The rain on Friday was indescribable. About 15 hours of non stop torrential downpour. I live next to RAF Brize Norton. The previous rainfall record was in the 70mm in the 1960`s. On friday we had 126mm. Not far off double. Cancelled my Cornwall holiday in 2 weeks. Bugger that, we`re off to turkey.

I couldn`t get home Friday evening in the car. I had to abondon the car and walk a couple of miles through the flood to get home. Its not until you walk in knee deep water that you appreciate the current and the stink of cow ###### in the water. The area is under more threat tonight as the Thames reaches its peak. I`m fortunate that the town I live in is pretty much unscathed but there are some unbelievable sights around here.

Exactly Paul. The jet stream at this time of year is usually somewhere to the north of the island. For the recent weeks / months, there has been a considerable kink in the jet stream seeing it as far south as North Africa. Its just one of those years where various natural occurences such as water temperatures, air pressures, lows , highs etc have resulted in the current weather.

I agree, Prem safety is paramount. However, our most recent promotion year with Duff, Dunn, Jansen produced some of the best football seen at Ewood since the title winning team. You do not have to be in the top league to appreciate and enjoy good football.

Its Rovers related but not a game we took part in. In 1995 as the title run in came to a head Man.U were away to Coventry. A very poor Kevin Richardson header back to his own keeper resulted in Man.U scoring. If not for that, United would have been denied points and we would have had the chance to win the title at home against Newcastle on VE day. I`ve never forgiven Richardson for that.
