This site is a victim of its own success, due to our bandwidth and hit count it is affecting the server, resulting in a slower service. We are hoping to implement something to keep the site opperational to the standards that we have aspired to, however it does cost money. This site is funded almost entirely by donations from visitors to the site, it is run as a non-profit making venture and none of the administrators or moderators are paid. As the site gets busier each day our bill for the bandwidth grows also and the need for your donations become greater. We ask only that you give what you can afford and we have no plans to make the site a subscription based service, but without regular injections of cash from our visitors the site would soon cease to exist. We welcome all donations, large or small. Please visit our sponsors, in most cases when you purchase something after clicking on one of our advertisers adverts the site receives a small percentage of the cost of your purchase. We'd also like to hear from anyone wishing to purchase advertising space on the site, sponsor an area of the site, provide sponsored hosting or that can help in any other way. Rovers are understood to be giving a trial to Diego Maradona's teenage son. Diego Maradona junior who is currently playing at his father's former club Napoli. Blackburn manager Greame Souness is quoted as telling BBC Sport: "I've got a contact in Napoli and we've heard he's a good player so he's coming over.

Firstly let me say Im not shooting the messenger, You been reading the chip wrapper paper in the loo again Bob. Thats the year ending June 2003 figures. Did it also state that Rovers made an opperating profit for that year ? Accounts for Year ending June 2004 wont be available until around December. January. I fear the figures could be worste.

Blackburn boss Graeme Souness has left Andy Cole, Dwight Yorke and Andy Todd out of his squad for a pre-season tournament. (The Independent)

Agree with you there den. If that is the case its a disgrace and shows the lack of man management by certain parties at Ewood. Souness may be right in appointing Fergie as captain, but he should have had the decency to tell Flitcroft that he was loosing the arm band. Personaly I could accept if part of my job or my responsibilities was given to someone else, but if I wasnt informed and heard it on the office grape vine I'd be p ## off. and more that likely have some choice words with my manager.

Sorry I've got to say - This topic is really annoying me ever since someone mentioned a chant for Matteo. Every time I log into the site now I see Matteo SINGS When he makes his debut at Ewood I'm now half expecting him to stand in the centre circle and start off the community singing. Then at half time nick the mike off Beamo to sing "I did it my way"

A moving post tris, and a reminder to us all how easy it is to forget events. Although not to the scale of Hillsborough, I wonder how many members of this board are aware of a disaster that effected Rovers supporters and how would they have felt if the media had hiped up the event to sell papers. For those unaware of Rovers history. In 1952 after an away fixture at Bury, a railway station bridge carrying supporters collapsed. My father in law who was at the game told me of the event, yet sadly the only brief description of events I have ever come across was :- Extracted from Charles Lambert's The Club that Jack Built "Thousands had made the same journey, and were now queuing in good natured chaos to get into Bury's Knowsley Street station for the return journey. Around 200 supporters were on the station footbridge, with more waiting noisily, when the sheer weight of people proved to much." "Amid hideous shrieks, the edifice crumbled into a heap of dust, masonary and metal. Scores of people fell with it, tumbling onto the the rubble and train tracks below" "In all 175 people required treatment and a 66 year old Rovers fan named William Moses died" One of the men who was at the end of the bridge and who helped in rescue was Jack Walker.

I believe to a point you've hit the nail on the head there. Bearing in mind the way that Souness played, I cant for the life of me understand the lack of passion shown by his players. I fear that to many of the squad are mercenaries, their only concern being how much money they pick up at the end of each week. OK thats what everyones aim is to pick up as much pay as possible, however in the real world that we work in, if we didn't perform, our employers would quickly show us the door. Maybe Souness has recognized the fact that a large per centage of his players are fat cats with heavy pay packets and they aren't hungry for success and these factors have been instrumental in why he signed the likes of Dickov and Mateo, players who may not be world class but play with commitment and passion. In my opinion, Steads rise to fame at Ewood has been down to his hunger to succeed. He has become a fans favorite not just because of his goals but also his willingness to chase for the ball. -

Regrettably Paul, I failed as a parent, only my daughter is a Roverite. Despite all the family blackmailing and punishment I have had to accept that my son had no taste. I suspect the cause being that we moved from the Blackburn area, when he was young. Which brings me back to your comment regarding going away to Uni. As the younger element move away due to Uni or in search of employment a lot whilst still Roverites at heart will pledge allegiance to a more local club. Who in their right mind would make 200 mile pilgrimages to Ewood when their friends and work colleges are watching clubs on the doorstep. -

It would be interesting to establish the age group of the supporters that dont renew their season tickets. Prior to the glory days we had in the region of 7-8000 gates, then with the Jack Walker period gates shot up. There must have been a percentage of these that were youngster who 9 years on have new priorities, eg off to university or families to support. -
Fit again midfielders Barry Ferguson and David Thompson, will be aiming to regain automatic first team selection when they embark on Rovers pre-season visit to Germany next week. Rovers kick of the tour with a game against SG Schorndorf on Friday 16th July, before they become involved in a mini four team tournament at Reutlingen, on the 20th July. Rovers will play SSV Reutlingen 05; and the winners will meet either SSV Ulm or the Albanian National side. The winners of the Reutlingen Tournament going on to play the winners of a similar Tournament, involving, Bohemians Prague, FC Erzgebirge Aue, SpVgg Weiden and David Dunn's Birmingham City. The game involving the finalists of each tournament will take place on Friday 23rd July.

A lot of our supporters should remember the plight of Leeds, when the complain that John Williams and the board dont spend big money on transfers. Something that we tend to forget, that not only did Jack Walker rebuild the club, he as a successful businessman appointed the right people people. Whilst the publicity was regarding the appointment of Kenny, no recognition was given to the fact that Jack appointed the clubs first chief executive John Williams, from Granada.

According to the CALENDAR season tickets should have started going out yesterday. I wonder how long it will be before one arrives on the door mat and who will be the first messageboard member to post, that theyve recieved their season ticket. -
Classic point, a serious discussion on how to make the messageboard better. Name and shame. first nomination Tom. Yes as previously said it's the close season with nothing to chat about. Personaly I like to treat the messageboard as others have said, if it were a tap room, full of varied discussions, if the topic isnt of interest to me then just as if I was in the pub I dont join in. In a pub situation an off topic 1 liner doesnt offen go down well and the perpretator if often treated with distain. My biggest grip is people who cant be bothered to read the message board before posting. They either repeat previous posts or even start new threads.

Following the publication of Sky's tv coverage, Rovers away game against Arsenal has been put back 24 hour to Wednesday 25th August, ko 7.45. This is due to Arsenal's game with Middlesborough, now being played on Sunday 22nd August, in front of the Sky cameras.
-
With Sky now showing 2 live games on a Saturday, it is bound to effect gates, not just at Rovers. Why are people going to spend money on tickets and travel to a game when they can be entertained in the comfort of their own home or local pub for a fraction of the cost. Looking at the economics. For £396 (£33 per month) you get the full sky sports package. For £385 (loyalty discount- £20per game approx) you get a season ticket 19 home games, although 4 of those games have already been being scheduled to be shown on sky, 2 of which are ppv. Personaly I cant see the point of paying twice for the same event. Therefore Sky subscription cancelled.
