The club according to the LET want to speak to Fergusons Agent. Cant the club speak direct to Ferguson. Does Hughes and the back room staff not speak to the Ferguson during training, he is club CAPTAIN. No wonder there is so much disenchantment and lack of interest by supporters. If the club staff cant communicate between themselves, whatever chance is there of the club being able to communicate with the supporters. Actually let me rephrase that whatever chance is there of the club being able to communicate with the paying public

Rovers midfielder Steven Reid has avoided a ban but has been fined £1,000 by The FA. after he was charged with improper conduct following an incident involving Jesper Gronkjaer during the home match against Birmingham on the 21st November 2004. Reid avoided any possibility of a ban due to the lesser charge, but he was warned about his future conduct. A statement on the FA's website reads. "At a disciplinary commission hearing today, Blackburn's Steven Reid was fined £1,000 and warned to his future conduct,"

If they had stuck with the £24 all areas, people who normaly sit in the Riverside and JW would have paid more than a premier league game. At leaste everyone now gets a reduction on normal prices. -
Rovers appear to have done a U-Turn on yesterdays statement regarding FA Cup Replay tickets, when they stated that tickets would be £24 (£19 s/t holders) to all parts of the ground Cup Replay Tickets Official Site News

Sorry Flopsy, got to install new central heating rads this weekend or I dont get a pass for the remainder of the seasons fixtures. -
Heck the press wires have gone mad with the news that Nelsen has joined Rovers. Expect a rush of new kiwi and DC fans as members of the site. Anyone remember any other Kiwi's who have played in the Premier or old 1st Div.

Rovers have this afternoon confirmed the signing of DC United Washington and New Zealand Captain Ryan Nelson. The 27 year-old centre half who can also play midfield, had trials with Rovers, towards the end of last year, has been offered an 18-month contract. Nelsen who has been voted American Soccer League All-Star twice, as well as the 2003-2004's Defender of the Year. Captianing DC United to their 4th title in 9 years.

Rovers Official web site, www.rovers.co.uk have confirmed this morning that new signing Aaron Mokoena has been granted International clearance and can now play once selected. The official site have also stated that the transfer of New Zealand International Ryan Nelsen is progressing well.

Ah so Chester have out bid us.

No, it has nothing to do with Rovers transfer target Robbie Savage wanting to be nearer to his parents. Cancelled Due to waterlogged pitch Rovers reserves play their first game of the New Year this evening away to Liverpool at Wrexham, when Amoruso gets his first run out after being injured against Middlesborough back in October. A strong Rovers squad, also includes Morten Gamst Pederson, De Pedro, McEverley and Enckelman, will be hoping to continue their good form as league leaders. Kick off 7pm.

Very true 92er, a certain left back if I remember correctly.

Rovers have had a second bid for Robbie Savage turned down by Birmingham City, despite the player submitting a transfer request and being dropped for last nights game against Bolton. A game that Bolton won 2 – 1 at St Andrews. Rovers are reported to have increased their bid for the 30-year-old player by 33%, making the deal worth around £2.5 million. A Birmingham supporter stated on BBC Radio Wales this morning that whilst he wouldn’t like to see Savage leave the club, many of the Birmingham supporters were annoyed regarding the transfer request, backing Steve Bruces decision to drop Savage for last nights game. He even went to suggest that maybe Savage should be dropped to the reserves until the matter is resolved. Meanwhile a representative from www.brfcs.co.uk told the radio station that Rovers supporters would welcome Savage to Ewood Park, however this should only occur if the price was right. The representative stated that whilst he would be happy to see Savage at the club, the club should not be held to ransom by a Birmingham exorbitant transfer fee.
-
Listening to a Birmingham supporter this morning, he is happy for Savage to rot in the reserves, due to the fact that he put in a transfer request. A case of cut off your nose, to spoil your face.
-
BBC Radio Wales will be discussing the Robbie Savage transfer tomorrow morning at 7-40am. With contributions from a www.brfcs.co.uk member and a Birmingham supporter.

