  1. No, we need to clear out the mammoth wages of McFadzean, Markanday, Garrett and O'Riordan before we can possibly afford anyone.
  2. I thought he was really, really poor for us. Surprisingly so. Still I'm jealous that everyone else is signing players and we're keeping our powder dry.
  3. I suspect those scouting him, if they know football, will simply send back an incomplete report. "He has nobody to pass to in advanced positions".
  4. It's 4 months of wage contributions + loan fees for players that won't be here next year. That'll be a significant outlay. The automatics are locked up and Sunderland and Burnley look very, very good. Rather than chasing a pipe dream of promotion we should be building for the future - both continued success on the field and financial success off it i.e. prospects that we can sell on. I'd still fancy us to finish 5th or 6th with the right permanent signings - we're never catching the automatic teams - and then it's a lottery in the Playoffs. Only it's a lottery where you're playing with your own players and aren't back at square one in August 2025.
  5. So the club should be spaffing this £40m transfer windfall on loans? Seems sustainable.
  6. Why? People have enquired about buying Rovers. They're always told no. There's clearly a deep, dark secret buried at Ewood Park that they don't want to reveal. What other reason could they have to hold on to this money pit?
  7. Nixon now linking Hull with O'Brien. LOL
  8. I honestly think our only hope is if the Indian govt absolutely crush them in this fraud case and force them to sell us. Otherwise they can keep kicking the can down the road forever - they have the money to do so.
  9. Another 20 year old kid we have no hope of buying. Doesn't look fast either - is he a CM? CAM?
  10. There's definitely a magical money tree up in the North East.
  11. The talk about "having to let people go to buy" is terrifying. O'Riordan, McFadzean, Garrett, Markanday. I bet their wages don't even cover one of the Leeds' players wages, yet we're we have to shift them on to create any wiggle room.
  12. He was lined up to sign for us on loan in the summer, but they couldn't get the Nelson deal over the line in time (they eventually signed him) so held onto Godo just in case.
  13. Even if we were flying right now we wouldn't be able to compete with that transfer business. Burnley must be shitting themselves - Leeds and Sheffield Utd are going to be out of sight.
  14. BBD and Cannon (and three more to an already strong squad). It's just unfair really isn't it? Parachute payments have ruined the Championship.
  15. *placate what's left of the Rovers fan base. Most walked away years ago.
  16. I hate that the Transfer Thread has devolved to this - but he's done an excellent job at two basket case clubs. He'd walk into another Championship job. Cardiff are another basket case club btw. Career progression after Rovers (and Birmingham) is a club where the owners aren't actively working against you.
  17. That is LITERALLY the market we're in. We have buttons to spend so we have to snatch good young players from the lower leagues (and abroad) and hope they can step up. We evidently can't compete for with our fellow Championship teams for actual paid transfers. The team we've put out this season is absolutely pitiful in terms of investment.
  18. Another one? We sold Szmodics for AT LEAST three times what we paid for him and he kept us up last year; Brittain and Hyam are mainstays in an excellent back 4; and Tronstad is literally our best player. The narrative on here at times is baffling. I hope he gets games and starts developing, he's been hard done to at Cambridge.
  19. They bought a very good Championship side this summer. They were always destined to struggle in the Premier League.
  20. It's mostly the international breaks wiping out multiple weekends - and the large size of the Championship. You have to play far too many games - it really is a grind of a season.
  21. Not looking forward to this one. No reinforcements in January, a rash of injuries and playing our bogey team.
  22. He looked ok up until half time (a few timely tackles and ticked the ball over with short passes) - which is what I think he was signed for, a 20 minute man off the bench to give Travis / Tronstad a rest. He couldn't keep up with the pace of the game in the second half and was a complete liability.
