Personally I think this is a fantastic signing and a real statement of intent from Mowbray. Everything I've seen and read about Brereton suggests he's going to be a good PL player in the future. I'm still not quite sure why he's been made available, but I'm delighted that Mowbray has identified the opportunity and, for once, the Venkys have provided him with the means to acquire him.

It's the cup, who cares? The focus should be on staying in the Championship. -
Well he's only just turned 19. If a PL club signs him they're only going to loan him back out again - he's not good enough at the moment to start for a team up there. If he does well for us this year, as I assume if we're paying £6m he's going to feature heavily, they'll be sniffing around.

I have to turn off whatever media I'm consuming if Danny Murphy is on it. I genuinely can't stand him - not sure if it's the accent, the face, the Robbie Savage mentality of considering himself a past great or the fact that he's a massive hypocrite due to the above.
-
We're going to be lucky to finish mid table this year. I wouldn't worry about the 'top teams' coming to town, those aren't really games we're going to be in.
-
I can, Reading are shit and haven't even tried to attack this half.
-
The team is so much more balanced with Bennett playing CM. It gives the side some legs in the middle for a start!
-
Well you only need to look at Nyambe, he can't possible keep this work rate up.
-
Is it us or them for relegation? Otherwise who cares what Wigan are doing? They're not a rival.
-
Neither CM is. At least not in this system, the midfield is non-existent. Although that's been the case since Tugay retired.
-
What a soft goal to concede. That's always been my worry about survival - the defence is poor.
-
We could buy a new stadium with the shirt sales.
-
We're a nothing club too at this point. Just making up the numbers.
-
What have they won in the last two decades?
-
We're obviously skint. Have been for years. I have a friend who's an Everton fan. It's galling that an absolute nothing club like that is spending £51m on a 21 year old, unproven Brazilian (on top of the countless millions they spent last year) and we can't scrape together a couple of million for a guy who would drastically improve our team.

Strike Back: Vengeance is out next week. Looking forward to that - really enjoyed the first two series. Watched Spartacus: Blood and Sand when it came out, thought it was fantastic. 'Gods of the Arena' was reasonably good too (gave the back story to many of the gladiators). Really can't get in to Spartacus: Vengeance as Andy Whitfield isn't playing the title character. The new guy has zero charisma whereas Andy oozed it. As for Breaking Bad - saw season 1 a while ago, really enjoyed it. Working my way through season 2 now - it's definitely a step down, although still entertaining.

Yeah I'm coming up from Cambridge to watch it. -

Managed to catch some of the SOO at work. Those two sides would dismantle the best England side we could put out. Incredible spectacle. -

I'm not so sure they do have plans brewing - we looked AWFUL against Widnes then put out the same team (minus a rested Tomkins - he had heavy strapping on his left thigh against Widnes) and lost to a poor Bradford side. We should have changed things up midweek. As for Murphy vs Russell. I don't think there's any doubt that Russell is the better open field runner, but everything that I've seen of him suggests he's dodgy defensively. I'd go with the safer Murphy. -

Pretty much. Elima should be up before the panel for those elbows - he of course won't be. It was a yellow at worst for McIlorum - I dislike this new 'send everyone off that throws a punch' mandate referees have. It's Rugby League, not football. We were very poor again because without a 6 and a 13 we lose all structure. O'Loughlin can't play 6 - he isn't quick enough (both speed of foot and speed of thought) to play there. Farrell can't play 13 either - not in a system that uses the 13 as a third pivot. After Murphy's impressive debut I would be horrified if Wane picks Tomkins at 1 and leaves O'Loughlin at 6 for Wakefield. -

So what you're saying is that we should move the highest paid player in SL to his natural position? ;-) -

The problem with the Exiles concept is that the new NRL salary cap has killed it. We won't get any worthwhile 'Exiles' in the near future. The Melbourne Storm trio, for example, wouldn't have come under those conditions. They need to bring back our Origin concept - Lancashire vs Yorkshire. -

It's a matter of using your resources wisely. Russell is very close to being ready. Tomkins IS a halfback playing at FB. He'd be just as good (although in a different way) at HB. I don't want Brough (Mr Average) or Chase (selfish thug). Powell and Mellor haven't kicked on due to injuries. Our options are very limited. Lenagan hasn't led us astray yet, so I trust in whatever move he makes - but that's the one I'd do.