By the way, who had that blinking bird whistle in the BBE.

Well, I'm in the Jan camp. Ive supported the team through good and bad times, heck I didnt even miss a game during the days of Jim Iley, but some of the stuff we had to endure in the last 12 month, made me seriously concider whether I should renew my season ticket. It got to the point that I was going out of habbit. Another season like the last, and I suspect my money would have gone instead on subscribing to sky instead.

After the disappointment of Saturday's defeat at Villa Park, Rovers bounced back with 1 - 0 home win against Charlton, thanks to a text book header from Australian International Bret Emerton. Rovers who had dominated the first half eventually got the winning goal five minutes before the break when Ferguson cut the ball back to Thompson, whose pin point cross found Emerton free at the far post and the Australian made no mistake in thundered his header back across the goalmouth into the back of the Charlton net. These are Souness's players, but what is becoming increasingly obvious, this is Mark Hughes team. To date Hughes has had to work with the players that he inherited and he must take credit for transforming players who performances at times last season were'nt fit to wear the shirt. A defence that was full of schoolboy errors is now gelling to a point that Friedel is becoming a spectator. Just one save to make all afternoon, admittedly a good save that prevented Charlton a certain goal. Across the back Todd and Nissa are becoming rock solid in the middle, and dare I say it. Todd is becoming the new Short. Even when he made a mistake, he quickly recovered to snuff out the danger. Whilst Neill isnt attacking so much his defending is improving, although his jinking run into the 6 yard box late in the game had us all gasping. A surging run by a full back into the opposition penalty area, late in the game also showed how fitter the team is now under Hughes. Unfortunately Hughes still needs to resolve the left back position as it does give me the shakes when ever the opposition attack down the right. Although not a cultured player, Flitcrofts battling and hard tackling helps to protect the defence and allows Ferguson more freedom to venture forward. Emerton who under achieved the most last season is now showing why he was such a sought after player a few seasons ago, even playing on the left and out of position he causes teams problems. Whist I have mentioned certain individuals, there are no star players, none that the kid on the park can identify with, this is because the players are playing as a team, they are playing as a unit. That is principally why the team isnt conceding goals. On todays display I wouldnt nominate any one player as man of the match. It was a collective performance of individuals who have gelled as a unit. If I were to highlight one player it would be Stead, who would get my vote for most unlucky player. He grafted hard today, running into channels and trying to create chances for himself. The shot just before half time, after he'd gone round the defender and cut in from the corner looked a goal all the way, until the Charlton keeper got a hand to it. Rovers: Friedel, Matteo, Todd, Johansson, Neill, Emerton, Flitcroft, Ferguson, Thompson (Reid 88), Dickov, Stead (Gallagher 80). Subs Not Used: Pedersen, Enckelman, McEveley. Booked: Stead, Matteo. Goals: Emerton 41. Charlton: Kiely, Hreidarsson (Hughes 71), Fortune, El Karkouri, Young, Kishishev (Euell 60), Holland, Murphy, Rommedahl, Johansson, Thomas (Konchesky 60). Subs Not Used: Stuart, Andersen. Booked: Rommedahl, Hreidarsson, Young. Ref: A Wiley Att: 19,819.

After the game Rovers manager Mark Hughes praised the teams performance over the festive period and stated that today’s result was thoroughly deserved. Speaking to BBC Radio Lancashire he stated. "I'm delighted and I thought we really deserved the victory today," "We were pleased to be ahead at half-time but I thought we were progressive in the second half as well - we didn't sit back on the lead." Hughes went on to praise reserved praise Jon Stead, stating. "The only disappointment of the day is that for all his hard work he didn't get the reward with a goal," "It's been a difficult period for him but if he keeps working like that, I've no doubt he will turn his season around." It's bad enough for us supporters to drag our "posteriors" out of the armchair. A well early night before another trip up and down the M6.
