  1. There have been a couple of major EV innovations in China from CATL, the world's biggest battery producer, and BYD, the world's second biggest battery producer and also a major car manufacturer now. BYD unveiled a car they've made which can charge at 1 MW (1000 KW), which is enough to charge 250 miles in 5 minutes A few weeks later, CATL unveiled a new battery capable of being charged at 1.3 MW, the Shenxing Superfast Charging Battery that can add 323 miles of charge in 5 minutes. This puts EVs pretty close to being on par with combustion cars for topping up. A small enough difference as to not matter when you add in the ability to essentially 'refuel' at home for far lower prices. It means range anxiety will become an irrelevance, even if the technology doesn't go further still. The problem for the time being of course, is the chargers required for these cars. 1 MW chargers do exist in China, I'm not sure if they're installed in the west at all yet, but in both cases there are far too few and the infrastructure will need to be built. But it'll come.
  2. 2nd top scorer, a goal off top scorer, for a side who came very close to the playoffs. I think they'll see that as a decent signing for a squad player given where they finished. If they see him as the main man then yeh maybe they won't amount to much, but it's probably a squad player that can add some goals in tight games they're looking for.
  3. He will have signed a juicy NDA, happily, with his greedy grubby little hands. He'll also be fully aware of the nefarious leverage Venkys will use if someone crosses them. He will ride off into the sunset and we will never hear from him again.
  4. Of course it's good he's gone, and I always wanted him gone and never said he shouldn't go because the alternative won't be better. But it's happened now and it's natural to look to the future. On which count, we know from experience it will be another chancer, and if it isn't they'll be ostracised and leave or be fired.
  5. Until they hire another chancer of a human shield to replace him.
  6. Think you're being too kind there. I don't think he did know how to do that, especially the arrogance part.
  7. Got to say, I'm happy Waggott is going. But it has to be tempered by the concern over who will be in his seat next. You have to hope for a competent, non-corrupt CEO, but history has shown that actually trying to get anything done as CEO here just gets you fired, or you get alienated and leave. I guess we can hope for non-corrupt and competent, but knowing when they'll have to keep their mouth shut and what battles to pick or else we will just get someone worse. As long as they don't treat fans like cash cows that would be an upgrade, but the real problems aren't going away until Venkys do.
  8. Probably not under the new league requirements. The womens team would have to go fully professional, which without knowing exact details of that I'd estimate is close to a 500k a year commitment. And I think other expenditure was required too. On top of that, you can't just operate without a CEO. We will have to bring a new one in, and whilst I'm certain we would downgrade the pay, it probably won't be by 500k... Tbh the womens team ship has sailed, we have already confirmed we aren't entering the league again.
  9. Should be pretty easy if you just don't mention Rovers until you're there and keep her away from that article.
  10. This statement demonstrates he didn't do his research before joining us at all. He has come in naive to the reality here. If he does somehow have us challenging for the playoffs again in January, we all know the script from there.
  11. There's nobody to be sold for more than about 3 million. Travis or Brittain, maybe Tronstad, could feasibly attract something like that. Carter maybe, he was once touted as being worth about 8 mill, but I think his stock has tanked with injuries and loss of form. There is no golden goose anymore since Szmodics and Wharton.
  12. An extension option is very rarely up to the player. They're usually purely for the club to decide whether to activate, and have been here in every single case I'm aware of.
  13. Damien Duff wasn't a Rovers fan. He just enjoyed his time here. And had played, and shone, in a World Cup. He won Ireland's player of the tournament award, and for me was one of the very best left wingers in the world at that time.
  14. It wasn't cleverly worded, it was just a lie. An impediment isn't something that categorically prevents something, it is a hindrance, an obstacle, an encumberance. To say there are no impediments was always a lie. To have to allocate twice as much money is definitely an obstacle. It can be crossed, but absolutely it impairs the ease with which money can be sent.
  15. That's not a vindication of a player. Jason Lowe was picked by several consecutive managers, and he was dogshit. Then when he left he fairly promptly sank down to League Two. Not before getting his third relegation by age 27. Sometimes managers are wrong.
  16. Scotland or League Two. Probably the former.
  17. Hard to say. It could also mean they plan to get another player in that area. I don't expect much this summer though, we are obviously brassic. That said the directors have made a rod for their own back by saying the budget is similar to last summer, and by also saying incoming transfer funds don't affect the budget, made it clear what we spent last summer wasn't boosted by the Raya, Gally money etc. So in theory we should be able to spend about 3 million in fees I think it was? Which aye is still shit, but enough to recruit a few positions at a better standard than Markanday.
  18. Ffs... hope he finds himself another club promptly.
  19. About 200-300k, or less than that with a sell on for if he comes good. Still worth triggering though. Not that it matters as nothing adds to the budget anyway, but I'm surprised we didn't activate it. I also don't think he's anywhere near as bad as some suggest. No worse than Hedges.
  20. Interesting to see that we are still collecting keepers like they're pokemon cards but have released shit tons of players elsewhere. I'm confused by this 'strategy'. However it certainly makes sense to say bye to Vale, Eastham, Whitehall (sadly, too many injury concerns), Gilsenan (same as Whitehall), Forshaw (thank fuck), and most of the ones released. Surprised to see Markanday released though, didn't we have a 1 year option? Surely we could have got a small fee for him, or at least a sell on. We paid money for him, a fair bit, you'd think we want some return for that. I can only think his wages are too high for the level of club we think would be interested.
  21. In fact, Khan has had a 1 year option activated and Goddard has been offered a new deal.
  22. You say 'lighten up' as if we're absolutely furious. It's just an opinion. In fact it's an opinion I was more vociferous about when I was the age in question. I called my mates out on it plenty of times when they came back from hols sporting a Barca shirt or something.
  23. I'd rather keep Goddard or even Kahn. Young enough to be useable as u21 regulars or emergency bench cover that doesn't use a squad space.
  24. We've got about 5 of them. We don't need him. He's 22 and pretty low down the backup keeper rankings. It's an odd contract to give.
