  1. I thought that kind of behaviour was reserved for 'hillbillies' and the like. Guess not.
  2. 2nd time we've been screwed by Wigan then. Still, can't complain with the 6 points they've handed us this season.
  3. He has pace, that's always something to get excited about. He also seems to be an intelligent footballer. That said, he's missed two sitters for the seniors. Still, you have to be in the right position to miss them. We think more of him because he's an academy player. We've had absolutely nothing come through the system for a while, so we're grasping at straws.
  4. I was dissapointed he couldn't outpace the Liverpool defender (his name escapes me) and ended up being brushed off the ball. Still, he's young.
  5. Ain't that the truth.
  6. My dad made the comment a few years back - Emerton isn't actually Australian. Sure, by birth he is, but the way he conducts himself on a football pitch is at odds with how Aussies play sport - just look at Neill. That said, he's done well at right back this year. Though I agree he's a liability in the air, and he loses his man too often for my liking.
  7. He was crap today mate. Not the best game to pull out a shot at the fans who dislike him.
  8. Why, cos he's black? Hopefully he's good. The academy needs to produce a first XI quality player sharpish to warrant the outlay.
  9. Has? Has?! He's 29 and coming back from a devastating injury. At best he has the potential to be a serviceable Premiership striker. To do that though he has to pull his finger out of his arse and up with work ethic.
  10. Why the hell was this kid asking for Taylor's autograph?! He was, and remains, pants.
  11. The Boro vs Fulham game tonight was interesting. Boro's team is full of academy players, a lot of whom didn't look up to it. They're getting the full season though to prove themselves, which is nice....if a little risky. As for Kane - is he any good?
  12. Matteo and Gray bloated in the reserves (Gray's probably only recently just come back to match fitness). I've never seen anyone rot though, agreed.
  13. Bingo, utterly unprofessional. Which, ironically, is the argument of many of his supporters - he's seeing out a contract he signed. As I said earlier, there was a rather large argument on my row last night concerning Neill's action. A father and son duo who have never booed Neill before, though they're not impressed with his defending - but that's another story, declared that they would be doing so from now on. Fair enough, I say. I'm starting to fear Hughes has lost it y'know. Sure he has several injury problems, but the lack of commitment on the field is shocking. What's worse, he comes out in every post match interview saying we played well. Now whilst I'm not asking for public condemnation of underperformers, I wouldn't mind him admitting every now and again that the team isn't quite up to the task and needs to work harder for each other. Super Andy Todd? The man that came on against Newcastle and immediately showed more resolve and passion than we've seen from the rest of the team all season? That's alright by me then.
  14. If that's the best we have to offer, they might as well close the academy now. Gallagher, Derbyshire Sergio and Jay are all twenty and above yet still have a long way to go, if indeed they'll ever make it. Nolan wasn't much better. Gallagher and Jay aside, they're all far too slight with not enough football skill to play at the top flight. Tugay is a perfect example - if you're going to lose out physically you have to be exceptional on the ball.
  15. He put it in the back of the net, ran the length of the pitch, cupped his hand to those that had been booing him (as they were all cheering) and then proceeded to tell them where to go. Cue more arguments in the Jack Walker. As the guys next to me said, they've never booed him before, but after that petulant act they will now. Fair play if you ask me, he's meant to be a professional. As for the game, absolutely dire once again. If Nancy could finish they'd have been out of sight.
  16. Well worth going then, about time the kids got a start.
  17. They'd win a lot of supporters if they simply worked harder. More than half of Benni's offsides are down to him not bothering to get himself back onside. Neither defends from the front either - one of Dickov's more admirable qualities. I'm not even going to mention the complete lack of pace.
  18. 4-5-1, gentlemen (and ladies), it's the future. We need points and we need them now - there's no point trying (and failing) to play football when you don't have the team to do it (be it through a lack of activity in the transfer window, the reluctance to drop underperforming players, or indeed injuries). It's sad to see, but this season is about survival right now. Bring back Mokoena into the spoiler role and let's grind out some results.
  19. Pace costs money, something we lack.
  20. With the way these takeovers are going, I'd imagine they'd put in a cheeky bid.
  21. The superior Bourne franchise.
  22. I'm not paying that lot £30 this year. They rip off all the away fans (£35 a ticket for Citeh - ludicrous). Plus I'm still not over the free pies scandal.
