  1. Just listened to his podcast whilst out on a run - he added nothing just "approach seems to be scattergun, but there will be a flurry of transfers again this week like there was when we signed Gueye et al all in a short period". Didn't add any new names, just ruled out Ruddy as one he'd not heard. Clearly he's not plugged in.
  2. He definitely has more options in attack with Gueye, Yuki and Weimann. It's still nowhere near enough, but it's more.
  3. It's an opportunity to blood the youngsters, so Duru should definitely start. I think the rest are either on loan, injured, or have gone backwards (Batty I'm looking at you) so it should be an opportunity for squad rotation. There's no money in the Carabao Cup until the later rounds and, quite frankly, with our tiny squad we shouldn't be adding more games to our schedule.
  4. Ruddy is better than Pears - however we've just banked £40m, we should be aiming for much better than a GK that's happy to retire on Newcastle's bench.
  5. Wigan can ask for whatever they want - they have a billionaire owner. Granted, he wants Wigan Athletic to wash it's own face because he only bought them to get his hands on the stadium for his Rugby League team, but still...
  6. Unless it's not a cheap punt and those wages tied up in Germain are then taken away from a player he actually wants. He's said multiple times that he wants 4+ players in that will all start (or at least massively improve the bench). Maybe he just sees Germain as a bench filler and that role can be taken by our two Academy prospects instead?
  7. Fun fact - Transfermarkt has the Birmingham City squad as having a higher overall value than the Blackburn Rovers squad.
  8. It isn't his job, but he can also do exactly what JDT did with Telalovic and refuse to play him.
  9. Someone just paid £1m for Wahlstedt. Nobody is giving us £1m for Calamity Pears.
  10. We had a Chilean superstar for 18 months and did nothing with it. I wouldn't worry about the marketing with these guys in charge.
  11. I've just realised the Sigurdsson goal was almost a carbon copy of the Hedges goal at Norwich - ball played in to Sigurdsson / Hedges in the middle of the field on the break, they lay it off to Gueye who carries it upfield and then puts them through for the goal.
  12. I don't think Gueye's shooting is good enough for the Prem, but he causes chaos in their back line when he comes on. A real gem of a find.
  13. He was in twice with better passes (both, ironically, by Dolan) and nearly nicked in at the far post from the Wiemann flick on. I think he's like Watkins as a #9 - will run the channels all day, but you can't really play it up to him and expect him to hold it up. If we surrounded him with pace he'd look much better as the #9 because his positioning is exceptional (for this level).
  14. Out of him and Rushworth I'd much prefer Rushworth. It's pathetic we're dealing in loans though. Absolutely criminal.
  15. They've sold a few of their better players this summer - but yeah, they need to just look ten miles down the road to see a light squad.
  16. The problem with Pears is that he has zero credit in the bank - he's very much in the red - so when he concedes a shot from 35 yards out you just shrug your shoulders and say "yeah maybe a better GK saves it, but it's not technically a mistake".
  17. I think Eustace sees the writing on the wall and realises he's not going to get what we clearly need.
  18. To be fair if the recruitment team can pull out more gems like Yuki and Gueye, Eustace will simply have to get back in his box.
  19. If we don't bring reinforcements in quickly it's getting to the point where you have to start both of them.
  20. He provides the team with a focal point and an outlet. The ball sticks to him, he wins headers and lets the CBs know they're in a game. Another assist for him today too.
  21. Strangely the complete opposite of JDT - despite JDT being a hard task master (and improving several players as footballers) and Eustace appearing to be a bit more 'pally' with the players. We never came from behind under JDT and our subs often did nothing.
  22. He's very poor defensively and he's slow, which is why we should play him as a #10 behind Gueye.
