[Archived] Benni Mccarthy - Gone
Welshrover1981 replied to adam lodge's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
I am happy that benni has gone and i hope he can rejuvinate his career. Lets face it he has not been the same for the last couple of seasons and I think his time had come. Lets hope Kalinic can provide a new source of goals for Rovers. I also think it is time that Jason Roberts moves on and Rovers search for another striker. -
[Archived] Toshack Blames Hughes
Welshrover1981 replied to RovertheHill's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Toshack is really peeing me off as a welsh fan and for his reluctance for letting Sav back into the squad. i discussed this with my mates yesterday and we were all in agreement that Tosh should go as he has made wales worse not better during his reign. Tosh is soo inept that he keeps playing 3-5-2 when everyone else plays 4-4-2. Also he needs to bring back Sav, as Wales do not have a decent midfielder. What Sav lacks in skills he makes up in passion and lots of hard work. Hughes did a fantastic job, but Tosh needs to get over himself and wake up. Apparently as well he left out Paul Parry who is playing well for Cardiff and now Parry has removed himself from future Wales call ups. Nice one Tosh!!! -
[Archived] Most Annoying Football Pundit
Welshrover1981 replied to Timmy's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
On Monday Brighty was commentating with Motson. Immediately I thought oh no. During the commentary I heard Motson drivalling on about something when I heard Brighty say 'Quality'. 'Quality' what Brighty? Breasts? Legs? biscuits? What? I think he is lining himself up for the next Bernard Mathews adverts. -

[Archived] Refs Are Biased By "big" Clubs
Welshrover1981 replied to philipl's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Refs will always be on the side of the bigger clubs than the smaller ones. Its always gone on, but the last 5 years with video technology and media interests it is clear that refs will always go towards the big 4 clubs. yesterday is all too apparent reminder proving this point. I could not believe my eyes when I saw the Ref and the Assistant Ref not flag. It is clear that had it been Henry, or Baptista being man handled then they would have given it. I agree with Jewell, Refs are only consistent in being inconsistent. How much do the Prem pay for them not being able to handle the pressure and give clear cut decisions. It is a case of using common sense and being fair. Do they realise that at least 10 clubs rely on being able to survive and that decision could cost them millions of pounds in revenue. When will the FA, Premiership and Referee Association realise this? -
[Archived] Lucas Neill
Welshrover1981 replied to juggalo_rover's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Lets face it, he played well for us over the years and we should thank him for that. but obviously he thought lowley hammers would be more of a challenge. I mean with that £50k a week, how will he find his way round selfridges and Oxford road in his Baby 'I'm bigger than any club' Bentley. Obviously he heard one obscure coach say that he could play for any club and thought F it, I will go for it and see how far a club will go to pay my extrodinary wages. Do you think someone should tell him that he will be playing the Championship League and not The Champions League. -

[Archived] Nintendo Wii
Welshrover1981 replied to M-K's topic in I Can't Believe It's Not Football Archive
Well to much of my surprise, my girlfriend got me a Wii for Crimbo without telling me. She managed to get it 5 days before the big day. Thank god her mother works for Toys R Us. Well whats it like? It kicks ass. i have never played anything which allows soo much interaction with a game. Wave goodbye with sitting on your fat ass and start getting fit with Wii Sports. Saves the pennies on the gym. I was quite sceptical at first considering the whole waving your arms around and hitting my bro over the head but Nintendo have hit the nail on the head. My mum dad, girlfriend, gf sister, her mum dad have had a go and all loved it. The first thing which they say is that it is soo easy to pick up and play. No reading the manual, just a case of give it a swing and see what happens. This I believe why it will be succesful and X Box and PS3 will be following suit. This has changed the way games are played. I cant wait ever to be able to download classics from the internet. I have also played zelda which looks and plays really well. The problem is that there is no voice overs which makes the characters a little wooden. Red Steel is very good but isn't brilliant. As the first game being a 1st person shooter, it plays well but the sword fighting is a big let down and just seems to be a little to predictable and easy. Also when everything goes off with bullets firing everywhere you lose where the Wiimote is pointing and realise it is pointing to the opposite wall and thus you lose your bearings. But hopefully these will be ironed out in the future and I will expect far better games Wii Sports is great and I love it. Bowling and tennis are great fun, but my favs are the golf, baseball, and boxing. Golf is fantastic and you really have to judge your shots as well as the baseball. I cant wait to play some cricket on this. Though I am not expecting anything great to come from the footy department as I cant see me sticking the wii mote on me shoes. but overall, give this time and it will reward. PS3 and XBox to follow the same route? Definetly. look forward to seeing your opinions. -
I don't think Lucas should be captain and it should be offered to Friedal, Savage or Ooujer. But we all know what Hughes is trying to do in this scenario. Hughes wants him to stay and uses the captaincy as an incentive to keep him. Well it hasn't worked Hughes, give it up and hand it over to someone else who is willing to commit to the club.

Welshrover1981 replied to philipl's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Good to see the young ones get a start. It will be a good test for them and to prove to Hughes and us that they are worthy to push the first 11. Also good to see gallagher given a chance and also Jay. -
[Archived] Vote For New Kit For 2007-8
Welshrover1981 replied to key76's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Home kit 3 and Away kit 3 for me. Why is it that they have to change the home kit every season. Another £35 for a red stripe on the Blue and White Halves? Dont make sense to me. For teh away kit to change every season I dont care as I think it should be changed, but lets keep the home kit changes to a minimum. But I do like the black and ref halves for the away. -
[Archived] Rovers 0-1 United
Welshrover1981 replied to vyeo's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
I must admit, this is the first time under Hughes where I really am not enjoying the current situation. Bolton, West Ham, Villa, and now Manure. Tottenham next? I think this will be the lowest point in our season, and I cant see it getting any worse. Fingers Crossed (Injuries suspensions etc). Doom and Gloom prediction here 0-3 to United. Rooney and Ronaldo making up from the misses on Tuesday night. -
[Archived] Aston Villa V Rovers
Welshrover1981 replied to Ricky's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Hughes has got to ge his priorities right here. The Premiership is far more important than Europe. At the end of the day its about doing well in the Prem and sticking a weakened team in Europe. We are doing a Middleborough, and we are suffering because of it. 2 more midfielders and definately a left back to replace Gray. If we can all see how crap he is, why cant Hughes? -
