. A manager who only knows how to play route one football which doesn't suit his squad. We're a day into the new season and it'd be the correct decision to sack him. Major life saving surgery needed as they're a dead cert for relegation.
  12. Watched a bit of the Sheff Wednesday vs Southampton game last night. I hope its been clearly pointed out to our players, (ESPECIALLY TRAVIS) not to kick the ball away. Even 5 yards. With these new rules he feels like a red card waiting to happen.
  13. Venkys aren't selling us any time soon, but if they are only looking to put in a certain amount, which is now reduced, post Indian tax they should look to sell a portion of the club. This would make up the shortfall, allow us to compete up to FFP limits and if the backer were UK based/attended games it would help to bridge a gap between the club/fans and ownership. I don't believe any of this will happen for a moment, but it could be a huge step in the right direction. Give the club a massive shot in the arm.
  14. Or he was putting in all the effort he could, but his body just wasn't up to it anymore...
  15. Can we bring back the feature that when ever anybody typed Keans name, it autocorrect to t*** or something like that. I don't often say this about someone I've never met but him and Anderson were scum. What they did was clear fraud and they ruined our club.
  16. I don't think he's far away. I think he was honest but chose his words carefully in his interview though. By saying he was in the dark, he avoided naming names, whilst making it very clear that he wasn't happy. It didn't make his position untenable in the eyes of owners or directors. I interpreted as a clear demand for backing and the club to sort the mess out ASAP. Turning the pressure up a bit.
  17. I thought Tronstad looked good. He'll put his foot in, shows for the ball and has a good first touch, covers the ground reasonably well and when he gets the ball he only take one or two touches whilst looking for a quick forward pass. I think we've signed a decent quality midfielder who will be an unsung hero. I was worried about him at first though. I was watching on a twitter stream and I loudly exclaimed at how bloody slow he was as I saw him running back during a Girona breakaway. He looked like a hunchback running in quicksand... Then I realised it was Harry Pickering 😂
  18. I'm sure we'd all agree Leonard probably isn't ready to be leading the line for us, though I would have liked to have seen him be given more opportunities this season. He does seem to have good positional awareness so I think he'll grab a few goals. I more worry about games when we're pinned back. I think he might get bullied if left isolated. Especially considering our wide forwards aren't going to be doing much to support him. Aside from his goal against Girona the major positive was that he didn't seem to tire. Looks to have a good level of fitness about him. Patience will be needed with him, but I'm relatively hopeful.
  19. So that's what happened to the pictures 😂 Well done on today though. A great effort all round.
  20. I always appreciate his input. Its great to have a member of this message board who regularly watches the u21s. I've always found him very objective, including his opinion on Markanday. I also saw him post recently that he'd happily be wrong. It's not like he's Sparks/Bucko style vendetta.
  21. I'm not trying to discredit it. The bubble analogy is because there will never be transfers between men's and womens teams. So it does sit outside of that bubble. It's one of those things that the more it begins to develop, I'm sure my interest will increase. I find it difficult to be emotionally invested for one off games as I don't know the history. I've not seen players develop through their careers. I'm not anticipating whether a player lives up to their potential in the future. For me, seeing club level football in the women's game develop would give me more of that consistent interest. It is developing at a rapid pace which is great. Its not hooked me in yet. But I hope that development continues, and I'm more drawn to it in the future.
  22. I don't find it interesting either. I'm not going to get into the quality on show because I think it does a disservice to the women's game. Physical differences, investment, maturity of the game. Making comparisons is unfair and takes away from the opportunity for some to enjoy it, purely for the spectacle that it is. I also think these comparisons, many of which are pushed by the media create a hostile view from some about the women's game. Because objectively speaking, it's totally different and it actually creates factions where people are less inclined to watch and support. The reason i can't get into it, is because it is so totally separate from what I've always loved. I can't think of any better analogy than to liken it to product ecosystems. You'll get some people who own every apple product and would never buy anything different because they are all compatible with each other. When I watch football, whatever the level, each team and player I'm watching, I'm always thinking about how they might develop, sometimes thinking how it could benefit Rovers or England, or even a whole bunch of foreign teams I've got a soft spot for. The world of football is all tied together for me. So to have an aspect of the sport which sits outside that bubble is difficult to get into. I'm not trying to discredit the progression the women's game has made. If England progress I may watch a couple of the later games.
  23. Where's Vinjay when you need him?
  24. It's difficult to find a balance. One thing for certain is that the current rules are being abused. It's become so ridiculous that I'd prefer the scenario whereby a player has to stay off for 30 seconds. Personally I'd actually like to see it extended to 1 minute. 30 seconds feels like no time at all. We will see players finding a workaround in no time though. Expect to see players rolling around to waste time, then refusing for the physios to come on. One thing I'd like to see, is that if the player refuses the physios, the referee can restart the game at their own discretion. I'd like to see referees given more authority to help increase the flow of the game. I see this as being possible if the accountability of the players health is somewhat taken away from them, by allowing the player in question to determine whether they require medical assistance. Head injuries being the clear exception.
