  1. I could be wrong here, but walking past the Darwen End before the game, the majority of Chelsea fans seemed to be local day-trippers out to see their new team for the first time. Hearing kids with local accents in Chelsea shirts walking to the ground is disappointing, but not surprising. There were only a couple of coaches parked up behind the away end.
  2. The 89/90 season was a truly terrible one for penalties, culminating in David May's last minute "effort" against Leeds that cleared the Blackburn End Roof. I would agree with Phillipl about David Mail - but he only ever took two as I can recall, both away at Stoke and Ipswich.
  3. Crystal Palace is just about the worst away trip in history. Poor ground, bad memories (mostly) and a nightmare to get to.
  4. But will he have to borrow his Dad's flourescent steward's jacket and flat cap?
  5. Hell yes he was awful. Was part of the squad for the FMC final. Later returned to Sutton United where Saxton bought him from and played in the team which put Coventry out of the FA cup.
  6. Surprised Jason McAteer hasn't got a mention. Massively over-rated spice boy.
  7. Cheers for the youtube link Pabby, its very much appreciated.
  8. Scotty, you're spot-on, Howard Gayle missed a penalty which would have put us 3-0 up. He had scored an absolute hat full all season. Palace got a jammy goal in the last few minutes (Eddie McGoldrick I think) to make it two one but Garner slid one in almost straight after to make it 3-1. We couldn't fail this time. Rovers just didn't get going at all - it was all downhill after Windy Miller missed a golden chance early on. It was difficult as a 15 year old fighting back tears as grown men were openly weeping on that terrace. Anyone who wasn't there and says "its only a game blah blah" should be quiet.
  9. Bring back the "Blackburn Rovers Bingo" that was featured in an issue in the early 1990's!
  10. Andy, we played PNE at home in the Manx Cup in the Summer of 88, they beat us 3-2 with Mark Patterson scoring the winner for them.
  11. Ones that I attended from the top of my head were Simon Garners (Newcastle in the Summer of 1988) and his second effort in 2003 and Terry Gennoe's (against Aberdeen of all people) in Autumn 1992 just after we had been promoted.
  12. Only if we manage to sign Cisse, Gazza and Stan Collymore.
  13. Good topic. Personally, I think it would have to be Hendry, as he first at the club when we had nothing, only to return when we were just about to hit the big time and was a rock in the title winning team. I know Simon Garner touches on this aspect of Rover's life in his autobiography, but in fairness to him he didnt feature a great deal when Dalglish took over. I would also like to find the true reason why Hendry left for Rangers in '98.........
  14. I remember that @#/? Payton mouthing off and celebrating when he scored right in front of the Rovers fans the last time we played there, 1990 I think.
  15. A few pints of "Ayingerbrau" in the Greyhound will turn anyone into Rambo!
  16. This could be the first game i've ever walked to, a novelty if nothing else!
  17. Didn't know his uncle was the mighty Cyrille Regis. If he can do half as much as he did in the game whilst he is a Rover, I'll be happy.
  18. He plays for Spurs doesn't he? Say no more.
  19. The Telegraph tonight reports that his agent is one Kevin Moran! A new one on me.
  20. On the basis of that performance, I think Chipperfield should go back to his family's circus business and carry on beating chimps with sticks.
  21. After the Spurs game early in the season, the ginger tosser Durham and his sidekick Martin suggested Rovers should be docked points/demoted from the Premier League because of our conduct in the game! He's nothing more than a WUM like the rest of the presenters on that station.
  22. Sorry to be anal Ozzie, but it was Marco Tardelli
  23. By far the best games I have seen came in Spain 82. The Italy-Brazil quarter final and the France-Germany semi. Pure drama.
