  1. If Spuds are still willing to pay £6-7m I'd snap their hands off.
  2. Hmmm, that site seems unlinkable. Funny stuff though.
  3. I was begging for a double change at half time - Kuqi and Peter on for Dickov and Pedersen. Of course I knew it'd never happen as Hughes likes to give his players a chance to redeem themselves, but that's a different story. I wholeheartedly agree with Shillito, Pedersen has actually been @#/? for most of the season. Obviously the nine goals from midfield have helped, but what exactly does he do for the team other than that? He contributes absolutely nothing going forward these days - the amount of times he hits his cross/pass into a defender is beyond a joke, and his complete lack of pace really doesn't help his cause. His redeeming feature, apparently, is his set piece play - it's just a shame he shoots at every chance he gets, including corners, and wastes a good majority of them. I'm sure he'd be great in a side that could afford to carry him, but unfortunately we aren't capable of that. All 11 men need to contribute, which hasn't happened enough for my liking this season. With a pairing of Savage and Reid, our attacking play is pretty much reliant on the wide men and any strokes of genius Bellamy can provide. I think most people in the ground realised yesterday that if Liverpool wanted to they could shut up shop with little problem - which is why their gift is so hard to take. If we are to progress as a side then we need to find a place for Bentley (as he is one of the few players in our squad capable of playing a defence splitting pass), or bring in two wingers who can actually beat their man.
  4. It's a damn sight better than our Japanese, love Hope you enjoy your stay
  5. Have I missed something, when did we play Liverpool? That was Bolton, wasn't it? Long balls, deep defending, negative play, cynical fouls - that's the MO of the Wanderers.
  6. Well that's six points the MIB have gifted to Liverpool this season - where's this evening out then?
  7. That's what I thought too, he looked quite threatening when he had the ball at his feet. It's just a shame he was forced to produce the perfect ball or watch it gobbled up by a resolute Liverpool defence. Twelve against nine is right, however, though Dickov and Pedersen would be the two I'd single out as being a waste of space.
  8. Nice save by Toure there - when the luck's with you, and all that jazz
  9. Right, just need a United win and my accumulator is complete
  10. Judging by the highlights we got absolutely dicked on
  11. We're still several players away from a quality team, though we've done well to get this far. Credit goes to Hughes.
  12. We'd struggle to field a team for half the season
  13. I was shocked when Hughes picked the same team for this game - Bentley isn't a right winger so unless you manufacture a crossing opportunity for him, he's not going to put any balls into the box, he's also a liability defensively. Pedersen is up to his usual tricks, he'll probably score again today (hopefully) but otherwise he's non-existant. Dickov was pants on Monday and it sounds like he's pants again....so basically we're playing with eight men, depending on the situation. Personally I'd have put Emerton in for Bentley at the start because, for all his faults, he puts himself around. Kuqi would have started for Dickov too, but that wouldn't have been too popular
  14. And pass the ball straight into Filan's hands from close range. Bellamy was rubbish last night, Wigan did their homework on him.
  15. Let's put it this way, if Bellamy could finish Kuqi would have had a goal and an assist in about half an hour last night - can't ask for much more than that.
  16. I'd say that was a very dissapointing result, but I guessed it was coming. We caught Wigan at a good time at New Years, they were pretty much exhausted, which negates their style of play. On the balance of it we deserved to lose that game, we created nothing and struggled with their set pieces. I could go on about how poor certain people played, but I won't. On the plus side a point is a point and Kuqi scored another goal (no swan dive tonight though ). The referee lost control of that game early on, allowing Wigan to pretty much foul at will without fear of punishment. We're clearly three or four starting players from being a perennial European team, hopefully Sparky is given the funds to go out and get them.
  17. Jesus I feel sorry for the club - quite frankly our fans are a bunch of tw_ts. All they do is b!tch and moan about quality of football, fixture times, ticket prices, concession prices, atmosphere etc, etc. I don't know why the club even bothers, they simply can't win.
  18. I think the picture has been cleared up somewhat today, it's between us and L'Arse. Spurs have been wobbling for a few games now and they've been on the end of a thrashing today, that can't be good for confidence. Bolton are pretty much out of it I feel, they've got a very tough run in. I feel we're somehow going to have to get something out of the Chelski and Liverpool games, which is a very tough ask. Still at worst Europe looks likely
  19. I'm still behind the Rovers, obviously, but it's a worrying run of form they've put together. The United game will be the big test for them - are they just steamrolling poor sides? Time will tell. As for Rovers, the Wigan game is a big test for us - we need to win it, no if, buts or maybes. I've not been impressed with our play of late (impressed with the results, but not the performances), but if we can get past Wigan with our CL bid unscathed then we've got as good a chance as anyone I suppose. Chelski look wobbly, shame we're not playing them anytime soon eh?
