    Savage Debut

Rovers will be without the suspended, Paul Dickov and Tugay for tonight’s game against Bolton at Ewood this evening. Kick off 8pm. Tugay’s place will more than likely be taken by Robbie Savage who should make his debut after signing from Birmingham last week, of more concern to Hughes and the fans will be who will lead the attack in Dickov’s absence. Will Hughes gamble on the fitness of the experienced Jay Bothroyd or Matt Jansen, who are both returning from injury or will he gamble on youngsters Jon Stead and Paul Gallagher. The final line up could be intriguing especially with the news that want away Barry Ferguson is back in training and Ryan Nelsen is also available after being ineligible for last weeks game against Cardiff. 8. Welcome back den. The best striker I suspect recognised by all, even non Rovers supporters will be Shearer and whilst Garner's record of goals is second to none it has to be realised that these were gained in the lower divisions. I'm still pondering and open minded about the second striker, but at the moment I'm wondering who would be the perfect foil for Shearer, with Jansen in his prime currently springing to mind. This is going to taker some deep thought and research of the history books.

  17. In his post match interview skysports are quoting Mark Hughes as saying. "It was a poor game from our point of view, We never really played at any stage in the game. "We possibly got stuck into the kind of game that Cardiff wanted to play, but fair play to them, they were energetic, they got up to the ball which at times we didn't do, we made it a hard night. "We kept getting forced back on the long balls, we needed to be more brave and keep a high line and then drop at the last moment. "We didn't get our line right and that made the game too open and fair play to Cardiff they play that game week-in week-out and in the end we got sucked into playing a similar type of game. "We are thankful that we got the result and are in the hat but we can do better than that. We let our standards drop today. We didn't get beat so that's something to be pleased about."

  19. In a hard fought game Rovers made their way through to the next round of the FA Cup against Colchester when they beat Cardiff City 3-2 in tonight’s FA Cup replay. After taking the lead in the 9th minute through Thompson, Rovers let Cardiff back into the game in the 25th minute when McAnuff equalised for the Bluebirds, before Thompson scored with a bizarre goal just after the half hour mark. Within 2minutes of the restart Rovers went 3 – 1 up through Pederson, but within 10 minutes Collins scored for Cardiff to make it 3 – 2. Final Score Rovers 3 Cardiff 2.
