Funny how football works. 15 months Eustace was dumped by Birmingham harshly while in the playoffs. Today he dumps us while having us in the playoffs. While we've been shafted by our owners. it still highlights the lack of loyalty in football from all parties. Thanks Eustace, however as there's no loyalty anymore I don't particularly wish you well for the rest of your career.

We are now on just 3 points less than when Eustace took over last season (12 games later).

Some stats comparing to last year. Last year we were on 28 points after 18 games. (1 game better this season). We then imploded last year with JDT eventually getting sacked. 6 points from 12 games. Eustace then came in and 19 points from last 16. Let's hope we avoid the annual festive implosion.

I do think us not playing at the weekend helped here. We seemed to have real energy in our defending second half. May bite us In the arse when the rearranged fixture comes about but definitely helped today against a boro side who looked sluggish.

Thought he was done after Sheffield weds game. Quietly done his business this season. To be fair I think the whole defense has (good coaching). Good game tonight and a marginally tight offside goal 🤣

Great performance from him. He's also doing great to not get that yellow card to get a ban. I think it was him a few years ago that went on that amazing run of not getting a yellow card (think it was like 10 games) to not be banned. Seems like he gets enjoyment from it!

Obviously best starting XI and better squads are different. I'd argue we had a better starting XI 12 months ago. Although we have a better squad now (Even though I still don't think we have enough depth). As for the Bowyer squad, the reason it failed was lack of depth defensively (a similar story as now IMO). However attacking that squad managed to keep Josh King on the Bench.

I like our signings and credit to our recruitment team. However (in my opinion) we do not have the best squad since relegation. Heck despite the good recruitment, we have lost Wharton and szmodics from that starting XI in 12 months. That bowyer season is still by far our best squad since relegation. Still not to be a downer I'm hopeful after today. I certainly hope we can push on from last season dreadful last 6 months.

Great post. I for one saw this as a distraction. Win against Norwich wishing it was 3 league points. Annoyed Birmingham game was a replay wasting fitness. Thinking we'd get battered at Leicester and destroy our confidence. Suddenly we are 90 minutes away from our first day at new Wembley ( only 1 of 6 league clubs not to experience that) Ironically our last semi final appearance almost saw us as one of the first clubs at new Wembley.
