This guy MGB, is a confident little so and so, aint he. Hopes the transfer is concluded in time for the United game. Hardly a chance to meet his team mates or to do any training but there again Capt Kayos does question what they do, do in training. Maybe his first meeting will be the hand shake before kick off, hope Deano tells him we play in Blue and White.

exclusive Finally found out what the stumbling block is in the MGB saga is. Tromso want tickets for the United match, but the ticket office told them where to go, because they're not on the data base.

Well Southampton’s 3 points on Saturday against Rovers, thanks to Beatties controversial last minute penalty didn’t do Paul Sturrock much good, as today he became the first premier league managerial casualty of the season. As for the perpetuator of the dubious penalty, refereee Andy D’Urso, has been charged by the FA after he failed to send off Barry Ferguson, despite issuing two yellow cards. The FA will adjudicate whether D'Urso is guilty of "less than proficiently applying the laws of the game". However the FA have already ruled that Ferguson will serve a one-match ban and will miss the away game against Arsenal on Wednesday.

I wish people would check the translation, Rovers arent negociating for MGP That said Im not to impressed with what they are trying to buy. To old in my opinion, its going to take a lot of work before we see any return for our money. LINK MGB

Squads for Tomorrow -
I prefer to watch netball

With Arsenal, Manchester United, to face next week, followed by a trip to Newcastle, failure to pick up at least one point tomorrow against Southamton at St Marys, could see Rovers going into September, firmly anchored to the foot of the table. Times are not easy either for Saints manager Paul Sturrock whose position is under review after failing to win a game since April. This is therefore vital game for both managers, not helped by the fact that they will come under close scrutiny from the armchair pundits, in front of the Sky tv cameras tomorrow. Kick-off 12.45. After a run out in the reserves Wednesday night Rovers, Lucas Neill is likely to return at right back however David Thompson is still not fully recovered despite a run out in the reserves mid week. Southampton may also have Rovers old boy James Beattie available for tomorrow’s game after he missed their first game of the season against Villa with a thigh strain. Southampton (from): Niemi, Dodd, Lundekvam, Higginbotham, Le Saux, Fernandes, Delap, A Svensson, Nilsson, Phillips, Crouch, Ormerod, Folly, Prutton, Kenton, Beattie, Telfer, Best, Smith. Rovers (from): Friedel, Amoruso, Short, Gresko, Emerton, Neill, Gray, Tugay, Ferguson, de Pedro, Flitcroft, Stead, Yorke, Matteo, Johansson, Gallagher, Dickov, Enckelman. Well you've got to feel some sympathy for Saints fans, after years in the wilderness, when their main claim to fame was acting as a feeder club to Rovers, Gordon Strachan revived the club, getting to the Cup Final and they even venturing into Europe. Now once again it appears that they are becoming another of those also ran teams, not helped by having an apprentice Premier League manager who according to some press reports has just six games to prove himself. Transfer speculation regarding Blackburn old boy, James Beattie can't be helping Sturrock's cause and must be also unsettling for the team. With one of the best keepers, Niemi, it's a strange statistic that the Saints haven't managed a clean sheet in nine Premiership games. So the signs should indicate a happy day for the Rovers. The worrying factor is that Sturrock's run, of no wins since beating Man City last April and with Rovers record of only one Premiership away win at Southampton, his luck has to change sometime. The big question is, will Souness kick off with the formation and team that started against the Albion last Saturday. Or will he be more adventurous, show no sympathy for his fellow countryman, to go for an attacking line up, to gain that "WOOW" factor and some confidence before meeting Arsenal and Man Utd next week. At least we do have Lucas Neill available this week at right back, instead of the elusive Butterfly, which should give us a better balance down the right hand side. To think if Souness's reported enquiry to Newcastle two weeks ago had been successful we could have lined up against the Saints with one of their old boys Shearer leading the attack. Prediction tight game and a 1-0 win to Rovers. -
Rovers gained a valuable away point against Sunderland this evening thanks to a second half equaliser by David Thompson. Sunderland took the lead through Kingsberry in the first half after Sunderlands Wanless was brought down by Alex Bruce. Sunderland were kept in the game by keeper Alnwick and Rovers were unlucky not to win the game when a Matt Jansen shot hit the post.

After serious concideration, apologies to my mate Tim. but Ive gone with Roger Jones. Cant remember him making a blunder, like other keepers that weve had at Rovers. Didnt miss a game in the 74-75 season. 54 games - keeping 19 clean sheets. and he didnt exactly have the best defence in front of him.
-
Oi dont blame Crawford, Im sure someone can find some way to blame Souness for the defeat against Bolton.

This may help. Roger Jones 1970 - 1976 Appearances 277 Honours at Ewood. Third Div Championship 1975. height 5-11 Although not the tallest of keepers he had natural athleticism performing world class saves. He dominated his area and his judgement of crosses was impeccable. Ever present during the third div championship season. Moved from Ewood to 1st div Newcastle. Mike Jackman in his book writes that if Jones hadnt spent most of his career at Ewood may have progressed to full international level. Terry Gennoe 1981-1992 retired through injuery holds record for goal keeping appearances at Rovers 334, Voted PFA second div keeper 1984-85 season. missed ful members cup due to injury. Athletic and agile dominated his area and very brave. Good at crosses. Tim Flower 1993-1999 11 england caps championship winning keeper who can forget ve day

Rovers are reported to have invited Nigerian international striker Peter Odemwingie for a second trial. Rovers are understood to have already told his Belgian club La Louviere how much they are prepared to pay for the striker who would require a work permit if he is offered a deal. Rovers chief executive John WiIliams told This is Lancashire "Peter came over and he's certainly done enough for us to want to see him again. "We've made an indicative offer to his club, subject to him impressing sufficiently in his second trial. But there's not been any conversation about personal terms, it's just a continuation to judge him."

Sorry FLB, I didnt make myself clear regarding Blacklaw and Bradshaw. Blacklaw didnt gain any international honours whilst at Ewood, the only caps he got, 3, I believe, were when he played for Bumley. Paul Bradshaw the gentle giant, may have got an U21 cap whilst at Rovers, before he moved to Wolves. Bradshaw just a raw kid, was thrown in at the deep end in 1976 when Roger Jones moved to Newcastle. and his performances between the sticks ensured that he was quickly bought by Wolves two season later, for quite a substancial fee in them days for a keeper. John Butcher took over in goal from Bradshaw. ps Wolves were in the 1st (now prem league) and rovers were in the 2nd.

Blacklaw and Bradshaw were never full internationals to my knowledge.
