  1. Yes. Tube to Paddington, fast train to Reading and £2 bus to the ground.
  2. They have also won 9-0, 7-0, 6-1, 7-0 and 9-2. They have been making a mockery of the FA decision all season.
  3. I've been in plenty which reduce prices when it's quiet though e.g. happy hour. Presumably that's what's happening here?
  4. Well it was in the 30s when my grandad was going to Ewood and Deepdale on alternate weeks, walking to both from Bamber Bridge. And it was in the 70s when I was watching Southport on Friday nights and alternating Saturdays with Ewood and somewhere else when they Rovers away somewhere a distance away. And I’m pretty sure it was in the 90s when there were plenty of fans coming to watch Premier League games at Ewood because they could.
  5. Whilst I understand your main point blueboy, the obvious answer to this is that if they did that they would have to charge away fans the same. Putting together a package allows the club to charge top prices for the North End game when given their form they will no doubt bring plenty.
  6. A few weeks ago I expressed an opinion that I hadn't seen any end product in what Rothwell offered. He seemed to be all about picking up the ball, running at defenders, often beating one or two and then most of the time giving the ball away. He then proceeded to put in a couple of good performances immediately after and I thought he was making progress. Then yesterday he was back to a headless chicken performance. To add to blueboy's points there was another when Williams had the ball on the touchline and looked up into an acre of space up the left wing whilst Rothwell was standing around on the edge of the box. I haven't read many of the posts after the game as we have been entertaining my brother-in-law and sister-in-law, both Bristol City season ticket holders. They were both apologetic after the game for having stolen the points - we all agreed that a draw would have been the fairer result. Despite them sitting in a play-off position currently they can't see them staying there. Certainly we will play worse and get something from a future game - in fact we did play worse against QPR and won earlier in the season.
  7. Given it's Notlob I guess it's sourdough.
  8. The club won't undercut the package they have given to full and half ST holders for a 6 game package. I'd agree that I don't expect huge numbers of this package to be sold. Maybe the fact that for 6 games it's a relatively small amount of cash for many might encourage a few and for most they should have a fair idea of whether they can make the games, which you can't when you're buying in the Summer.
  9. I'm a farmer's son perthblue, so if you want I can get you some straw to clutch on.......
  10. And exactly how does all this relate to the discussion on attendances?
  11. For those travelling to the game from the west the canal bridge at Green Lane in Cherry Tree has now reopened.
  12. You're probably right mattyblue. It's worked for me though, as i knew I would be buying a few extra match tickets. My son gave up his season ticket this season as he only made 4/5 games all last year, but he still gets to a few and the £3 discount is worth it for me.
  13. I don't know how many 1875 Club members there are but it seems to me a decent deal if you want to come to this game and maybe a few others before the end of the season. If you join for £15 the ticket for Boro will be £25 with £5 back in the club shop and then £3 discounts thereafter. I took out membership as a ST holder for £10 and have had my money back with a few tickets for my son when he can make it and will save a bit more in the rest of the season. Hardly a fortune but still definitely a saving. I'm still expecting a multi-game offer as indicated at the last Fans Forum - looks likely now that it will include the home games with PNE and Wigan, allowing discounts for home fans whilst charging top prices for away fans.
  14. Lies, damned lies and statistics. Bristol City have won 6 in a row - 1 in the league in December, 3 in January and two FA cup ties.
  15. We still have to play Norwich away, last away game of the season.
  16. I can remember being at the Fans Forum when John said it, although I can't remember exactly when it was. It wasn't averaged out over the attendance v capacity. It was simply the average money the club got from its mix of adult, kid and senior tickets. So anyone who just multiplies the number of STs sold by the adult price is overestimating the take by almost 50%. Of course, it doesn't negate the general point about if the price was reduced we might make more if we increased sales by 50%, but the actual sum would be a lot lower. A reminder about Steve Waggott's comment at the Forum on 7th January: - There would be some 6 and 4 game packages on offer during the remainder of the season and a one-off discounted game.
  17. I think Paul and Tomphil are talking at cross purposes. I assume Paul is talking about sales of food, drink, programmes etc on matchdays and Tomphil about the average revenue per person on ticket sales. I certainly remember John Williams saying the average ticket price sold was about £13 in the days when a full price ticket was around £20 or a bit more. I doubt that calculation has changed much since then. So 10,000 STs will be generating nearer £2m than £3.5m. I have joined the OAPs on cheaper season tickets this season and a quick look round the JW Upper will show I'm far from alone.
  18. Ah, Victor Hugo. An excellent craftsman but getting on a bit.
  19. There’s plenty of expensive housing in Worsley.
  20. Like Southampton perhaps?
  21. Their average home attendance is 12,400, about 1,800 less than us and 21 out of 24 in the league..........
  22. I don't think there are any plans that are nearing fruition. We have been talking to them about these sort of initiatives over the last few meetings and I think buses are the most likely to see happen first.
  23. I'm afraid it is my opinion and sadly, it's the only one I've got. Although in this case there were one or two more on the game thread who agreed Smallwood played well. Maybe I've missed some outstanding performance away from home but I've not seen anything from Rothwell that could be described as a positive impact. I wonder whether it's the old adage about a player sat on the bench getting better and better in fans' minds as they see the shortcomings of those on the pitch.
  24. I take it you weren't at Ewood on Tuesday then? Smallwood played a number of great balls out to Reed on the right wing. I had it down as a toss up between him and Lenihan for man of the match.
  25. He had a full game at Bramall Lane and the sum total of his performance was to dive when in the 6 yard box. From the subsequent free kick United broke away and scored.
