  1. The 36-year-old becomes Mark Hughes' first signing since he took over. Hughes told the club's website. "Youri is exactly the sort of player we are looking for to make a difference," Djorkaeff is reported to have said that he had enjoyed playing in England and was delighted to have another chance to do so. "I miss playing in England and I feel I have a lot to offer in the Premier League," "I am a naturally fit person and I have been keeping fit by training hard in the south of France. "I feel I have another good two years left in me."

  3. Rovers have completed the signing of Youri Djorkaeff on a short-term deal. The out of contract Djorkaeff has signed a deal to remain at Ewood Park until January.
  4. Charlton 1 Rovers 0 Despite having the better chances in the first half with Garry Flitcoft coming close early on, Rovers went in at half time 0 - 0. Four minutes after the restart Charlton went ahead when El Karkouri headed home a Danny Murphy corner. Rovers looked to have had a reasonable penalty appeal after Hreidarsson appeared to handle in the box, but no it appears that Rovers are heading for a world record, after going 52 games without being awarded a penalty. Charlton Kiely, Young, Perry, Fortune, Hreidarsson, Stuart, Murphy, El Karkouri, Hughes (Euell 76), Lisbie, Jeffers (Johansson 12), Johansson (Kishishev 76). Subs Not Used: Andersen, Rommedahl. 5. Posted by philipl in wrong topic Rodney Marsh predicts a draw. He says one or two other things as well.
  6. Someone who over re-acts after a defeat and starts pessimistic topics.
  7. Very true Paul, it doesnt matter how good or bad the team plays, it's the result that matters. Anyone thinking of visiting Rovers can only go by reading the press. It doesnt matter how well the club or it's die hard supporters promote the club, results on the field is what influences the general public. A bad result in more ways than being knocked out of the cup.

    No Excuse

Blackburn 3 Bournemouth 3 6-7 on pens after extra time No excuses of poor referee or lady luck, Mark Hughes said it all in his post match comments. "We should have seen that game out. We conceded three goals which, given our chances, is disappointing. "Our performance wasn't good enough and we did not deserve to get anything. "Bournemouth stuck to their task and looked physically stronger at times, and that is not acceptable." Rovers Enckelman, Neill, Amoruso, Johansson, Gresko (Gallagher 85), Emerton, Tugay, Douglas, De Pedro (Pedersen 57), Bothroyd (Stead 61), Jansen. Subs Not Used: Friedel, Matteo. 9. Actually Bellamy will before the international say something like. I love to play for Wales and for Mark Hughes. Paper headline. I'd love to play for Hughes.

  11. How refreshing to hear a Rovers manager state that he is taking cup competitions serious. Mark Hughes, is quoted on the official Rovers site as saying: "When I was here as a player, we won the League Cup and it had transforming effect on our season. At that time, we were not doing too well in the league, but winning the League Cup gave everyone a real lift. "Believe me, we will be taking it very seriously, the prize of European football at the end is too easily forgotten. As far as I am concerned, it's a very important competition. I for one, will never forget that great day at the Millennium Stadium!" There is currently a debate on the message board forum regarding dwindling attendances at Ewood Park, with various reasons for the decline of bums on seats. One of the main reasons apart from the teams performance, was that the previous management tended to treat cup competitions as a distraction. Comments by Hughes about taking the cup serious, is like a breath of fresh air to Rovers supporters and hopefully a good cup run will bring back the fans to Ewood Park.
  12. OK I know its the Sun, but they are reporting. MARK HUGHES has handed Matt Jansen the chance to earn a new contract at Blackburn. The ex-England Under-21 star fell out of favour with old boss Graeme Souness. But Jansen, 26, gave Hughes a winning start with Rovers by scoring against Portsmouth at the weekend. Jansen’s contract runs out at the end of the season but he will get a chance to impress in tonight’s Carling Cup tie against Bournemouth. Hughes said: “As far as I’m concerned, Matt is going nowhere. He just needs confidence.”
  13. Taken from a University of Leicester Football Research Paper. Home grounds and Crowd Atmosphere 7.4 Back in 1996, 38% of all supporters surveyed felt that the atmosphere at games was 'as lively and as enjoyable as ever'. In 2000 that figure was down to 30%. Recently promoted clubs tended to do best here, such as Watford and Sunderland. Generally fans at the larger 'big city' clubs in the North and the Midlands, are more unhappy, but there is no clear-cut pattern. Only 7% of this Manchester United sample thought the atmosphere at Old Trafford was 'as lively as ever'. Few fans thought going to football was now 'deadly dull' Full text if anyone wants to read it CLICK HERE
  14. Liverpool and Portsmouth have only played 5 games this season whilst the rest have played 6.
  15. I see your point jim, in the right back poll Newton came 3rd behind Crompton and Berg. Berg getting more votes I presume because more people on here had seen him play.
  16. Have you got a link. Untill you can prove that the best supported team has declining attendances I will not believe it. Even then I would suggest that it's propaganda being spread by other jealous north west clubs
  17. And he also says there is a prize at the end so we wont be taking Bournemouth lightly.
  18. At last a manager who is taking the cup serious. Official Site
  19. Now that he's implemented iced baths, are you sure it didnt say fridge players
  20. Paul, I think we are both singing from the same hymn book. This season I think I bought my season ticket, more out of habbit than desire. It didnt help either the delay in sending out season details, the longer I waited the more I got disillusioned about where the club was heading. especially with the lack of quality signings. After the announcement of sky coverage and the first few games I started to regret purchasing my ST and wondered whether subscribing to Sky would have been a more ecconomical expenditure at leaste I could have watched a film on Saturday afternoon, instead of the tripe that was being dished out at Ewood Park. Now if someone who has followed the club for over 30 years had got into that state of mind, its no wonder that the fair weather supporters arent turning up.
