Blackburn manager Graeme Souness is reported to giving Romanian international striker Adrian Ilie a trial with the club. Nicknamed 'The Cobra', Ilie made his Romanian debut back in 1993. and is currently out of contract. As well as being prolific in front of goal, skilful and renowned for his spectacular efforts, Ilie can also play as an attacking midfielder. Date of birth: April 22, 1974 Prev. clubs: CSS Universitatea Craiova,Electroputere Craiova, Steaua Bucarest, Galatasaray, Valencia. Recently he has been lnked with Scottish clubs Dundee and Rangers. Agent Willie McKay is reported to have told skysports.com that the 29-year-old was training with Rovers. "Adrian is in England at the minute and he watched the Blackburn game at Manchester United on Saturday," he said. "He will train with the club so that they can assess his fitness and I am confident a deal will be done. "He has had chances to go to other clubs after leaving Alaves, but he feels ready to test himself in England. He is a proven player with a great pedigree having played with Valencia and Galatasaray."
  6. A spirited second half fightback by Blackburn was not enough, as they went down 2-1 to United at Old Trafford this afternoon. On the half hour the Rovers defence failed to intercept a through ball by Fortune who put van Nistelrooy through, to beat Friedel at the near post. With half-time approaching a move that involved Ruud van Nistelrooy and Quinton Fortune lead to Kleberson stroking the ball past Friedel in to the back of the net. HALF TIME 2-0 At the start of the second half Blackburn made two substitutions. Bringing on Gallagher and Johansson for Jansen and Reid. Within 20 minutes of the restart, Gallagher slid the ball through to allow Brett Emerton through for a one to one with Howard, and make no mistake in beating the keeper. FULL TIME 2-1 Man Utd: Howard, Gary Neville, Ferdinand, Silvestre, O'Shea, Kleberson, Keane, Phil Neville, Fortune(Giggs84), Bellion,(Ronaldo72) van Nistelrooy(Forlan.88). 12. How can the aussies say England are boring with their kicking. Isnt aussie rules about kicking a ball between 4 posts.
  13. Story in tomorrow's papers saying the Rovers' English and Aussie players have been enjoying a bit of banter this week and will be glued to the telly for the match. To judge from some of the quotes, Neill sounds a real pain in the arse. I'm surprised he has so much to say the way he has been playing this season. Meanwhile Brad is trying to figure out why they arent padded up, and wearing helmets.
  14. United have an injury worry with Gary Neville, who aggravated his Achilles tendon whilst on international duty last Sunday.
  15. With Andy Cole and Lucas Neill suspended and David Thompson and Grabbi injured, Blackburn manager Graeme Souness has named a squad of 17 players for tomorrows game at Old Trafford against Manchester United. With Neill missing Souness must decide whether he reshuffles the defence to bring Short back in to the centre of defence after injury and move Babbel to right back, or whether to retain the starting line up that beat Everton, slotting Taylor in at right back. Leaving Reid to continue out wide on the right midfield, with Emerton on the left and Ferguson and Flitcroft in the middle. Up front with Yorke passed fit, will Souness gamble on youngster Gallagher or the experienced Jansen as Yorke's striking partner. Squad. Friedel, Taylor, Babbel, Todd, Gresko, Reid, Flitcroft, Ferguson, Emerton, Yorke, Jansen, Enckelman, Short, Johansson, Baggio, Tugay and Gallagher. Why not read the fans forum to see what the supporters predict as the starting line up. Man U Preview Link

  18. In a competative game a draw was a fair result, with Johnson, Douglas, Johansson and Enckelman being Rovers star performers. Enckelman who commanding his area, at one point made a triple save to gain applause from the spectators and the whole team. Rovers : Enckelman, Peers, Morgan, Harkins, Johansson, McEveley, Donnelly, Danns, Johnson, Douglas, Nelson. Subs: Michael Taylor, Renton, Watt, Andy Taylor, Barker, Drench.

  21. Not the Garner and Barker of the 70's and 80's but the new generation, Joe Garner and Keith Barker. Following their 4-0 win against Everton, when Barker scored two, Blackburn's U17 beat Crewe 5-4 tonight with two goals each from Barker and Garner and one from Joel Byrom. 22. Ciccio Grabbi, is also reported to be heading to Italy for a operation. The £7m striker who has under achieved since joining the club is reported to needs surgery on a toe injury.
  23. Early speculation on this web site regarding the fitness of Blackburn midfielder David Thompson would appear true, with reports in the media now indicating that Thompson will see a specialist next week regarding a knee problem. Thompson had an opperation on his knee last February, that kept him out for the remainder of last season and although initially it was believed that he had overcome the problem his knee is still causing him discomfort after games. Prior to his suspension, Thompson had started most games for Rovers this season, but due to continued discomfort, it is now being reported that he will be flying to America next week to see the specialist who has also treated Shearer, Jamie Redknapp, Steven Gerrard and Craig Bellamy, for a similar problem.
