Pre-Season Dublin Trip Rovers are to repeat last summer's warm up to the season with a trip to Dublin, for a fixture again Bray Wanderers. The game will take place on Saturday the 7th August. ko 7.45pm. Date is a correction to yesterdays report in the LET LINK TO OFFICIAL SITE

If we perform anywhere near to last season, Sky will find it difficult to find 50min highlights. To be serious, showing nearly an hour of a game on a Saturday night, in my opinion will kill attendances for a lot of clubs. Apart from the atmosphere, non existent in some grounds, Why spend £20 plus for a ticket, and travel through inclement weather when you can watch most of the game at home. Only hard core supporters and Skyless viewers are going to bother turning up at the ground.

Presuming that you dont have a family and morgage to support first.

I havent got all the answers, if I did I'd patent it. What I would suggest is that the loss of star players who entertained the public, didnt help.

The problem is CLB, that the majority of members of this board are die hard Rovers supporters, who would whenever possible buy a season ticket, even if Rovers were in the second or whatever they call it now. In my opinion, the only way Rovers are going to entice the wavering public, is with success on the field.

And if the quality of service and product wasnt up to the mark, wouldnt you go and spend your money elsewhere. The customer is going to sit at home, if the entertainment isnt up to the standard expected.

Well said tonygreenbank. Because someone is fortunate enough to be able to afford a season ticket doesnt mean they are a better fan than someone who pays at the gate. I also have to agree with Abbey, people even though they support the Rovers, they still want value for their money and want to be entertained. Can anyone honestly say we were entertained last season. Souness's continued comments each season about premiership survival is the main aim, doesnt inspire confidence or season ticket sales. Wouldnt it be better if he was to state, Our aim is to finish as high as possible and have a good cup run. Or is that asking a bit to much. Come hell or high water, (whatever that means) there will be a hard core who will renew season tickets, but unless there is continued success on the playing field, even with £10 per game, Rovers will not increase their ticket sales or fan base. Fair weather supporters, only want to be associated with a successful team. Season ticket sales will be down due to last seasons lack of entertainment / success at Ewood, lack of passion by the players for a large proportion of the season and the failure during the summer to make any exciting transfer signings. (Hopefully the new winger will prove me wrong on that account.) Rovers only hope is that the season starts well and are riding high when half season tickets go on sale around christmas.

Following yesterday's news that Scotish International midfielder, Barry Ferguson is ready to resume training with the first team, when they return for pre-season training; the Lancashire Evening Telegraph are reporting that Ferguson will be the new team captain.

Rumours emanating from around Ewood would suggest that manager Graeme Souness will have at lease 3 further players available in addition to summer signings, striker Paul Dickov and left winger Javier De Pedro, when pre season training commences. Coming on the back of news that Douglas and Tugay have signed new contract extensions Rovers manager Graeme Souness has been boosted by the news that long time injury casualties, Scotland Captain Barry Ferguson, midfielder David Thompson and defender Jay McEverley, will be available, when the squad return for pre season training on the 7th July. Rovers are also reported to be continuing with negotiations regarding the signing of former Scottish defender Dominic Matteo, from Leeds United.

News Item by den. After 12 months of being without a natural left sided midfielder, Blackburn Rovers have signed Javier De Pedro on a two year contract. As soon as he became available, Graeme Souness put him to the top of his wanted list, in the process dropping his interest in Morten Gamst Pedersen. The Lancashire Evening Telegraph are reporting that Rovers hope to negociate a pre season friendly with Sporting Lisbon at Ewood on Wednesday 4th August as a curtain raiser to the 2004-05 season. This follows the news that Rovers will start their pre season with a number of games in Germany. Blackburn's Chief executive John Williams has told the LET: "It's not confirmed but we are working on it and we've exchanged conversation with Sporting Lisbon, so it's a strong possibility.

Scotty, I know you watched most of the games, excellent reports, but your memory is going. Apart from the first game of the season against Wolves we didnt win another home game untill November, and during that spell we had one away win at Portsmouth.

Republic of Ireland International, Jonathon Douglas has signed a new contract that will keep him at Rovers for a further 3 years. It also appears that last seasons player of year Tugay will extend his career at Ewood for another season. Whilst the senior professionals are negociating new contracts, 18 year old academy player Andy Taylor this week signed professional forms with club.
