  1. They wanted more money, not more coverage
  2. And of course my post above didn't even go into the lost income from more televised/streamed games and kickoffs being shunted around.
  3. Even if all of this money was for Championship clubs (it isn't) that would only amount to 7.79 million per club per season. If it's a 50% increase as claimed, then it's an increase of about 2.5 million per club. And again, I'm exaggerating because a chunk of the money will go to Leagues One and Two. We lose about £20 million a season. It will barely touch the sides. In exchange, it says there will be 4 times as many games broadcasted (although that doesn't stack with other figures in the article, which says there are currently 138 games televised and there will be 1,059 games broadcast now...I think it may be something to do with the distinctions between televised, streamed and broadcasted). Sounds like a fairly shit deal to me tbh.
  4. I had a very similar thought when I read it..
  5. 3-0 now, bit embarrassing for the young lads. Doesn't sound from the LT's report that it's a fair score at this stage, we seem to have had more attacks, but says some of the defending has been really poor. Litherland seems to be a CB, so I'm guessing he's no Ash Phillips...
  6. Looked like an inexperienced team. I've not even heard of Litherland yet, anybody know anything about him?
  7. This sort of claim keeps popping up and I'm yet to see an interview where he said anything about 'nice food' or 'a restaurant' (another claim). I did however watch an interview where he merely mentioned they made sure the player had some food, which is not the same thing as is being made out. There is enough to criticise from the window fiasco that there's no need to start making up or exaggerating details. If someone has a link to an interview where he actually talked about some kind of wining and dining than fair enough, until then I'm considering it some sort of weird Mandela Effect.
  8. That sounds like a dream career. I'd have my own yacht by now if that was a profession. Then again, I'd have tough competition from Millwall fans.
  9. He could have used the last 5 months for that, but has done no such thing. His head and heart are both in Spain now. I expect he will start anyway.
  10. Semi final isn't it? It's tomorrow morning. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/23499096.blackburn-rovers-turn-attention-cup-success-securing-safety/
  11. It's making me wonder if he trained so hard he was knackered in the matches! Whilst I appreciate the importance of a good training work ethic, JDT seems to imply (could be misreading between the lines) it's more important than what you do on matchday, and it simply isn't. 100% of points are won on matchday, training etc is simply preparation for that. It's possible to over prepare, and whilst my statement about Morton was glib, it's possible to train too hard (especially when the manager is picking you based primarily on training) and your body not be fully at the races on matchday as a result. That's one reason teams generally leave a rest day between training and matches, or only have a light training session.
  12. Someone save that last part for next time we're told we can't have an opinion.
  13. And it would mean our fans spending half as much on travel. Playing on a pitch you're used to playing on, and less travel time for your players, is always going to be an advantage, whether big or not. A neutral venue is the only fair way to do it.
  14. Wow, I struggle to think of a more pointless 'news' article that I've read, ever. Football games are shown in the background on quite a few movies and shows, I've certainly never heard of a mainstream news publication running an article on who was playing in them. Bizarre!
  15. I think a few of Pears' performances have been outstanding. But it's interesting to note that our results when TK was playing, and when Pears was playing, are night and day. Even though we have looked a better footballing side, results have been much worse overall with Pears. There are 10 other players in our team, but that does suggest it may be connected.
  16. Bizarre. If it's only one leg, it should be at a neutral venue, ideally somewhere roughly in the middle of the two clubs.
  17. That's about 70 years ago, and their entire trophy cabinet reads: One League Cup, One EFL Trophy Wow. Tinpot. Their next greatest claims are runner up in the FA Cup once, and runner up in the Full Members Cup once. 16 seasons in the top flight in total I believe. Oooooh, big boys. We have 18 seasons there just since it became the Prem. All that said, nobody should be saying they don't deserve to be up there. If they get up there then, unless it involves some chicanery, they deserve to be there and it's as simple as that. We won't deserve it over them, because we have simply made too many wrong decisions as a club and they've gone about their business better. People try to apply similar logic to us, saying our fanbase is too small to deserve a Prem spot, and it's just as much bullshit then too. Heck this is Luton's second consecutive year in the playoffs. You don't get out of this league because you have a right to, you get out of it because you earn it.
  18. Almost nothing to do with the manager now. 'Ask Gregg'.
  19. Harsh. Just because he's a footballer doesn't mean he can't handle basic arithmetic.
  20. Their tickets appear to be cheaper than ours (listen and learn Waggott). They'll have more season ticket income than us for sure but I hardly think that's enough to make them big hitters financially in this league. Ticket income isn't enough to make a huge difference at this level unless you're selling epic numbers at a fairly high price, like only a few teams here do. I think spending big relative to how they've been spending in League One, and spending big relative to this league, are two different things. Arma is likely to require the latter.
  21. The irony and problem is, whilst we may well look like we've made huge advances on the pitch as we look more cohesive and like we can cause problems, we've actually regressed hugely in terms of the results since Christmas. I worry this may indicate JDT's chosen style doesn't actually work for us. Although it may indeed be primarily down to the lack of appropriate personnel in the box. Same personnel we had when we were 2nd in the league though.
  22. Because he has shown he can score a bucket load at this level. His failing at a higher level will no longer really matter. Unless it's destroyed his confidence. I'd be shocked if Ipswich can afford him.
  23. Sadly it's almost the only thing he does, shooting almost constantly. I'd prefer a happy medium between that and our current approach.
  24. Why wouldn't someone be sacked for a mistake of such magnitude?
