The fact of the matter is there isn't a long term future for this club - contracts are being run down, 5 of the 6 January transfers have been brought in on a 6 month contract and multiple players are out of contract in the summer. Eustace has lived this day to day. He's not asked for the world and they will not (or more likely cannot) provide him with anything so he's done the honest thing and left with his head held high and his reputation intact. TLDR: he's left for a smaller, poorer club in a desperate relegation dogfight - that tells you everything you need to know.
