Very good player who we were linked with a few years ago while at Fleetwood. A shame its only a loan but this lad will be a fans favourite by the end of the season and it will be a shame to see him go back to his parent club.

v Hull City (H) - 19/08/2023
robbojohnno replied to Polky's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Hull In Rosenior they have a promising young coach without anything significant to note just yet on his CV. Hull have some good players in Greaves and Tufan but certainly aren't a side we need to fear. They've beaten a very poor Sheff Wed and lost at Carrow Road so its difficult to gauge where they are at based on those two games. Rovers Positive signs with the style of play firmly implemented by Jon a year into his reign. Whilst Venkys and Swag continue to ensure he has one hand tied behind his back, he's built a good team which could really be a force in this league with 2 or 3 quality additions. Unfortunately those signings aren't likely so we will continue to punch above our weight but the lack of experience and quality will hurt us. Score Prediction: 2-1 Rovers or 1-1 My XI (4-3-3) Pears Brittain Hyam Carter Ronnie Travis Wharton JRC Gally Ennis Szmodics COYB -
v Rotherham (a) - 12/08/2023

I thought we started the game well and had we scored the penalty it would have been a comfortable afternoon for us. Unfortunately we missed the penalty and then gave away a horrific goal which gave Rotherham a huge lift and saw them control the rest of the half. The second half started badly with a simple set piece not dealt with but a slightly fortuitous red card gave us a get out of jail card if we wanted it. Until Dolan went off we didn't look like scoring but as soon as Gally came on to make it two up top and Sammie wide left we were a new team and could have had 5 goals rather than the 2 we ended up with. Special Mentions Pickering - very good, particularly at 2 down where he dominated at both ends and seemed one of the few determined to turn it round. JRC - a gamechanger in the middle of the park causing havoc in the inside right channel. Ennis - a proper centre forward, did well for the goal and once up to speed will be the focal point for us. First player since Graham who can hold the ball and shrug off defenders as a striker. Szmodic- a worse half you won't see but he bounced back superbly with 2 goals and is a key player for us. JDT - has got us playing with a clear identity and seems determined to see us score more goals this season even if it may leave us more open. Shame he doesn't get the backing as he would walk this division with a few quality additions. Negatives Dolan and Markanday aren't up to it. Dolan is limited in most areas and Markanday despite the technical ability is physically miles off it. -
v Rotherham (a) - 12/08/2023

1-3 Leonard, JRC and Hedges with the goals. Last season we went to Rotherham with Dack in the side and Vale Hedges and Gallagher as the front 3? It was a horror show but they did score some long range, speculative, efforts. We finished the season a completely different side and have started this season strongly so against a weaker Rotherham (injuries, suspension and loss of players) I think we can win this. -

2-1 Leonard x2. Late goal from the baggies to make things nervy. -
Fantastic news! If he stays fit hes every chance of getting in the Championship team of the season this year. Now to get some goalscorers in the building. COYB

Crazy that he hasn't been tied down to a new deal yet, he has won back to back player of the month awards and has been key to our upturn of form. Fingers crossed it gets sorted out in the next few weeks.

January Transfer window 2022
robbojohnno replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Contract expires next summer so shouldn't be more than £2.5million. It does appear to be low risk for a very promising young player. -

Styles at Barnsley? Very good player and impressive against us whenever we've played them. -

Nyambe is a great one on one defender but his positioning and concentration are poor with his ability on the ball being dreadful. He hasn't made significant improvements since he broke through at 18 so if he won't sign and moves on then we won't struggle to replace him. JRC is very good technically, reads the game but his defending can be improved definitely. Sadly he is made of glass so is unlikely to be a regular here and will likely move on in a couple of years. -

Weren't we 2-0 up v Cardiff and went onto score 5? I agree with the concern though. -

Great to be back at Ewood today and see familiar faces again. The passion from the stands and players on the pitch was fantastic and although I'm the first to want changes off the field, I would ask any fan that can afford it to get down to Ewood this season and support a young crop of footballers wearing the blue and white shirt. There will be darker days ahead but lets enjoy a deserved win. COYB -
Summer transfer window 2021.
robbojohnno replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
You can't compare the two, Idah is a quality player with huge potential and Dolan isn't anywhere near that. Considering the circumstances we find ourselves in this would be a very good deal. -
Worrying contract situation, I think we've left it too late and he will run it down now losing value on any sale. Runs out in 2022 I think? Hes a top Championship striker who will go and thrive at the top level. Look at Shane Long who's made a career in the Prem and he can't finish for toffee! Arma has similar pace but scores goals for fun. A fantastic signing by Mowbray it has to be said.

Kaminski is a big upgrade on Walton at a bargain price. A bit flashy with some saves but like another outfield player on the ball is a huge boost to our all-round play. The midfield 3 were superb and it shows the importance of winning the midfield battle as it allows the front 3 to play. Breo is like a new man, Dolan is the closest thing to Duff ive seen coming into the team at such a young age and Arma is a proper goalscorer - even when he plays poorly he makes an impact. Is this the start of a special season?

Tony's going to have a field day with his tombola today 100%. 3 or 4 goals conceded I fear. -
Summer Transfer Window 2019

Dack plays off the striker or even false 9 at the moment. Rothwell mostly plays on the wing and neither are left footed so I wouldn't compare them to Cairney and Holtby. -

The Cairney replacement finally about to arrive? Holtby, if motivated, is a top player at this level. -

I think quite a few fans on this board are ageist against our Tony, sad to see.

Sheffield united away- League cup

Spot on, people desperate to find a negative! The back 4 is strong and the front 4 exciting. Smallwood and Evan's need some minutes and are clearly backup. -
I imagine a tight game but we seem to have the edge over Hull in recent times so I'll go with 0-1. A miraculous away clean sheet..
