  1. I remember back in the 60's another scottish midfielder, Bobby Hope at West Brom. Every 6 months or so he would declare he was home sick for Scotland and requested a transfer. Each time WBA turned down his request. Lat time I heard of him he was still living in the Midlands, Bromsgrove I believe. Mind you those were the days before freedom of contract, agents and mercenary players. Make him wait, maybe by the summer his Mrs will be happier and the kids will have made friends. Maybe Rovers will win the FA Cup and a place in europe, maybe Rangers imporove their offer in the summer or Souness / Moyes come in with an offer. Ooops, waffling again. but maybe you get my drift.
  2. If I remember correctly there was a mini, bidding war between ourselves and Everton for Ferguson signature, which pumped the price up.
  3. Meanwhile Rovers manager Mark Hughes is being quoted as telling BBC Radio Five Live. "Nothing's changed in respect to our position on Barry. We don't want him to leave," "He doesn't have to leave and he's very much a part of what we're trying to do here. "We're looking to add to the squad. It's important that everybody understands that there's no way Barry will leave because we don't want him to. "He's going to be coveted by a number of top football clubs because he's a top football player but he's our player and that's how we hope he'll stay."
  4. Life is just a box of chocolates. There's Turkish Delight, The hard ones that break your teeth on and then there are the soft centred ones that make you feel sick.
  5. Skysports.com are reporting that, Barry Ferguson's agent John Viola confirmed to them that the Ferguson has handed in a transfer request at 9-30 this morning. Skysports are quoting Viola as saying. "It's a fact Barry has handed in a transfer request," "Barry did it this morning at 9.30 and we will wait and see what happens." Rovers chief executive John Williams has confirmed the request stating. "I can confirm that Barry has put in a transfer request and the situation will now be considered by the board," Copyright © BRFCS.com and CN174
  6. Dear Sir. Can Alan be excused from that list as he has not been able to rearrange a work schedule in time. Due to Sky, Alan has allready had to change a business appointment to ensure attendance next Monday night. Thank you Alan's mum
  7. Lads lets not get so upset, you know Rovers cant compete with the likes of these big city clubs. Heck Birmingham have won the Auto Windshield Shield.
  8. Leaving at 9am - 8pm kick off. Are they going to drink the Fernhurst dry...
  9. Another three welcomed points away at Portsmouth, but also a fine for accumulating six yellow cards in one game. Two of which included league debutants Aaron Mokoena and Ryan Nelsen, are referees in other leagues more tollerant or is it because D'Urso is sticking to the laws of the game. D'Urso, the same referee who failed to sent Ferguson off after issuing two yellow cards during Rovers last visit to the South Coast when they were beaten by a dubious last minute penalty against Southampton. I wasn't at the game and only saw the edited three minute highlights on MOTD, but I wonder, after being suspended for that glaring mistake at the St Mary stadium, whether Mr D'Urso is now only working to the prescribed laws of the game. If that is the case I cant blame him, however have the laws of the game become so restrictive that they will eventually strangle themselves. One wonders if the likes of Mark Hughes or Portsmouth's coach, Joe Jordan would have made a living let alone gained such high recognition in the game if the current lack of physical attributes had been outlawed in the past decade. What is becoming more evident, we are now developing a new breed of player who cannot tackle. For the fear of being booked defenders are continually backing off attackers, very few go in for that 50 / 50 crunching tackle, they prefer to pull shirts and step in front of players. It's this what infuriates fans, "the cheat" who spends the whole ninety minutes claiming for every indiscretion and throw in, or corner, even though it's obvious that he knocked the ball out of play. It's not the hard clean tackle that upsets fans it's the dive, after being tripped by an imaginary foot. That said, Mokoena trip on Portsmouth's Kamara, wasn't imaginary and he was rightly booked for it, fortunately he wasn't the last defender otherwise he would have started his league debut with a straight red card.
  10. I see there was a bit of trouble after MGP scored. Quote from one newspaper.
  11. where is hughes going eddie
  12. Liittle bit of gossip Micheal Gray to move to Birmingham as part of a £3m deal to capture Savage.
  13. If thats true, it's no wonder there's no cup ticket price reduction or why Fergy wants to cash in on the transfer market.
  14. It would appear that Dwight Yorke is on his way out of St Andrews only four-and-a-half months after Birmingham manager Steve Bruce signed him from Rovers. Yorke has not been a regular in the Birmingham team, since signing on transfer deadline day and now his place on the City bench will be restricted further, with the signing of former Dingle striker Robbie Blake. Steve Bruce is being quoted in various media sources as stating. : "I've had a chat with Dwight and he's a bit frustrated that he hasn't been playing as regularly as he would like. If the right bid comes in, then it's probably best for all concerned that he makes a move." Very similar comment to those were uttered on this site last summer.
  15. Viola sounds like a Fiddle. Must have more strings to his bow.
  16. How different our Chief Exec is to Birmingham's. Come on JW, be honest tell the media all the details, so that they can spin the story out till the end of the month. Get yourself in the paper JW get yourself in there ~ JW write an article
  17. Very true philipl. we could quite easily follow the Birmingham example in slagging off Savage.
  18. BBC Wednesday, 12 January, 2005, 15:31 GMT Rovers Snub Rangers Bid
  19. Well seeing it's now official. Topic re-opened. Blackburn Rovers have today rejected a bid from Glasgow Rangers for the club captain Barry Ferguson. Speaking on the club web site John Williams stated "We have received an offer from Rangers but we have informed them Barry is not for sale" Ferguson has been the subject of much speculation linking him to a return to Scotland during the current transfer window. Some media reports suggest Rangers will buy the midfielder for a cut-price £3m as he is keen to return to Glasgow, while other sources quote Ferguson as being "very happy at Blackburn"
