    Rooney was a grown man at 16. He then player a tremendous amount of senior football for 14 years. Owen's hamstrings went for the same reason - albeit he was a frailer build.

    Giles for me - provides balance to the formation, along with pace and set piece delivery.

    We absolutely needed depth at L and RWB. Those two positions are pivotal to this formation and we only had Nyambe an Pickering who could play there. Everyone else was makeshift at best.
