  1. Playing him on the right, where he's shone for the whole of this season. Say Reid and Savage startin the season in central midfield, that gives Bentley much more freedom to attack the opposition - they're both athletic players who cover a lot of ground (more so than Tugay and Mokoena do).
  2. Why does everyone bring up the jealously aspect when it comes to local players - it's been thrown around with Dunn for years. The simple fact of the matter is, whilst Derbyshire has the potential to be a good player (as you say, a good footballing brain and a bit of pace - though nothing exceptional), he's far from world class (he's too lightweight, has a shocking first touch and his finishing leaves something to be desired). If he works at it he's going to be a good Premiership striker. That'd be a great return from an academy player.
  3. That's a silly post, Bob. Everyone is delighted that two of our young, English, players have succeeded on the international level. I think it's safe to say everyone is extremely pleased with their contribution to Rovers this season, and proud that they've represented their country whilst playing for us. That said, when people come out with statements like the one about Derbyshire, they have to be challenged. World class, especially at such a young age, is people like Messi, Ronaldo et al. There's nothing to say Sir Matthew Derbyshire of Ewood (or whatever he's called) can't become an extremely useful Premiership player, but he certainly lacks that touch of genius that all world class players have.
  4. My friend can't stand Steve Claridge. I just find it amusing that he's EVERYWHERE.
  5. No chance, mate. He'll probably make himself into a serviceable Premiership striker, but he's never going to be world class.
  6. He does look like he owns a few tank tops. Beyond that, you have me at a loss.
  7. Technically it was Ferdinand. I kid. Bentley's destined for bigger things than Rovers I feel. Great player.
  8. Pretty sure Bentley and Dunn were both had for less than £1m each. I agree though, he's done well in the transfer market.
  9. Twas a poor one at that. He clearly needs some lessons from Bentley.
  10. That's bloody cheeky! At 18 he's the best player in their team, from what I can gather. He clearly has a bright future - there's no chance we'd sell him.
  11. No chance Warnock gets selected, despite doing nothing but impressing since his January move. It'll be Neville.
  12. That's a pretty narrow criteria - almost a one man show. For what they are, I enjoy; Raising Arizona, Snake Eyes, Con Air, The Rock and National Treasure. Each to their own I suppose.
  13. Interesting that Lucas Neill did an interview with Sky after the game. I don't recall him ever doing one for us.
  14. Woeful, woeful defending from Wham. They're down now I feel, that loss is going to break their spirit. You can see it in the eyes of the players.
  15. Gotta love Upson. The amount of games he's played for Wham can be counted on one hand. They're pretty unlucky with injuries though - they've had to make three subs today, all forced.
  16. That's pretty harsh, they've been injured all season.
  17. What's that, his third? Looks like he's doing himself proud on this loan move.
  18. Apparently Upson and Neill are sitting in the stands looking bemused. Good times. And Thomas makes it 4!
  19. He provides decent cover for the centre half position, nothing more, nothing less. If everyone is fit he's probably the last centre half to get picked (depending on how good this Samba lad is). Assuming it's not a large contract, I can accept this move by Hughes. I'd much rather have an experienced international back there than a kid from our underachieving academy.
  20. Robbie Savage had a monopoly on any free kicks requiring a right foot. Strange as I've never thought he was that effective with them. Bentley has probably taken over this role with Savage's broken leg. That's a shame as Emerton looks like he could be useful from set pieces.
  21. Erm....Hughes didn't want to sell one of his better players?
