[Archived] Pedersen For United?
Exiled_Rover replied to Hughesy's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
If you think about it, Pedersen would actually suit Chelski's system much better than Duff does - he scores goals by arriving late in the box, great first touch and vision/passing ability, and is a hard working tactically aware player. His weaknesses i.e his hit and miss crosses and his pace/ability to beat a player would be hidden. Not that they're trying to sign him mind, just thought it was interesting -
Brilliant, y'know if it didn't cause a riot

Fair enough if you want to place all the blame on the British workforce. All I know is that Multiplex is losing money hand over fist and seem pretty incompetent right now. -

From what I've read Multiplex aren't an international company, or at least they weren't before bidding for the Wembley project. They showed arrogance (which has proved to be expensive) regarding working with a 'parent' company here in Britain - apparently it's the norm to partner up with a local construction firm during your first foray into a new market, they help you access a stable/trustworthy workforce, suppliers etc, etc. As it's turned out the price of the materials has risen from the agreed/estimated costs and Multiplex have been left without a clue thanks to them being novices here in Britain. Not that I can back this up with a link mind, but the article is around somewhere! -

Hence why a lot of people didn't want the Olympic games in 2012. -
[Archived] Pedersen For United?
Exiled_Rover replied to Hughesy's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
There's no way we could afford him, even if he fancies a return to Blackburn. Chelski obviously don't need the money and could easily release him on a free, but they'd surely look to financially cripple us in any transfer dealings - if they'd even let another team in the Prem (I was tempted to say rival, but checked myself!) get stronger. As for Gamst, well whatever I may feel about his all-round game, he keeps on scoring. With the lack of another viable option (both on the scoresheet and the left wing) I'd suggest we don't sell him unless we get a ridiculous offer. -

10 in the league, 1 in the cup in 30 games overall. From what I've read he's not really improved i.e very talented, but his effort/work rate is questionable. Granted a return of a goal every three games from left wing/midfield (which is where he's been playing) is pretty damn good - Pedersen-esque even - but his attitude worries me Thankfully it's Hughes and not me making the decision on where Paul goes from here - he's talented enough to excel at the top, but whether he wants to is another matter. Could come back to haunt us ala Beattie if we sell him on now, after all he's still only 21! -

Yeah, but from what I read the new manager likes the long ball system and Matt is too slight to be an effective player upfront - he scored a hattrick on his Plymouth reserves debut, if that's anything to go by -

Slight difference between League 2/Division 3 and the Prem, but obviously his scoring goals for fun is promising. According to the Wrexham fans he's lightning quick, finishes well and works hard - a class above the rest of the players at the club. I've not seen enough of him to judge whether he's found his level, or if he can continue to score goals higher up the leagues - hopefully he can because we need a quick striker, and more importantly an Academy player to break through into the first team (Peter is coming through, but he's not quite there yet). I'll leave that up to the coaching staff/fans who turn out for reserve games to comment on -

Theno's not going to be happy until the overseas supporters buy a block of seats, rename them, donate the tickets to underprivileged Rovers youngsters, put on a mini-bus, buy them all the latest kits etc, etc...... -
I honestly see Bolton challenging for the Champs League - whilst their football is @#/? and 'plays the percentages' (i.e you're going to eventually put one knockdown/goalmouth scramble away) few teams can handle them. We're one of them I feel, but I can see Spurs, Utd, Chelski and Liverpool struggling with them. Not to say they'll beat them all, but I'm not marking it down as an automatic loss. If anybody's going to lose out it's us - we're one injury away from falling out of contention, especially considering how shakey our defence/keeping has been this season.

You're missing an asterisk there - when healthy. Friedel's going downhill quite rapidly, but he's still better than anybody else we'll probably get, which just goes to show how good he used to be! -

Just watching MOTD, Butt has handled the ball pretty much on the goalline. Very similar incident to Savage (though nowhere near as threatening); one gets a second yellow, the other a corner - such inconsistency.....and people wonder why referees are abused.
