  1. Slight difference between League 2/Division 3 and the Prem, but obviously his scoring goals for fun is promising. According to the Wrexham fans he's lightning quick, finishes well and works hard - a class above the rest of the players at the club. I've not seen enough of him to judge whether he's found his level, or if he can continue to score goals higher up the leagues - hopefully he can because we need a quick striker, and more importantly an Academy player to break through into the first team (Peter is coming through, but he's not quite there yet). I'll leave that up to the coaching staff/fans who turn out for reserve games to comment on
  2. I'd rather make certain we pick up the three points thanks.
  3. Hence my 'we're one injury away from slipping out of this chase for Europe' post
  4. If Henry bothers to turn up that is - such a one man team.
  5. Theno's not going to be happy until the overseas supporters buy a block of seats, rename them, donate the tickets to underprivileged Rovers youngsters, put on a mini-bus, buy them all the latest kits etc, etc......
  6. I honestly see Bolton challenging for the Champs League - whilst their football is @#/? and 'plays the percentages' (i.e you're going to eventually put one knockdown/goalmouth scramble away) few teams can handle them. We're one of them I feel, but I can see Spurs, Utd, Chelski and Liverpool struggling with them. Not to say they'll beat them all, but I'm not marking it down as an automatic loss. If anybody's going to lose out it's us - we're one injury away from falling out of contention, especially considering how shakey our defence/keeping has been this season.
  7. Do you have any idea of the percentage of increase in price for next year?
  8. You're missing an asterisk there - when healthy. Friedel's going downhill quite rapidly, but he's still better than anybody else we'll probably get, which just goes to show how good he used to be!
  9. Just watching MOTD, Butt has handled the ball pretty much on the goalline. Very similar incident to Savage (though nowhere near as threatening); one gets a second yellow, the other a corner - such inconsistency.....and people wonder why referees are abused.
  10. They were backed up into a tight spot though, in all honesty. I'd have prefered we stand up for ourselves and refuse to reschedule the game, but the amount of bad publicity this would have caused probably wasn't worth the hassle. This is especially so considering we are quite able to move the fixture without too many problems.
  11. They should donate their SKY fee to a worthy cause, Rovers' coffers - and I'm deadly serious!
  12. Believe me, they're not missing out on much, the Jack Walker upper isn't what it's cracked up to be!
  13. Speaking of which, rumour has it Henry has verbally agreed to join Barca. Now whilst that's bad for the Prem as a whole, it'd be great news for the ever improving Rovers, what with L'Arse being a one man team and all
  14. I can't see how people are calling this a banana skin, Boro have a high quality squad (when fit!). They also have something that we dream about, three strikers who can score goals - which could very well be the difference on Saturday. Our defence has been shakey at best of late, this is one of the last teams I'd have matched them up against in their current state. We'll be lucky to get a win I feel, a draw would be a decent result though.
  15. Does that mean that moving it to Sunday has lost the club £160k in TV money?
  16. We should flat out refuse to move the fixture again, they've shown no concideration to Blackburn and we should return the favour.
  17. Well he's got at least £3m in the bank right now, if that counts.
  18. Do you have a spare £10m in your back pocket?
  19. Steven Gerrard is a banker. Not a good weekend for Rovers with Bolton and L'Arse winning.
  20. Wow, we were the polar opposite of the team that turned out at White Hart lane, despite only one change (Gamst for Emerton). If anything this clearly highlights just how inconsistant our team is, which is why we'll struggle to hold onto that European place. Hughes has managed to massively overachieve with this squad through confidence tricks, fitness gurus and fantastic coaching (defensively, offensively and technically), it'll be a joy to watch him manage a talented side over the next few seasons when he brings in his own players. As for the game, the only player who comes out of it with praise from me is Savage. He ran his socks off and never gave their midfield a minute of rest, and his distribution was also pretty good. I've been saying it for a while now, Bentley isn't a central midfielder, he lacks the drive, build, fitness or determination to play at the heart of the team. You could tell in his reaction to being subbed how craply he knew he'd played. Whatever I feel about Reid, he's clearly a more competant central midfielder and provides the backbone we need to structure our attacks and defence around. Elsewhere, the defence was shocking. Nelsen and Todd were turned far too often for my liking, even though Nelsen comes out with credit for the season saving tackle (as Philipl suggests) and sprinting back to put Baros off when he was through on goal. I'm unsure if it was a tactical error , or poor game planning, but we struggled to cope with their front three of Moore, Baros and Phillips. I though Gray was decent, but Neill was shocking, he was constantly beaten on the back post, such as the header Baros put over (and the Mido goal last week). I love his drive, physicality and commitment, but his positioning is still suspect. The frontline scored, so it's hard to criticise, but they did nothing to impress me. Pongolle was shown up by Dickov, yes Dickov! The difference in control, link up and ability to run the channels was astounding, especially considering how highly touted the young Frenchman is. Still, he's lightning quick, as Ridgewell found out! Bellamy drifted in and out of the game, though he did well to pounce on the rebound. He wasn't helped by our inability to string three passes together (what was with that long ball crap btw?!), but he's our most influential player and should have found a way to make an impact. Finally Friedel, he had a mixed bag to say the least! He made several outstanding saves from Baros, but then countered that by showing embarrasing positional sense. Nelsen saved his blushes with his tackle, but can anyone explain to me what Brad was doing in no-mans land? All in all, retribution for our performance against Spurs. I feel for the Villa fans.....ok that's a lie . Three points is three points, it's turning out to be a great season!
